I see - radiator bleeding is not very loud and Dcat can hide. Our Sev was chilled as far as loud noises were concerned but he was afraid of the rustling of plastic bags.

DS is taking a shower and will then order his desk to start working - small steps, very very small steps. (the grades of 2 school years + the grades of this 4 exams + this paper all count towards Abitur, but only medicine and law want to see all grades the other areas make do with the final report).
As the saying goes "Mühsam ernährt sich das Eichörnchen!"

Silkieschickens · 12/10/2021 08:38

I would imagine some of the carpentry, plumbing and electrics work will all be very noisy as things are being cut out and new things put in but at least not same room as Silkiecat. Rabbit is totally chilled with noise, he is the most chilled out rabbit ever. Silkiecat is annoyed with dh, he has a day off and what is he doing with it, napping. Though he did solve her 4.30am tuna tin knocked over crisis. Silkiecat is not scared of plastic bags, we found her asleep in one once, a bit more fear would be no bad thing for that.

We're boarding my niece's dog for a couple of days; she's got to go to a residential meeting, and as she's just moved house (from the Midlands to Sussex) hasn't got boarding/dog sitter set up yet. He's the son/brother to our two, so it's nice to see him again.

Silkieschickens · 12/10/2021 08:43

I read that too fast Sue I read you were boarding with your nieces dog and I had visions of you in a kennel. Shock

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/10/2021 11:59

If the dog took his interior kennel design from Snoopy, it could be very nice and comfy.

Silkieschickens · 12/10/2021 13:30

I hoovered the whole house and cleaned all the upstairs. DH has just been napping and Silkiecat was not impressed. Rabbit was impressed I was playing peekabo until he discovered I had a hoover and no food. Cat didn't move.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/10/2021 13:43

Silkie I am full of admiration! Cake

I have spent 2,5 h working despite being on annual leave, DS still sitting at his desk next to me reading up in autism diagnosis and changes to the IDC?. DH has cooked tortellini and now I refuse to work until tomorrow.

Squirrel26 · 12/10/2021 14:01

In a meeting where everyone hates each other and I don’t know all the backstory so I’m not 100% sure why. Although I can guess. Hmm

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/10/2021 16:12

Squirrel I hope you are out now. Was it person to person or zoom? Were there biscuits?

Silkieschickens · 12/10/2021 16:21

Hope you don't have to do any more work on your annual leave Prok That was always one good thing about going abroad on annual leave, you could claim no or very expensive internet.

DDs record said she wasn't at school this afternoon and school didn't know where she was but she is back now and was at school and 3 teachers knew where she was for last lesson, she had a change of lesson so should be fine.

DS hasn't eaten at school again so getting him snacks and I am having a packet of quavers in solidarity and also hungry as not eaten since breakfast.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/10/2021 16:28

Silkie It will not be much more, but as I was tied to my desk anyway, I chipped in (I get the hours though).

Of course, I had to find out what quavers are. I am a fan of all things 'potatoe-y', but I do not like cheese with my potatoe snacks.

IDC?

It was an annoying combination of Teams and face-to-face meeting. Luckily I was in my office. With my camera off. Grin

I am on series 3 of Virgin River, which is very new. They are acknowledging the pandemic by having medical personnel wear masks when they are examining patients (although not when they need to take them off and Emote) but not at all otherwise.

StartingAgain6369 · 12/10/2021 20:25

Day started at 5am, washing machine was on at 5.15am, breakfast and made myself and DD pack lunches

Let my pet ducks out at approx 6am and turned on the garden floodlights so they can see

Shower, breakfast for DD and packed her off to school

Full on day at worked, school pick up at 5.45pm, home, make tea for DD

Get pet ducks into bed (they are my new babies) then make tea for myself

Help DD with homework and now feet up on the sofa

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/10/2021 21:47

Ginger ICD - I knew I got muddled

DS's wisdom teeth have started to come through - just like mine. I got all four during my Abitur. I booked him a dentist appointment to have them checked and the annual for DD for good measure.

Lemonsandlemonade · 12/10/2021 22:09

Busy few days had first short break with a child that I am a PA to. Basically a carer but employed by family via direct payments. It went well bit of a juggle ensuring DS needs were met and the child’s but all in all was pleased.

