I second what Miss said - antibiotics kill all the bacteria and a lot of them you actually need. DD had to take gut bacteria once to restore the balance after pnumonia.

DD is cooking.

HildaTablet · 20/10/2021 16:18

Really sorry to hear you’ve had a relapse, Silkies. What a miserable time of it you’ve had Sad Try and rest as much as possible.

Silkieschickens · 20/10/2021 20:29

Thanks very much. I am good at resting Hilda its the only thing I can do atm. I dont think the antibiotics are making the d&v worse since Monday night I cant keep any food or any drinks with dairy down and its still the same now so pretty much just drinking and no eating. Any movement sets me off as well, the only movement I have is going to the bathroom but I am being sick the whole way there and we have carpets Sad Then I have to lie down for 30 minutes before I feel not dizzy enough to walk back and its one room away. And Silkiecat still has not got the memo cats are supposed to stay with sick people.

Dd went back to school today, after a day off yesterday and out with friends. Got a message ds had left school 10 mins early but school is just in village we are in so its very safe and he is here fine. Been reading the A&E threads and they are scary, 12 hour waits Shock, ours the first four hours is outside and security are blocking the toilets. Dh is playing piano. He seems to love playing nurse, he was so happy when I told the doctor he was amazing. I

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/10/2021 20:53

@Silkieschickens - Antibiotics can really make you feel rotten! Glad that you are well cared for. Ouf course, DCat won't come, you are dominating her personal Grin

I have emptied the balcony of everything that might go flying. DH is off to see his DM and for work at 5:30 tomorrow morning.

Silkieschickens · 20/10/2021 21:33

Glad you got things in Prok Silkiecat is being good about sharing at least, I heard DH explaining to her. Though I have had this for 5 weeks now of being sick etc and at the start she seemed to be trying to be sick at same time, it was like a competitive vomitting competition. Its the covid not the antibiotics, had doxy a few times and never get side effects, pencillin makes me ill.

The senco said one of her team has had exactly same as me with covid so could well be nothing secondary. I have a beautiful rash now and oximeter readings are going lower again, I am supposed to phone 111 for those but dont want to spend an hour on the phone. Had oximeter readings low before and still here and rashes before with this. I am trying coconut water but I hate coconut. I can at least pretend I am on holiday.

Champagneforeveryone · 20/10/2021 21:35

Sorry you're feeling so grotty silkie Sad

DS is out playing poker and has declined my offer of a lift home, insisting he is more than capable of driving himself. The weather is atrocious and I would feel much happier if he wasn't driving in it as he only passed his test two weeks ago.

Ah well, not like I have anything else to worry about Hmm

mathanxiety · 21/10/2021 03:21

You really are going through the wars, Silkie. Fingers crossed the ABs will have a good effect.

Our temps are about to take a nosedive. Like Prok I cleared my deck of all but the hardiest plants. The rest will come in tomorrow morning. If they survive the night they're keepers.

I finished my basement storage clearing project this morning (so much for a morning off). An old mattress nearly got the better of me but I persevered. The garbage man took everything with a sticker attached (at the cost of $3.10 per sticker) and also a few things without stickers which I had left out for the super-strong scrap metal woman who trawls the alleys in her incredibly well-sprung truck with its precarious pyramid of metal items in the flatbed.

Lemonsandlemonade · 21/10/2021 06:17

@Silkieschickens am sorry you’re feeling so unwell.

DH has migraine since Tuesday I am not a good nurse but then he has been to work but is too ill to put DS to bed 🙄

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/10/2021 08:31

Silkie How are you?

DH's trains were cancelled because of a break down, so he had to take the replacements, but he is still on time.

Windy here - the clouds are moving and I see bits of blue sky.

Silkieschickens · 21/10/2021 12:55

Thanks all. Was quite ill start of last night and 111 offered me a hospital appointment, arrived at 4am and just back home. They said its covid and long covid, did a chest xray, put me on drip for 7 hours or so, blood tests, stool sample, very thorough.

Silkieschickens · 21/10/2021 13:04

They said have an infection and to take antibiotics. I have the blood tests results through they didnt go through them as very busy there but that is fine, they said they were normal enough though was says normal 0 to 6 and mine says 88 Confused, think its crp but presumably nothing to worry about. I have had no sleep for 24 hours but worth it to be checked and drip made me feel bit stronger, still got the d&v but they said just stay home with that which is fine. Temp was 38.2 so not too bad. No sign of first carpenter but nevermind, another one due tomorrow.

The Boden things arrived and Silkiecat was so happy with the Boden box it has collapsed into the shape of Silkiecat in the middle of the top but she seems to love that.

