Tell me about something you've bought that you dont think you can live without now. Something that isn't essential to your everyday life, doesn't have to be luxury but just something that's made a difference to your life.

I recently got a small handheld vaccum as my main wasn't working so I got a cheap one till I could research on a good one anyway its really helped with back problems as I'm not having to lug it up the stairs.
Also I had a bit extra this month so wanted to get something practical to make life that little bit easier, any suggestions?

@AuntMargo

amazon echo dot, just love it, listening to my audio books in bed
Oh I didn’t know you could do that! How do you set it up to do that?

Rice cookers are handy if you use them a lot, but any microwave-safe bowl with a loose fitting cover or pierced clingfilm will do fine. I use a cup of rice and 2 cups hot water - and microwave for 10 mins, fluff with fork, then stand covered for a few mins.

@RubySlippers123 and others who asked about the Bluetooth eyemask

I can't find my exact one but these are practically identical. Amazon and eBay have loads of different brands!

@PegasusReturns Thank you!! I ordered the springy thing hair remover this morning from Amazon and it has just arrived - 2 minutes later, no moustache (slightly teary eyes but hey!). It is indeed brilliant!

@MyPatronusIsACat

White noise/ambient sounds sleep pod.

Cuts EVERYTHING out. Can't hear a thing from neighbours or outside (neighbourhood sounds, and wildlife etc.) ALL blocked out. Absolutely amazing.

Also Alexa. Can't live without her now! Got the amazon music thing with 50 million songs, and I can play what I want when I want, and ask for ANY radio station, and it's there within 3 seconds.

Hi @MyPatronusIsACat please can you give more details about the sleep pod? Thanks Smile

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously

Thought of another one - leggings with pockets. Means I can go out without a handbag and also keep my phone on me when I'm in the house - no more tear arseing downstairs to get to it before it stops ringing because I've forgotten to take it upstairs with me!
Best thing ever. Sketchers go walk leggings are fab and last for ages.

Jar opener. The same kind my granny had.

My paper white kindle.
A camelback flask, I have to add cold water to my coffee otherwise it’s far too hot even after hours.

Daisychainsandglitter · 06/09/2021 21:22

@BambooWhoosh I'm afraid I can't remember the exact make but it's a Shiatsu back, neck and shoulder massager with heat. I've just had a quick google and it seems as though there are a lot of brands offering the same type of product. Mine was about £55 when I bought it.

BambooWhoosh · 06/09/2021 21:24

Thanks Daisy - I'll have a look.

Crisp bedding it's always feels amazing

Furries · 06/09/2021 21:31

@SpamThief - the platform is around 1m from the ground, so you do need a step ladder to get onto it. I already had this one, I just have it sideways on in front of the platform. As you can tell, I’m really not a fan of stupid thin ladder rungs 😂

I got it via Amazon, it was supplied by this company:

www.abbeyaccess.co.uk/contact_us.htm

You could give them a call to find out whether you can purchase direct from them

Thank you!
I will try and decipher the technical details.
I had given up after so many dud adapters, which is a shame since the speaker is a good one.[/quote]
Worst comes to the worst, if your speaker has an aux-in you can always get something like this: www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Bluetooth-Receiver-Wireless-Streaming-Black/dp/B01J5DYWTW?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I think the DocklinQ one I linked to has an option to run as aux-in as well.

The only difference to an ipod dock adapter is you will need to have a separate USB power cable for it (and actually depending on your dock, you might need that even with the ipod adapter)

Actually that's a point - with the adapters that failed, did you try running them with a separate power supply? Not all docks provide enough power to run an adapter.

Earlier this year I spent 50 quid on a Shark handheld vacuum to replace my broken car vacuum.
It's absolutely brilliant! I use it on the stairs, curtains, cat beds and cushions. Oh and I use it for the car tooGrin
