I went out to our local shopping road today specifically to go to the cashpoint. It was rainy and dark. I bought some new underwear cheap and cheerful - not v glam. & got DS some plasters as new shoes for new job. Got home and realised the very reason I went I had not done. - so no cash - My fault so will have to take dogs out early tomorrow . I think my brain has turned into tile adhesive . Grin

Played hunt the Nhs dentist today but there are none in our county accepting new nhs patients. There is one rated 2 out of 5 in the next county I have managed to get on the list for but it says they already have over 600 new people ahead of me as well as regular patients so not much hope. Dh and the kids already have an nhs dentist so dh phoned to make an appointment for them and got given 1st June 2022 which he took but that is mid dds gcses so hers will need to be pushed back again. I phoned a private dentist and have an appointment for next Monday though may need to change it if boiler, electrician etc are turning up then but like typical workmen their exact movements are unknown until 30 mins before. I have asked them to move it to end of day at least as more chance they will be gone, they normally do early to early, otherwise not sure when gas electricity and water will be turned off plus we have to be careful with thatch and fire risk and dentist plus that is too much stress together. Though i have a tooth gone a bit black so do need to see someone.

Hope you have a lovely weekend with your DS MissC

Both mine have a day off tomorrow for teacher training. Hopefully dh will get the fridge tomorrow. I asked him about it today and he said yes I will go to the supermarket. I said the fridge, on about 4th time he heard, then said oops i forgot the fridge, will do that tomorrow. Tomorrow is usually a moving thing for dh.

DS got home safely and made very good time on his way here. We've just had a takeaway from his favorite tex/Mex restaurant. One of the cats greeted him as if he had never left. The other one looked at him in shock then ran away. Five minutes later he reappeared and inspected him. It's lovely to have him home.

DH dropped off the old snowblower for service, then two hours later the shop rang to tell him that the new one was ready to pick up, so he'll have to go back for it this weekend.

I have to go to my medical practice first thing tomorrow to have blood drawn. I have to fast before the test, so no breakfast for me.

ZZ, gun hunting is illegal in my county, so no special high vis dog attire is required. Bow hunting is allowed, but most people don't bother.

Glad DS got back safely miss. DS has his driving test tomorrow, I am diligently not thinking about it Wink

I've just remembered, DDog2 has a very fetching high viz raincoat. So I will shortly be able to fulfill two of the main requirements of this thread, animal photos and high viz Grin

I got completely drenched this morning on my way to the car heading out to work. I had an umbrella, but the point where I was half way into the driver's seat and folding the umbrella with the door still open turned out to be my undoing. We're having oddly warm and humid weather for October, with downpours and thunderstorms.

Lemonsandlemonade · 08/10/2021 05:07

DN failed driving test last week but didn’t tell anybody. One minor for driving slowly 30 in a 40 but one major came round a corner to a car on their side of road cue an emergency stop which was current but managed to bump curb slightly l. DN gutted and can’t take test again for 6 months due to Covid backlog.

Oh no @mathanxiety getting soaked sucks.

HelenaJustina · 08/10/2021 06:38

Funeral of the father of one of our pupils today. It’s the third parent from our community in two years, which is a lot for a small school.
Feeling sombre but as majority of pupils won’t have a clue, will be spending the day smiling instead.

Champagneforeveryone · 08/10/2021 06:59

Flowers helena

lemons, DS has also not told anyone which I think is genius. He's typically mooching round the house with no sense of urgency and his instructor will be here to pick him up in 10 minutes Confused

Lemonsandlemonade · 08/10/2021 07:17

@HelenaJustina 🌻 it’s hard carrying on as normal sometimes in a school. Remover to take a moment if you need to. I worked in a small school once where a little child in reception was killed in a car accident. His dad was later convicted of death by dangerous driving. It really shook the school.

12 months ago today I was having an early scan for my pregnancy 😃 seeing that tiny heart flutter on screen was amazing.

Lemonsandlemonade · 08/10/2021 07:17

Remember not remover

She does a vegan one with a beetroot in the middle, not sre what repaces the sausagemeat.

Scotch eggs are actually quite trendy here in the US now - they're available in venues other than Irish pubs.

Sorty meant to put ZZ's bit in italics followed by a Grin

Silkieschickens · 08/10/2021 08:58

Flowers Helena We had one of the Dads who came to pick up every day killed in DS's class at primary, very sad.

