Tell me about something you've bought that you dont think you can live without now. Something that isn't essential to your everyday life, doesn't have to be luxury but just something that's made a difference to your life.

I recently got a small handheld vaccum as my main wasn't working so I got a cheap one till I could research on a good one anyway its really helped with back problems as I'm not having to lug it up the stairs.
Also I had a bit extra this month so wanted to get something practical to make life that little bit easier, any suggestions?

A bedside pocket that sits alongside you and is brilliant for holding Kindle, glasses, paracetamol etc, etc. It can't be seen when the duvet cover is thrown over it.

Fitflop Rally trainers. Cured my plantar fasciitis.

@Thewiseoneincognito is this the peeling solution? Trying to hunt it down as we speak but am seeing no "face mask" per se

SpamThief · 06/09/2021 13:41

@Furries, can I ask about your platform? I have been looking to buy one of those for a while! The one you’ve linked to looks great, and very sturdy. Is it easy to get up and down from or do you need to have a step-ladder to get you onto it in the first place?

This looks brilliant and I could have a clearer bedside table!

Corrective insoles for £7, Amazon...I was crippled with foot pain few months ago!

coffeeschmoffee · 06/09/2021 13:47

Thanks @yellowsofa Sounds great. I'm definitely going to try Olaplex on my hair. Anything that makes it more manageable is a win!

@MadCattery I got my parents to buy me a Bissel pro-heat spot cleaner for my carpets, got it second hand for a bargain from eBay and have never looked back. Great wee machine!

Period pants for daughter Lilly cup for me Grin
Would you recommend the Lily cup? I am looking for an alternative to mooncup which I find quite uncomfortable... thanks in advance!
userxx · 06/09/2021 13:55

@AchillesLastStand Have you tried fabulosa ? It's the same as Zoflora but much cheaper and nicer smells.

AchillesLastStand · 06/09/2021 13:58

@userxx no I haven’t, I’ll definitely have a look out for that. Thanks!

My best buy ever was a travel mug tea/coffee machine that cost £30, fill it with water, add teabags or instant coffee to the mugs and let the machine heat the water and drip into the travel mugs. Used it in the yard for years but it broke and i have never found another. I know i could just use a kettle but i loved that thing.

Another vote for dehumidifier, bought for £85 in B&Q sale 15 years ago.
Clothes dry overnight in the winter and no extra moisture in the air indoors, which really matters in my very old, cold house.

LIDL leg wax strips. I use them to do my eyebrows and the packet has so far lasted me 5 years 😛

Nespresso coffee machine.
Some silk flowers from John Lewis. Got a couple of them a while ago, absolutely in love with them and they still bring me joy.

The electric blanket for my bed!

When I first bought it, I lived in a horrible drafty terraced house that was always cold. The worst time was getting into a freezing cold bed. The purchase of the electric blanket made the last winter in that house tolerable!!

I've long since moved, but still love my electric blanket!

@Summersnake

Could someone put up a photo of their mini hoover ,I’m after one with a handle ,but light weight and able to do stairs
yes please - we only have stairs and landing carpet, so any recommendations for something suited to that would be brilliant

And all my rescue cats!

SilverOtter · 06/09/2021 15:54

My electric heat pad. Think it was about £40-50 from Argos. Absolute game changer! So soothing on backache/period pains/when it's cold.

NeverTalkToStrangers · 06/09/2021 16:07

@Daisychainsandglitter

A shiatsu back, neck and shoulder massager. I'm pretty sure I have piriformis syndrome and it brings some temporary welcome relief.
Can you link to the one you've got please Daisy? I think my mum would really benefit.
PeppermintMocha · 06/09/2021 16:13

Someone unthread mentioned running headband with Bluetooth for music - where do you find these? I have seen eye mask ones for sleeping, but not sports.

RubySlippers123 · 06/09/2021 16:18

@FusciasBright21

Eye mask with built in headphones. I have tinnitus and also sleep really lightly so this helps me fall and stay asleep. When I worked nights it was a godsend!
Where is this from???
soberfabulous · 06/09/2021 16:22

@Guineapigbridge

Joseph Joseph microwave rice cooker

I cook rice and quinoa properly now, without an overflowing pot or sticky rice muck everywhere.

I can vouch for this: life changing!
