Death That cat does look like it would have a similar personality to Silkiecat Grin

DD just came back and rabbit made a quick dash into the dining room to try and chase 17 year old Silkiecat but DD put him back.

Silkiescatz · 23/09/2021 18:44

DH went to sleep for an hour. Silkiecat, after not howling at all for weeks, howled 4 times after 45 minutes to let DH know this was not acceptable behaviour from her preferred servant. DH got up reluctantly on the 4th howl and is now grovelling and feeding Silkiecat extra food.

We have sausage, mashed and grilled veg for dinner though I will just have mashed and grilled vegetables as meat feels weird to eat when you can't taste. Though I have a little taste back, could taste the porridge a bit and the mango yoghurt today.

DD now back. The silkie chickens have been quiet all day.

@BasiliskStare Grin Grin Grin
That reminded me of some Finnish and Irish Eurovision entries in the early 1970s.

BasiliskStare · 23/09/2021 19:28

@mathanxiety sort of see where you are going there but it is the one spider thing that can make me giggle. Nothing else can . My mother once lived in australia for 12 months and opened the curtain and massive massive spider behind the folds. - She now just hoovers them up ( UK )

Hope it makes you laugh.

@Silkiescatz Dh has a technique with a glass and paper where he can defenestrate spiders. My technique is shouting and screaming and running. - Less effective . I think cats can catch spiders - or at least make them ( spiders ) think their life is not worth living as they are played with by a cat. What is the point of spiders ? Evil creatures.

Lemonsandlemonade · 23/09/2021 19:58

Cooked me and DH a broccoli prawn noodle stir fri thing. DH said it was better than Chinese. 🧐 High praise from DH.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/09/2021 20:06

Spiders are fascinating and an important part of our eco systems - same as bees and wasps - please do not kill them. If you look closely they are quite beautiful.
Lemon Congratulations!

Silkiescatz · 23/09/2021 20:56

Dh just collects spiders with glass and paper and puts them outside. Silkiecat isn't as kind though is so blind now she does not eat many, possibly now, most get one bat with paw then a confulzed look of where did that go.

DH is now playing piano. He had his lesson online on Monday though had worsened a lot, now Silkiecat plays the piano better when she climbs on it. DS has just put the silkie chickens to bed.

HelenaJustina · 23/09/2021 21:21

DH saves everyone in this house from spiders. This time of year, the calls screams float down the stairs very regularly. He catches them with a glass and card and puts them out.

Silkiescatz · 23/09/2021 22:39

I just had sticky toffee pudding and custard, it tasted like cardboard but that isnt covid, its just the way coop make it. Grin Now having lemon squash and 2 lemsip tablets. I want a toffee apple but its too early to get them.

Need to get fridge repair man out but he is not replying.

Silkiescatz · 23/09/2021 22:46

Silkiecat has moved from her mattress to the carboard box, mattress is good for daytime stretching and chilling out, cardboard box for sleeping. I told DH to put her cat blanket and pillow on her mattress, dh said that will be too much for Silkiecat. I said it wouldnt as she goes on our pillows and duvet and loves the pillows especially so now I can hear him putting them on saying oh my lovely Silkiecat I have brought this nice pillow and blanket for you.

Silkiescatz · 24/09/2021 02:06

I have just ordered our Christmas turkey, vegetables, cheese, pigs in blankets, stuffing, Christmas pudding and cream. Rumours of shortages this Christmas so got order in early with the butcher or Silkiecat would never forgive me.

Lemonsandlemonade · 24/09/2021 07:26

@Silkiescatz oh wow! That’s organised the😬😂

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/09/2021 08:10

The word 'pudding' always catches me out - we have the same word, but it means something very specific (which I do not like). So I googled 'sticky toffee pudding' and it is a 'Kuchen' and by the looks of it extremely tasty.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/09/2021 08:11

DD caught the delivery guy - she saw the car enter the road and went down into the street to wait at the house door. He went past the house. She went up to him and got told: that he rang, she was not home and he had delivered to a neighbour in the house (the house he did not enter and whose bells he did not touch) - she said of course I was not home, as I was standing at the door waiting for you. He ran away into his car. When DD went to the neighbour she was told that the guy handed her the parcel in the street. Grin

I ordered my Christmas meat from Donald Russell as soon as I got the catalogue a few weeks ago. It's not being delivered until early November though (my choice-gives me time to empty the freezer a bit)

Silkiescatz · 24/09/2021 08:44

We collect ours from the butcher on 24th December. It was quite easy to order as it just comes as a hamper. Silkiecat loves the Christmas turkey, she sits and watches the oven though gets frustrated that we cook it so long, she looks at us like we are a bit stupid.

DH is back asleep, both kids gone to school. Silkiecat is also asleep on the cardboard box. A collared dove was singing before.

Silkiescatz · 24/09/2021 08:46

Prok Pudding normally means dessert here but it can sometimes be used for savoury things like steak and kidney pudding which is like a pie and black pudding, which is horrible and made from animal blood.

Lemonsandlemonade · 24/09/2021 09:04

See I quite like black pudding 😂 do t let the process put you off.

Lovely with scallops

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/09/2021 09:10

Silkie and Lemo Do you know the dish 'Möppkes'? Now a rare speciality in my home area? Smile

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/09/2021 09:32

Not the 'Möppkes' you find when you google, but this

Poor people used to fatten a pig for others and when it got slaughtered every part of the pig was used and sold. What was kept was: the pig's blood, the water the sausages were cooked in and any meat / filling that ended up in this water - add spices and turn that into 'Möppkes'. So basically seasoned pig's blood.

Lemonsandlemonade · 24/09/2021 09:36

No never heard of it. I would give it a go! Will always try anything once - except mushrooms which are the work of the devil!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/09/2021 09:44

lemon It is now a rare seasonal speciality - it tastes quite nice.
And traditionally 'Sauerbraten' in my area uses horse meat.

sueelleker · 24/09/2021 09:56

I adore mushrooms; I quite often buy them, then decide what I'll have with them!
DoctorTwo · 24/09/2021 10:20

One of my favourite breakfasts is a grilled cheese and mushroom toasted sandwich. Absolutely delicious. My Mouth is now watering, must go up the local greasy spoon.

Apparently we are having a crisis. I’m not sure that we really are having a crisis any more than we were having a crisis last week. I think someone higher up has finally noticed the crisis.
In any case, someone has bought some doughnuts. Which is nice.
