The plumbers have arrived and are doing work at the back of the house putting the new flue in and one of the plumbers and DH are discussing pianos. DH loves pianos so very little work could get done today.

Mamamamasaurus · 13/10/2021 10:00

I can't find my window vacuum.and I need it. For morning condensation, not cleaning windows, I don't do that, I'm a slattern. Have any of you seen it?

Silkieschickens · 13/10/2021 11:01

Yes I think I saw a shire horse walk into your house and take it Mama

Rabbits litter tray done. Clothes moved from hot water tank room. Radiators bled. Rubbish collected. Flue being changed outside. Banging coming from boiler room. Helicopter flying over our house.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/10/2021 11:48

mama This gadget is probably with my iso mat - I put it somewhere safe and have never seen it since.

Back from the dentist, DS is writing a PA for me, so that I can talk to his dentist. I am ever so excited! I bought some Haribo and 2 packs of socks.

Pheebs2021 · 13/10/2021 12:12

Oh the ducks are just lovely I've never heard of people having pet ducks before I love it 😀
I'm having a lovely day off today I'm reading my book and relaxing it's chilly today do I'm in a lovely warm blanket cardigan too.

Silkieschickens · 13/10/2021 12:19

Did the dentist recommend Haribo then Prok Grin

We have been told we have to completely clear the hot water tank room and they will take up carpet so just finishing that.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/10/2021 12:26

Silkie If you ask me like that .... Grin

Squirrel26 · 13/10/2021 12:32

I’m on a course. Zoom just kicked us all out but we’re back now.

There are some men in high vis jackets with ‘water’ on the back outside in the middle of the road.

Silkieschickens · 13/10/2021 12:37

The plumbers just told me they are all going out to 'get materials', there's at least 3 of them. I suspect they are getting lunch.

DH is off to the village bakers to get our lunch so I am now home alone with just silkiecat, rabbit and the 2 silkie chickens.

The house now doesn't smell great from the bleeding radiators. Thankfully my sense of smell still isn't completely back.

HelenaJustina · 13/10/2021 12:44

I’m desperate for some cake. I’m trying to do an asset management task which I have been putting off since May and people keep interrupting me. I’ve put a meeting in progress sign on my door in an attempt to keep them at bay.

Silkieschickens · 13/10/2021 12:48

DH says there is only 2 plumbers. I thought there was Paul, John and the very fat one but maybe the very fat one is John.

HildaTablet · 13/10/2021 13:05

Where are Ringo and George, though, Silkies? (sorry, somebody had to say it Grin)

I walked down into town to have a (routine) blood test ordered by the GP. They don’t do it at our surgery, there’s a very good phlebotomy unit at the hospital where the staff whizz the needle in so smoothly you genuinely don’t feel it, they’re fantastically quick and experienced.

I rewarded myself with a coffee and toasted sandwich which I’m eating in the park, and will walk back home in a minute to do some prep work for a job next week.

It’s overcast and getting a bit chilly here, but DH managed to give the lawn its last mow of the year yesterday.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/10/2021 13:14

DD tested the little café in our road and brought back some chocolate cake.
I will now take a long break.

Squirrel26 · 13/10/2021 13:22

The water men sound like they’re mowing the verge. Seems unlikely.

Silkieschickens · 13/10/2021 13:45

A third plumber has just appeared whilst other two are material searching, I guess this is Ringo. Im hoping they will play some music but just getting banging a bit. Silkiecat and rabbit are fine. Just had a salmon and new potato salad and a chocolate doughnut. Bakers was still closed, they have been hit by covid and his Mum is very ill.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/10/2021 13:46

Squirrel and you are stuck in your course and can't go out to inspect. Oh the suspense .....

Somewhere sombody is sanding their floor boards.

MissConductUS · 13/10/2021 14:03

Welcome, @StartingAgain6369, and thanks for sharing your mundane news and adorable duck pictures. Do they live in the house? I've never known anyone who had pet ducks.

Welcome, @Mamamamasaurus, and thanks for sharing your window cleaning news. Not only do I not have your window vacuum, but I also had no idea that such an appliance existed. When I get condensation on the windows, it's on the outside because we have the air conditioning on.

No much news here. I was also at the dentist last night, for a procedure called a crown lengthening. I lost the crown on an upper front tooth (number 7) a few weeks ago because the tooth underneath had fractured, leaving inadequate tooth structure to attach a new crown. The procedure was not fun, but I've had worse. It's the latest chapter in the ongoing sagas of my dental disasters.

Prok, that cake looks fabulous.

I have awesome news I can't share though as too outting. Champagne lunch anybody?

MissConductUS · 13/10/2021 14:21

Pheebs, congratulations! I'm teetotal, but brought some grapes for a snack, so I'll be with you in spirit.

Pheebs2021 · 13/10/2021 14:37

Grapes!! At least have some of the amazing cakes etc!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/10/2021 14:39

Miss That cake was indeed delicious and I needed to rest afterwards.

Silkieschickens · 13/10/2021 15:38

John, Paul and Ringo are here now and Ringo appears to be a trainee. I could hear Ringo why have you cut the electricity and Ringo don't do it like that as look there is water leaking. Ringo is removing the hot water tank with much advice from the older two.

DS is back. It is getting very noisy now so good to have DS back to cuddle his rabbit whilst its noisy. They snuggle together when the robot hoover is on. I feel really sleepy, exhausting watching workmen work, I feel like Silkiecat. Silkiecat is also sleepy. DH is sleepy too but said he will not risk workmen see him sleep. I fell asleep with no such concerns. Just hoping we have water, gas and electrics tonight but its a big job.

Squirrel26 · 13/10/2021 15:55

High vis men have now gone, but have left behind a big hole in the road. So that’s nice.

Silkieschickens · 13/10/2021 17:08

Ours are still here and DD is back - she said Shock will I not be able to have a shower tomorrow morning. DH pointed out we have an electric shower so that will be fine and she said but why do we have a boiler then? DH pointed out it was for everything else, the heating and the hot water everywhere else.

Not sure what time they will be here till. They have been here since 9.30am so far though Ringo didn't start until 1.30pm. Hoping to get our house back soon.

StartingAgain6369 · 13/10/2021 17:18

@MissConductUS My babies started off in the house from hatching up to about 12 weeks old, during that time they made many appearances on Zoom meeting

They now live outside but try and get in the house when any opportunity presents
