Thanks Helena DD had a nice 16th, she went out with friends for a pizza at a restaurant at the weekend and had pizza and cake with us. She chose to have the cake just with her brother and the rabbit, she said it was not that she did not want to be with us it was she wanted to be just her and her brother. That was lovely of her as he does not really see friends outside school, he says he does not want to as he prefers the pets and us but still.

prok I will also be taking a cake break, I was so sick again last night, think cake is fine as everyone else was fine. So I am making my diet plain again. Are you still doing the Russian? I have just done all the animals and onto Sapphire league, got a shock it goes above gold. Not sure what the point is but its quite relaxing and its good to be able to understand a bit. I used to always want to go to Russia but not sure if that will happen.

DD is also saying she feels under the weather though is doing school work. I think she prefers to study from home, she has taken on so many subjects, I have lost count. She has mocks after half term which is next week. DS went off 45 mins early, no idea what he does there. Hmm

No news on carpenter yet, supposed to be Thursday but will believe it if I see it. We are not surehow he can alter the 2 units either as we have a handmade all solid wood glued together kitchen, the electrician was ShockConfused. I am hoping they can just saw the units out without taking off the worktop, sink and taps completely but no idea. I watched videos to see but 99% were screw together kitchens and the one handmade one they sawed the worktop off as well.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/10/2021 12:11

@Silkieschickens - Oh yes, I continue to do Russian, but slowly, getting every disk to 5 before I go on (I am currently fighting against relegation in the diamond league - it's rubbish when the whole group happens to be in the same time zone and working like mad).

A handmade (bespoke?) glued in kitchen sounds difficult - but perhaps your carpenters will see it as a challenge!

DS is still working next to me ...

When we picked out wedding cake flavors we decided on a chocolate mousse cake with a layer of raspberry filling and chocolate buttercream icing. The bakery made up a very small cake with those flavors for us to try before we finalized the order. They delivered the cake to the restaurant where we had the reception. Our wedding was pretty small, about 60 people. That was all the restaurant would seat, so that helped keep the guest list short.

Math, that's so interesting that you have a Ukrainian bakery. Mine has had to cut back on hours as they're understaffed.

It's been really cold and windy here. I had to find my fall jacket this morning.

Dental check-up this morning; I've got to go back to have 2 ancient amalgam fillings replaced, but since they're at least 20 years old I reckon they've done quite well. (I know they're at least that old, as they were done when our dentist still took NHS patients; and that's 20 years ago)

MissConductUS · 19/10/2021 16:43

I'm off to the dentist myself later, Sue. It's a follow-up to the crown lengthening procedure I had done last week. I'm really hoping they'll take the stitches out. I should be in and out in 10 minutes.

Wow Diamond Prok You are a Russian genius. I wondered if you were in my league as there is a cat called Seb competing though appears a French cat. My rabbit is behind him atm, rabbit is running out of steam and has returned to carrot munching.

I am going to do the brat diet and DH is on hunt for big apples, DS and I love big apples. So he may be our hero shortly.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/10/2021 17:05

@Silkieschickens - no, no, no I am not in the diamond league because I am good at Russian - far from it. (I just added the languages I ought to have at least a basic knowledge in to the others - and getting points on that and kept a long streak.)

DH is off to buy chocolate.

Nydj · 19/10/2021 19:15

That is an amazing cake, @Silkieschickens and your daughter sound lovely in looking after her brother.

Cue drumroll…. The marquee has gone! Didn’t see it being taken down as I was out for most of the day.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/10/2021 19:19

Nydj ... and you missed it!

Silkieschickens · 19/10/2021 22:12

Thanks Nydj Glad its finally gone for you.

Just called 111 as its been 5 weeks now and they were hard to get through to but the doctor who rang back was brilliant and he said its certain its covid, and prescribed me covid antibiotics for a week, and said to take very high dose vit D on its own, zinc on its own, drink hot lemon drinks or acidy thinks and drink tea. Loved the music it said if you dont want to listen to it press 1 pressed 1 and music carried on. Grin DH is just of to pick up antibiotics as doctor wanted me on them tonight.

