We are thinking about attending the Fryeburg Fair tomorrow. Which means I get to tell my favourite joke.

“What's 140 feet long and has nine teeth? ....the fried dough line at the Fryeburg Fair.”

hibeat · 03/10/2021 03:22

Made bread.

mathanxiety · 03/10/2021 06:14

Grin ZZ

No car today. They want to reschedule delivery to Monday. I can't do Monday.
The doughnuts were lovely. The line was about 140 feet long but they still had some cinnamon ones left.

Gingerwarthog · 03/10/2021 16:23

DH is making goulash for dinner - he's a really good cook and more experimental than me. (Last night we had Thai fish pie with filo pastry on the top. )
Wartycat is on my knee. (WC has become more feisty in his twilight years and actually batted the remote control out of my hand when I wasn't paying him enough attention).
DD is doing Maths revision and is still not fully over her non- Covid cold but is determined to go to school tomorrow.
I am having an hour with me, WC and the new Anne Cleeves which is excellent.

makelovenotpetrol · 03/10/2021 16:27

I walked to the shop and returned one of two dresses because that size was not right. I will wear the correct one to work tomorrow and feel pretty.

hookiewookie29 · 03/10/2021 16:59

Comparing heaters for our conservatory and working out how much per hour they will cost to run.
Rock and roll......

MissConductUS · 03/10/2021 17:00

Welcome, @hibeat, and thanks for sharing your baking news. Why kind of bread did you bake?

One thing I forgot to mention about our family get together yesterday was that in addition to meeting my two year old nephew for the first time, I also got to meet his four month old brother. His lovely mum did not have a concern about me holding the baby for a bit, which was just lovely. There was so much leftover chicken marsala that we brought some home with us.

I had a glorious predawn run this morning. It was about 10 degrees C, so perfect temperature. I took the first picture at the start during what's called astronomical twilight and the second as I was finishing up. That is the crescent moon (9% illuminated) in the first picture. The picture from the deck shows the leave just barely starting to turn yellowish on some trees. We are about 3 weeks from peak leaf color here.

Welcome, @hookiewookie29, and thanks for sharing your heater evaluation news with us. Life does tend to get a bit duller after you settle down and start adulting. Smile

I am going through the post & various brochures etc to see what is important and not important . No recycling bags so am using some Ocado bags ( bin men come tomorrow. ) Lovely way to spend a Sunday evening

sueelleker · 03/10/2021 18:22

Just put my recycling bins out ready for tomorrow-luckily our council doesn't mind them going out early. My poor SIL has to put hers out no earlier than 7am on the day of collection.

BasiliskStare · 03/10/2021 18:22

For all those doing quiet things - can I tell you a joke DS told me. It made me giggle

Young man goes to the pharmacist because he thinks he is on a promise from girlfriend - he asks the pharmacist for a large packet of condoms. Goes to girlfriend's house for dinner before they go out and they say grace. Young man keeps his head down - His girlfriend says "I did not know you were so religious " - he says " I did not realise your father was a pharmacist "

Squirrel26 · 03/10/2021 19:07

I got soaked riding earlier. Now I have a hot water bottle and the heating is on but I'm still cold. Dinner should be ready soon; that might help.

MissConductUS · 03/10/2021 19:46

That made me smile too, @BasiliskStare, and I have a teenaged daughter.

What's on the menu for dinner, squirrel?

I have had a slight cold - head feeling woozy, sneezing, sore throat etc but have also had the absolute shits. Unfortunately could not find the Diocalm or whatever it was I bought last time and Boots was shut on a Sunday. However, after having a dose of Lemsip for the cold at 2am whilst listening to Barry White claiming undying love for me (despite having the shits err me not Barry), I do feel better now - just as well as I am providing cover at work! I have had 2 yogurts and I have no more probs downstairs. Yay!!

hiptobeasquare · 03/10/2021 19:52

Both kids are now asleep and I can get on with my knitting.

MissConductUS · 03/10/2021 21:55

Welcome, @hiptobeasquare, and thanks for sharing your knitting news. It's beautiful! What are you making?

Squirrel26 · 03/10/2021 22:28

Macaroni cheese for dinner, @MissConductUS. Then popcorn for pudding. (I sort of bought the popcorn by mistake; I was skulking around the Co-op trying not to be seen by someone I didn’t want to talk to, so I could only go down certain aisles. Grin)

hiptobeasquare · 03/10/2021 22:36

Thanks @MissConductUS I am making myself a scarf. It’s the first proper thing I’ve made, I’ve just learned how to knit.

mathanxiety · 03/10/2021 22:41

Spent the day futzing around and getting very little done apart from the usual Sunday laundry.

DD4 made nice mac & cheese last night with bacon mixed in, and she also baked a pan of brownies. We only had Swiss cheese and Laughing Cow wedges in the fridge, but they worked really well. There's lots left over for today, and I'm making a warm broccoli salad with blue cheese, dried cranberries, and balsamic dressing to go with it.

Silkieschickens · 04/10/2021 00:14

Thanks Ginger Hope you had a nice cuddle with Wartycat.

Silkiecat had more flea treatment whilst being fed so was only slightly disgruntled and is now sleeping.

I didn't achieve much either Maths only moving money around bank accounts but DH said I achieved only being sick twice. Silkiecat achieved the same. Grin

DD went out on more partying - third meet up this weekend, had to retrieve her back at 10pm.

Had a Sunday roast and cheesecake then some after eights and lots of elderflower drinks. DH cleaned up after the rabbit apart from the fluff. We may try the robot hoover on that.

Tomorrow we hopefully have plumber and fridge repair man coming.

Lemonsandlemonade · 04/10/2021 03:18

3:15 am currently sat on floor in what will be DS room. Ollie the owl let me down and ran out of batteries when DS started to stir which meant he woke up. Queue a mad dash for new batteries.

If DS gets even a sniff of me in the room he will be screaming. 🙈

Silkieschickens · 04/10/2021 03:23

Good luck with that Lemon

I was hungry so I ate half a terrys chocolate orange.

Dh said to me for the fridge to go under the sink we need a new worktop and a new sink and a cupboard extended 5cms. I suggested we use a different cupboard instead and dh was Shock yes that would work.

Pheebs2021 · 04/10/2021 07:16

I feel dog rough today! Had fluey cold symptoms and also a bad tummy. Oh joy.

Lemonsandlemonade · 04/10/2021 08:53

Aww no @Pheebs2021 have you tested for Covid?

Getting slightly concerned about DS. He is pooping during or after every 3/4 feeds a day.

Pheebs2021 · 04/10/2021 09:07

I haven't yet I'm going to go this afternoon after work (from home) and get one done.