MissConductUS · 21/10/2021 14:01

Silkie, I'm really glad you were seen at hospital. CRP is C reactive protein, an inflammation marker. It just indicates that something is triggering an inflammatory response.

Have you had a booster jab for covid yet?

Researchers are making some progress in understanding what's happening in patients with long term covid sequelae.

@Silkieschickens, I am glad you are feeling a little better after the hospital visit although going to the hospital is often pretty tiring in itself. Sending you positive vibes for a speedy recovery with the antibiotics and the drip.

Silkieschickens · 21/10/2021 15:28

Thanks MissC, only had second vaccine AZ in July and not eligible for booster. DH is at some point as he is older than me and wierdly got bumped up to cev but no one knew why. Think it was probably as he had a skin cancer test at the time but was clear.

Looking it up I wonder if they may have been doing a sepsis test with the crp as the nurses spotted all my rash and photographed them. Think its just covid rash, I have had it 3 times this last 5 weeks. Reminded me of when DS was little and had pencillin rash and the doctor said wow his rash is amazing its just like the textbook, I have never seen a rash so perfect.

Silkieschickens · 21/10/2021 15:36

Thanks Nydj It was 4am to 12pm ish so no sleep for me and on wards though was fascinating and to see what was going on. Was on very busy A&E ward.

Dh sent me this picture of Silkiecat though I pointed out Silkiecats dining room bowls are empty but dh being the amazing servant he is to Silkiecat said he had filled them so fear not.

Silkieschickens · 21/10/2021 15:38

The bed behind is Silkiecats but it is not as good as a cardboard box.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/10/2021 16:04

Silkie Is that behind Silkiecat's bed a genuine timbered? wall? Like these.
- I do not have the words

Silkieschickens · 21/10/2021 16:12

Yes its similar to those Prok its a timber framed thatched cottage with wattle and daub. DS was Shock when I told him our house was 550 years old, he said surely its an imitation, how come it has not fallen down by now.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/10/2021 17:00

Silkie I did not realize - how lovely. There is probably a lot of work involved, but those houses are better quality and better suited to the climate (but not to keep masses of people housed on a small space.)

The pub we spent our Saturdays in (to discuss the footbal results) was already a pub in 1487 and before that a kind of hospice.

StartingAgain6369 · 21/10/2021 23:27

Nothing much exciting to report today apart from job #1 this morning then my SE job this afternoon, picked up DD1 & DD2 from school this afternoon, got back home to find my mother on the drive talking to the ducks

Text from the lads at teatime about going for a quick early drink, jumped in the car, catch up and back home for 8pm

PS I don't drink drink, gave up 8 years ago

Lemonsandlemonade · 22/10/2021 03:36

@Silkieschickens hope you’re ok. Long Covid and Covid sounds horrible. Is your DH a good nurse?

After being fine today DS I had woke coughing and is a bit chesty sounding. . He is
Now asleep right next to for bars but I don’t want to wake him by moving.

Silkieschickens · 22/10/2021 04:14

Hope your DS stays asleep and gets better soon. My DS used to hate coughs as he slept with two fingers in his mouth so he would scream with every cough. He had little man flu. Grin

My DH is an amazing nurse and he loves being nurse, he prefers me ill to well so he plays nurse. As soon as he picked me up he said I am taking over as nurse again.

I feel a little better for drip but still in bathroom every 30 minutes and can't keep any food or drink in me and can't sleep with it. Nurses were amazing but only one doctor once for whole majors A&E ward for everyone there in 8 hours and whole time their emergency buzzer was ringing and they just said you will feel horrendous and like death but just stay home. He came another time asked if anyone was likely to die within 24 hours, nurse said no and he left. So very glad I have DH.

HelenaJustina · 22/10/2021 06:28

It’s the last day of the half term! DC1&2 broke up yesterday and despite not having to drop them to the bus, I’m up at the same time. I got a difficult job done yesterday (deadline 3pm today) so feeling on top of things right now. Don’t worry, it won’t last!

IWanderedLonely · 22/10/2021 06:47

Up early with a sore throat and bunged up nose. Just what I need. Work is really busy today & straight into looking after grandchildten as soon as I finish the paid employment.
At least it's not rainingGrin

Silkieschickens · 22/10/2021 07:18

Hope you feel better soon Iwandered

Also half term here from tonight which is good as its a break from school problems, todays is DD told me at 8.30pm last night school had told her to get a new skirt and she claims that none of her trousers or other 3 skirts fit as she has changed shape so will need to wear jeans or leggings. I only bought the skirts and trousers in September, how much can a childs shape alter in a month. Confused Though she did insist on a size smaller than I wanted.

Now it is the scary part of the morning for me, the time everyone is trying to use the bathroom. I already had to evict DS now DD is in the shower playing music.