Silkieschickens · 19/10/2021 22:18

Oww and in theory have a carpenter coming to look at things on Friday for stairs.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/10/2021 22:29

Why antibiotics for a viral infection? Did you get a supra-infection, poor you? All the best!
Gin

Silkieschickens · 19/10/2021 22:46

No idea Prok but I will take all the drugs I can get at the moment, sometimes people get secondary bacterial infections, no obvious signs of that but worsened a lot again last 24 hours so trying doctors for help.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/10/2021 22:56

Silkie That's what it is called in English, noted on my word list (That is getting longer and longer with words I never thought I'd use or need).

We've got a severe storm warning for Thursday, so I think I better clear my balcony tomorrow.

StartingAgain6369 · 19/10/2021 23:22

Bit behind with an update but following on from my last post DD is better and is back at school, parents evening tonight and teachers very pleased on how's she doing

Ducks are not very happy as daddy has had 2 full on days at work and been late back to let them out but now working from home for the rest of the week

Champagneforeveryone · 19/10/2021 23:54

It's raining.... a lot.

Water is creeping under the front doors at work. The last time it happened they had to replace the carpet tiles with Lino, if it happens again there will be nothing to soak the water up Confused

Giggorata · 20/10/2021 00:05

I just bid on something on eBay, which was then outbid almost immmediately. Someone is watching this item like a hawk.

MissConductUS · 20/10/2021 00:15

Welcome, @Giggorata, and thanks for sharing your online auction participation news. I used to sell the kids' jackets and boots on ebay when they outgrew them but I've never really shopped there.

Thanks for the ducky update @StartingAgain6369. Grin

They did take out my sutures at the dentist tonight, so that's a relief. I have to go back in two weeks for a final check, then to my other dentist to have impressions taken for the new crowns.

We had grilled cheese sandwiches on sour dough bread for dinner tonight and they were very good.

Silkieschickens · 20/10/2021 06:45

Hope you are not hit by severe storm Prok and wise to clear things.

I have a week's worth of doxcycillin antibiotics which they said to start immediately last night, not sure exactly what they were for they just said covid but that is viral, they were asking lots of questions about pneumonia symptoms, sepsis and blood clots. It seems to be the treatment here for covid plus bacterial pneumonia though they said they were 100% certain with covid, don't think they are sure what has made it worsen a lot though at least antibiotics treat a lot of things and gave me a list of things to call 111 back for or 999 and go to hospital. DH doesn't want me in hospital, says he loves me and will look after me and why do I need a doctor, why are they better than him. I want to stay home too so hoping antibiotics help.

Pheebs2021 · 20/10/2021 07:58

I feel really low this morning so I put Christmas songs on to get ready to... didn't work.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/10/2021 08:02

Silkie Do they only think it is covid or have they done a test? You could have all sort of things from the wide range of virus / bacteria available. (I am calmly worried.)
They have stopped the free covid tests (the official ones not done by oneself) charging 4 € down the road, but only DH needs them.

DS has a zoom appointment with a psychologist. He won't be honest with her for "reasons of privacy", which is causing me stress as he won't get the help he needs.

Nydj · 20/10/2021 09:41

@Silkieschickens, I hadn’t realised quite how bad you were. Let’s hope the antibiotics do their stuff and you make a good recovery very soon.

I am busy procrastinating and mumsnetting instead of getting ready for aerobics class.

IWanderedLonely · 20/10/2021 12:52

Flowers Brew Silkies hope you soon start to feel better.
I've finished (paid) work for today now waiting for my granddaughter to be dropped off. They're late.

Silkieschickens · 20/10/2021 13:26

Thanks very much Prok Nydj and Iwandered I am sure it will go at some point, 111 is just phone but they send presciptions to chemists and its normal doctors, well mine was. Was tested at start so definitely covid and dd positive at same time, just not sure if theres secondary things as well. Been very ill in night and today just being sick everywhere all the time and I can only lie down and cant eat atm but there cant be anything left in my stomach now at least. I was shaking very violenty for about 24 hours but managed to stop that with cold and flu tablets. Will try and sleep.

MissConductUS · 20/10/2021 14:23

I'm sorry to hear you're so under the weather, Silkie. It's fairly common to prescribe AB's in cases like yours just in case you have a secondary infection to to protect you from one, since your immune system is focused on your viral infection at the moment.

It's also quite possible that it's the AB that's causing your stomach upset as it's wiped out your normal intestinal microbiota.

I hope you feel better soon. Flowers