Changed my dentists appointment to Thursday so its later so hopefully will avoid workmen on return and have gas, electricity and water. Though at old house when we had work done I used to end up with all the workmen in my house from about 5 houses in the evening gossiping and moaning about other clients.

Need to move the appointment DH made as well as that is mid DDs GCSEs though you have to grab what you can get with dentists on NHS atm. So will move to July 2022.

Kids are off school today. DD came in and said did you tell my brother he has no school today. I said I assumed he knew. She said you are assuming my brother is far more competent than he is I will tell him. And you are on Netflix, hmmpf. Though it is my revenge for her being late every morning and ignoring me. Grin

languagelover96 · 08/10/2021 09:36

Have a good weekend everyone.

Champagneforeveryone · 08/10/2021 09:46

DS passed his driving test Shock

He can't actually drive yet until he changed his insurance so we have a few hours more peace of mind.

Pheebs2021 · 08/10/2021 09:55

Oooh congratulations how exciting!! You won't see him for a month now he will make ANY excuse to do for a drive.

Thekolschisonme · 08/10/2021 10:00

Waiting for a telephone appointment with HR and my matron. Off with long covid Sad.

HelenaJustina · 08/10/2021 10:19

Congratulations to Champagne’s DS! How terrifying to contemplate your baby on the road!

Thank you for the sympathy, very early this morning I spent 20 minutes in our Church (which is next door to our school) it was just what I needed.

I have since been pinged as a close contact by a work colleague, and am now concerned about their health and how we will cope without her for 10 days! Plus I need to be more cautious and up the LFD rate…

ILoveYouMoreTheEnd · 08/10/2021 10:27

I'll catch up this one later, I've not seen the first thread.

I've just dropped my dog off to get neutered and start work at 11 in a coffee shop. Currently sitting in my goonie and I'm meant to leave in 10 minutes 🤣🤣

HildaTablet · 08/10/2021 10:38

Big congrats to your DS, Champagne.

We keep being promised lovely weather and high temperatures but it's stubbornly grey, overcast and a bit chilly.

I finally saw my osteopath yesterday about my continuing problems with a very painful neck, shoulder and back. He diagnosed a seized-up spine and loosened things up a lot, but wants to see me again on Monday. It's quite a journey to get to him but he's very good and I do feel a lot better for it. Also, he's a very interesting person and we have great conversations while he's doing his stuff.

Silkieschickens · 08/10/2021 10:49

Congrats to your ds Champagne and Gin for your nerves when he is on his first drive.

Dd is saying she wants to go to a 2nd open event at a 6th form she is interested in she said to see if science facilities are as good as they say they are or if they are over promising Grin

Champagneforeveryone · 08/10/2021 13:31

I'm rather hoping to be at work so that I am completely oblivious when he first hits the roads Grin

BasiliskStare · 08/10/2021 13:58

@Champagneforeveryone - by ringing around we found an insurance cover for DS which was very reasonable ( and told them all true facts re usage of car. )

This may be a nice lighthearted story for the weekend. At the end of our road is an elderly French woman and the house is a back to back terrace so her only garden is at the front. She has a lovely tree in it which I thought had died. Anyway I saw her today and imagine this in a very French accent ) (I had previously seen her and said - so sorry your tree haas died ) FW ( French Woman ) I was passing and she said come here Basilisk my tree will live ( and sure enough there were green shoots ) She said - he does this every few years - he is naughty - I call him Lazarus. But he knows I will chop him and feed him - I think he knows who is in charge but he continues to be naughty.

That made me smile

MissConductUS · 08/10/2021 15:43

Welcome, @Thekolschisonme. Sorry to hear about your long covid. Have you been vaccinated? That seems to help a lot of LC patients. I just read some interesting research on the cause of LC. I'll see if I can find it.

Welcome, @ILoveYouMoreTheEnd, and thanks for sharing your canine surgical news. Might I ask what a goonie is? Google was enlightening. Also, I wouldn't bother going back to the first thread. It's at least a couple of years old at this point.

@Champagneforeveryone, congratulations on your DS's driving test result. Now the abject terror fun begins. If it's any consolation, my DS managed to drive over 200 miles on high-speed motorways coming home yesterday without incident.

Since I have today off work I went running this morning and took this picture right at the end. I skipped breakfast, then went to have my blood sample taken, then to Uncle G's, the posh Italian supermarket, as it wasn't far. I bought a few things and was so hungry at that point that I ate a freshly baked raisin scone from their bakery on my way home.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 18: Calmly through the day
