Tell me about something you've bought that you dont think you can live without now. Something that isn't essential to your everyday life, doesn't have to be luxury but just something that's made a difference to your life.

I recently got a small handheld vaccum as my main wasn't working so I got a cheap one till I could research on a good one anyway its really helped with back problems as I'm not having to lug it up the stairs.
Also I had a bit extra this month so wanted to get something practical to make life that little bit easier, any suggestions?

My slow cooker. I couldn't be without it now

Mollymoostoo · 06/09/2021 21:42

Instapot or Crockpot express multi cooker. Best thing I ever bought and the only electric cooking gadget I actually use daily.

couldthisbeit · 06/09/2021 21:49

Having to stop myself going on a shopping spree now!Grin

Sillysuzie · 06/09/2021 21:52

A propper massage gun with different heads. Under 50 quid. Gets all the knots out after a workout, hurts, but feel brand new after and doesn't take long, no more aching for days!

peboh · 06/09/2021 21:55

Spotify premium, YouTube premium and my kindle unlimited subscription. I like my music and reading haha.

itsgettingwierd · 06/09/2021 21:57

My soup maker.

£30 in the sale. It's a small 1ltr one but I can make 2 lots and it does 5 days worth of lunches!

My kindle. My Ds is swimmer. No more books getting soggy at swim meets!

icedcoffees · 06/09/2021 22:00

My kitten!

He was from a farm litter and a totally spontaneous purchase to add to our other two resident cats.

He's super cute 🥰

Never heard of coverless duvets before this thread. What is the point of them? Having to wash a whole duvet every week doesn’t sound like a win...

TonyThreePies · 06/09/2021 22:17

I don't know what they are called but chub rub pants.
Spider catcher.
Gadget that cuts tablets. It's a bit blunt now it's had so much use so need to get another.

ChocolateDeficitDisorder · 06/09/2021 22:18

Having to wash a whole duvet every week doesn’t sound like a win...

It's just as quick as washing a duvet cover, easy and quick to dry and back on the bed with no cover to wrestle with.

I set the tumble dryer to finish just in time for bed so the duvet is still warm when I get in.

NatWestPigFamily · 06/09/2021 22:20

Can anyone recommend a large family sized slow cooker with a low and high setting and automatic shut off timer please? Thanks

poshme · 06/09/2021 22:24

@goldenphoenix which headband please? I'm very interested!

nopuppiesallowed · 06/09/2021 22:39

You don't need to buy a moisture meter for pot plants. Once a week dunk them up to the top of the pot in a bucket of water for 15 minutes. Remove from the bucket and drain for 15 minutes. I used to kill my pot plants until my green fingered mother in law taught me this...

Zakky1 · 06/09/2021 22:39

Lots of slow cookers mentioned. I have one but have only used it a handful of times. I find that the flavour doesn't go in to the meat.

What are your winning slow cooker recipes?

Slow Cooker, can get many for well under even £20 and it’s a game changer, I work from home have nursery and school runs to do so if I can just bung something in on the morning and at least know dinners sorted so I’m not slaving between 3-5 when sometimes I might have to work. Wouldn’t be without it

Lupinhere37 · 06/09/2021 23:00

@Benjispruce5 I totally agree. My beautiful little rescue dog. Best £100 ever spent. I love her so much, it is actually ridiculous!
For those not wanting a rescue dog, I recommend the Salter omelette maker, for £20 from Asda. I have seen them in other shops as well. I have the most amazing, fuss free omelettes now; can deep fill with vegetables or whatever you wish. They cook perfectly and without any mess or sticking. I’ll never cook another omelette in a pan.

@Blueleah

All of these people with heated throws - do you not worry that electric current induces magnetism so you’re basically sitting under a big magnet? Several studies have raised questions about whether electric blankets can increase the risk of cancer.

Proper trenchcoat from Banana Republic several years ago - I love it, it keeps me dry and makes me feel like a very glamorous spy - would not be without it

wavesandwaves · 06/09/2021 23:13

@isthismylifenow oooh would love a link to the Swan water machine please!

wavesandwaves · 06/09/2021 23:20

Loved this thread!

I bought some sateen Egyptian cotton bed sheets and they are the best thing I’ve bought in a while! That plus a mattress topper, down duvet and down pillows (all under £100 on their own) make for a flawless nights sleep!

OooPourUsACupLove · 07/09/2021 00:00

When people have game changer food prep items like rice cookers, omelette makers and soup makers, it makes me worry that my cooking is actually dreadful but I've never known the true potential of rice, omelette and soup to realise what I'm missing! Confused

Chocolateemergency · 07/09/2021 00:06

@BirdyBee

My heated throw, its so lovely in the colder months, my 3 year old loves snuggling under it as well with me! Cost about £60.
@BirdyBee love the sound of this, don’t suppose you have a link?
Lozzie86 · 07/09/2021 00:35

Instant pot for sure. It has rice and slow cook settings too. I couldn't be without it now!

Lupinhere37 · 07/09/2021 00:56

@OooPourUsACupLove my cooking is “interesting”. I can’t follow recipes; only “throw it all together” food. Hence the omelette maker. Omelettes have suddenly achieved their full potential Grin!!