Taking an old colleague to hospital appointment tomorrow hospital is 35 miles away - the joys of ruralish living!

Silkieschickens · 12/10/2021 23:37

At least you will get paid for the hours Prok.

Ducks sound lovely StartingAgain6369 Do you have any pictures. We love ducks here but don't have a pond. Sad So have silkie chickens instead, a white one and a golden one, both super fluffy.

Silkieschickens · 12/10/2021 23:57

I have ordered a special collection for tomorrow for £30 for 6 bin sacks and 1 old vacuum cleaner. Supposed to be out by 6am tomorrow so far 1 vacuum and 2 sacks are out, rest going out at 6am.

DD went to a 6th form open day and took DS with her which was sweet of her.

Dh finally stopped napping or trying to nap as Silkiecat was not happy about this about 5.30pm to drive to the 6th form then he did clear a bit of rubbish and recycling from the kitchen. House is clean enough everywhere now though need to take clothes out of hot water tank room, DH needs to clear his desk which is about 1 metre high with who knows what Hmm and 1 metre below it with similar but a radiator is behind it. Or he at least needs to clear a pathway to the radiator. Then rabbits hay etc is infront of another radiator though that may be reachable enough as just the controls. Then by next Thursday need to empty 2 more kitchen cupboards so 4 will be empty. Could do with using the carpet cleaning machine downstairs as well due to the pets, its OK just hoovered but would be nicer carpet cleaned as well as they knock drinks and things over which have discoloured bits of carpet.

mathanxiety · 13/10/2021 05:24

I am having pleasant visions of a row of little ducks tucked up in bed. It's a Beatrix Potteresque scene, with William Morris wallpaper. Would they be upset at the thought of feather pillows and quilts though? Maybe I need to close my eyes and tap my heels together and switch to something more Scandinavian, with down alternative bedding.

The slide into autumn weather began today, with drizzle and a little chill to the air. I got home from work ravenous and looking forward to making a nice dinner with Italian sausage, but it smelled a little iffy so I went out and got sandwich fixings instead, along with what I thought was a variety bag of rolls but they turned out to be bagels of mediocre quality. I toasted one and had a nice sandwich anyway. I always feel very virtuous when I manage to incorporate spinach into a meal.

HelenaJustina · 13/10/2021 06:47

We finished the Confirmation lunch leftovers last night, I always feel virtuous and smug doing that, it’s a home cooked meal just not cooked that day!

I need to meal plan for next week, it’s only for me and DH so not too bad, but I can’t quite work up the enthusiasm. DC1 is making tiramisu in food technology today.

StartingAgain6369 · 13/10/2021 08:05

@Silkieschickens I haven't got a pond so I use a children's paddling pool and they hop in and out, I change the water every week

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/10/2021 08:08

Starting Cute - I like ducks.

DS asked me to go with him to his dentist appointment, as I need him to be calm and relaxed, I will go with him and at the same time fix my appointments to have my crowns done.
I really do fun things when on leave! Hmm

Silkieschickens · 13/10/2021 08:34

Starting They are lovely ducks. My DS would love some ducks though DH already thinks we have too many pets that's great you can just use a paddling pool. I assumed we would need a pond, we could possibly make one in our garden but paddling pool would be easier.

We are also living the dream here today too Prok at 4am I spotted a mouse in our room, its cute but we need to get it out. It was really struggling with jumping it had to jump about 20 times and fall back down before it could jump up our beams. Then we put the rest of the 6 rubbish bags and old hoover out for collection and they have now gone. DD also made 2 further bags of rubbish which went in normal black bin. Council has now collected them.

We then had danish pastries then restarted our glamourous work of washing up and clearing the rabbits litter tray. Then plumber arrives at 9am to fit a new boiler and take out old hot water tank. I am hoping this will not mean being cut off for water, gas or electricity too long. Ideally we also need to move all the things on DHs desk and move the clothes in the hot water tank room.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/10/2021 08:43

Silkie - That sounds positively adventurous!! And exhausting - you'll need cake or something to keep you going Grin.
And talking about stuff on desks. DH's papers are still there - on the sofa, on and under a bench. I continue to ignore them.
