Plumber was asking where to site thermostat and dh said to move it to living room from where it is now. I vetoed this as DS turns it down to 5C and we all freeze.

MissConductUS · 15/10/2021 14:12

I'm watching the new Dave Chappelle comedy special on Netflix. It's borderline bad taste but very funny. I'll probably watch his early shows when I'm done with this one. Squirrel, you could try Longmire, or for something a bit sillier, Good Witch.

Odd weather here today. Temps are going up to 26 C today and it's super foggy this morning. The sun is out now and the fog is burning off.

Silkie, I have to remind DH to schedule the annual service on our furnace. It was nothing but trouble last year until they finally figured out what part needed replacing. It's been running fine so far this fall, the few times we've had it on.

Electrician is here now fitting plugs as well as plumbers finishing boiler off. DH has excitedly said the fridge and dishwasher will go on same side which is what he wanted though the other electrician said this wasn't possible as measurements don't work so I hope we are not having sockets in the wrong place. DH assures me the measurements are right. Hmm

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/10/2021 15:06

Miss What a lovely foto! But 26°C! We are down to 8°C in the mornings.

Pheebs2021 · 15/10/2021 15:10

Such a beautiful photo could just wrap up warm and enjoy that view.

Silkieschickens · 15/10/2021 19:12

Boiler is completely working now and they have finished. Have heating, hot water, hot water tank removed, combi boiler in, radiators bled and new spur socket to boiler, and new double socket to fridge and dishwasher. So now just await carpenter to add fridge and dishwasher in, hopefully in next couple of weeks. Still got couple of projects but not urgent at all. Can put stuff back now in room we cleared and clear kitchen for carpenter.

HelenaJustina · 15/10/2021 19:26

@Silkieschickens I’m exhausted just reading that!

Had a v busy day at work ending with an unpleasant safeguarding incident which meant I didn’t get home until 5 minutes ago. The best part of the day was 60 minutes of lunch duty with 58 children in the autumn sunshine.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/10/2021 20:43

@Silkieschickens - great that it is more or less finished now!

Silkieschickens · 16/10/2021 08:55

Hope you get a rest this weekend Helena and hope you get to do some nice annual leave things Prok

Glad to have house to ourselves and nice to have a working boiler. Had toasted hot cross bun and butter. Dh has gone to join his friend who is doing 5 miles a day sponsored walk for breast cancer. I have been planning the next work on house projects, hoping carpenter turns up next week and also doing DDs 16th birthday stuff, presents, cake and card all sorted.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/10/2021 10:29

Good morning,
there was a flock of geese formation flying over the house - so autumn has started.

We went to IKEA (DD and I ) for fluffy bed covers and had some cake. They removed sugar from everything (sugar - natural product made from beets) and replaced it with undescribed 'sweeteners'. So DD drank coke that tasted like sweet water. From now on I will not only carry a spoon and fork, but sugar, too.

HelenaJustina · 16/10/2021 10:59

Oh I love an IKEA trip, not been for ages. DC view it as a huge treat bizarre children

Silkieschickens · 16/10/2021 12:06

The village bakers is back open and we have tordu bread, mangoberry cheddar, stilton, grapes and custard cake for lunch. DH back from his walk, Silkiecat is relieved as she wants his cuddles, DD is relieved as she wants his money. Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/10/2021 13:08

I proudly but calmly announce that I have finished cleaning and I have dinner (midday) in the oven. When we have eaten I will take a shower and relax by doing my languages.
Silkie That list sounds lovely - enjoy

Champagneforeveryone · 16/10/2021 13:56

There is an issue with the mortgage, however my wonderful and unflappable mortgage advisor is not at all fazed and predicts a myriad of ways around it.

DH has gone for a second viewing Envy

Nydj · 16/10/2021 14:48

Hello and happy weekend to everyone!
The people whose garden backs onto ours have had a marquee for the last couple of weeks. There has been music which we could all hear and, presumeably, dancing as it was all in honour of the Hindu festival of Navratri. We heard a lot of noise from there this morning and thought that they would be taking down the marquee as Navratri has finished for the year but it’s still there.

DS and I went for a walk. I listened to a podcast on my phone as he is not the most chatty person and I was only allowed to go with him as he wanted me to show him a particular spot in our area.

Nydj · 16/10/2021 14:49

Fingers and toes crossed for you @Champagneforeveryone!

IWanderedLonely · 16/10/2021 15:42

It's a gorgeous mild autumn day here. I've been gardening but made the mistake of sitting down for a brew for 10 minutes - 40 minutes later I'm still here.Blush

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/10/2021 16:37

nydj
Oh, that was the noise yesterday! Thank you!

MissConductUS · 16/10/2021 16:40

Happy Global Cat Day, lovely people of the thread.

I'm just back from shopping. DH is about to mow the lawn, possibly for the last time this year (he hopes). There's rain in the forecast for later, so we may not be able to cook out, which is highly disruptive to our dinner rotation.

Champagne, a good mortgage broker is invaluable. I'm sure there's a way around whatever the issue is.

Iwandered, a brew in the US refers to a beer or ale, which is what I thought of when I read your post. Presumably you mean tea. Smile

OP posts:
IWanderedLonely · 16/10/2021 17:27

Sorry Miss yes I did mean tea ( you leave it to brew for a few mi utes before fishing the teabag out ( or pouring from the teapot if you do it properly).
I tidiwd away the gardening tools then cleaned the bathroom. I'm now having another brew while I ponder what I can be arsed to cook for tea.

mathanxiety · 16/10/2021 18:53

Nice, crisp autumn morning under way here. We went once again to the Farmer's Market and bought doughnuts and pains au chocolate, and one apricot croissant which turned out to be delicious.

I have to bring two items to donate today - one to a local charity/ thrift and one to Goodwill. I'll be setting out four outgrown bikes by the side of the street with a big FREE BIKES sign and whoever wants them can have them. They all need work, mainly inner tubes and oiling, but one has wonky handlebars because DD4 crashed it one time too many. I don't want to go through the palaver of selling them online. I'll bring the bike I'm keeping up to my deck and move the potting table a bit to stow the bike behind it. I brought up the old smoker and set it under the potting table during the week.

DD4 spotted a mouse Shock in her room two nights ago, so I'll be setting traps later. I hate mice indoors with a passion. I have a feeling there are more where DD's one came from because of the basement emptying that has been going on, and that the upcoming renovation work down there will dislodge even more. I bought two packs of traps at Walmart last night, eight traps in total. Hopefully I won't need more.

Feeling a bit better today after horrible cold symptoms on Thursday night and all day Friday.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/10/2021 19:58

DH was musing about making cake or biscuits using tahine and his homemade lime jam - his plans did (of course) include raisins, too.

Gingerwarthog · 16/10/2021 21:08

Have given Wartycat an extra cuddle what with it being Global Cat Day.
An exciting week - in which I went to a live comedy gig and to a friend's 50 birthday afternoon tea - the leek and cheese tart was fantastic.
It felt very strange and very liberating to be with large(ish)groups of people in social situations. My job has necessitated this throughout the pandemic but being able to do this socially was very different.

Lemonsandlemonade · 16/10/2021 21:39

Hi all hope you’re all doing ok.

Cooked chicken and sweet corn pie for tea.

I think DS is teething as he is very dribbly hot and a tad grumpy. Hate seeing him in pain.

MissConductUS · 16/10/2021 23:35

Math, you need a cat. 😊. Sorry you weren't feeling well.

DH took the burgers off the grill seconds before a downpour started. We're also under a tornado warning and one was spotted north of us.

lemons, teething is the worst. Can you give him something for the pain?
