Tell me about something you've bought that you dont think you can live without now. Something that isn't essential to your everyday life, doesn't have to be luxury but just something that's made a difference to your life.

I recently got a small handheld vaccum as my main wasn't working so I got a cheap one till I could research on a good one anyway its really helped with back problems as I'm not having to lug it up the stairs.
Also I had a bit extra this month so wanted to get something practical to make life that little bit easier, any suggestions?

I've just bought some hooded eye lid tape too. It's magic. I actually look slightly less haggard and takes less than 30 seconds to put on.

@coffeeschmoffee
Just wanted to add that I'm on my second bottle of shampoo and conditioner since January and still using the same No 6 and 7...which I reckon will last 2 more years.

A heated mattress cover.

Music subscription.

Piglet89 · 06/09/2021 12:10

Oven Mate oven cleaner has worked absolute miracles on the integrated oven in the house we have moved into. Was recommended on here.

Amazing.

Dillyjones72 · 06/09/2021 12:13

Sea shoes! Cost £11 and are amazing. We have a pebble beach and it’s agony getting into the water without them…

purplesequins · 06/09/2021 12:16

BahHumbygge · 06/09/2021 12:22

More coffee stuff:

V60 dripper and gooseneck kettle for doing pour over
Stainless steel Bialetti moka pot

Changing over to The World's Best Cat Litter. I used to lug standard bags home each week from the supermarket, but since changing I no longer have to do that.

The litter is great, you just scoop out the poops and wee and that's it. No smell and I'm only replacing with two cupfuls of fresh litter per tray each day. A bag lasts around five weeks. I'm saving money, there's less to store and I just order it online. Can't recommend it enough.

@Furries

Dreamland faux fur heated throw - my house is really old and never feels really arm. This has been a godsend and I’ve definitely saved on heating bills since snuggling under this.

Breville cafe-style sandwich press. Lovely toasted sandwiches, one of the few things I like about autumn/winter.

A tin of Tom’s Oil paint from Little Greene Paint Co. it gives a lovely finish and is really hard-wearing. I’ve just done my kitchen cabinets and feel like I’ve got a new kitchen for under £100!

My last one is a slight “cheat” as it was £115. A decorating platform. My place has got high ceilings. I’m really short and not a fan of heights - have never got on with ladders as I’ve never felt safe on their stupidly thin rungs. This feels sturdy and I feel so much safer on the wide platform - it’s going to more than pay for itself by saving on paying for decorators. It’s out of stock at the moment, but this is the one I got:

www.amazon.co.uk/Abbey-Folding-Scaffold-Platform-Ladder/dp/B01IFGVBQM/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

Fleece bedding from Next a few years ago. So cosy during winter.

Any of my David Austin standards and shrubs. Got them last summer, quality on arrival was great and I still had new buds coming through well into November. The growth over the last year has been fantastic, they now look really well established. I’m a rose convert now and keep looking for anywhere I can squeeze in some more!

Diamond painting kits from Victoria’s Moon. I’m useless at drawing/painting/knitting etc. These were great during the winter lockdown months.

The £100 I took from my very small pot of savings and used to start me on my matched betting journey. I’m very risk adverse, so this was quite a big thing for me to do. I’m very basic in what I do, haven’t put in the effort to learn some of the more complicated stuff such as extra places. I started almost 2 years ago, but I also hardly did anything for around 9 months after Covid hit. So far, I’ve turned that £100 into £10k which is such a comfort to know I have funds in case things breakdown etc.

Furries... Do you have a preferred matching betting platform/ software you use? I started back in March but haven't done much over the past few months. Really need to get back into it. I was using oddsmonkey but I hate their app/online website.

Hand hoover. Ours was £15 from Aldi. Sucks up liquids as well as dry particles, so great for hoovering off the table top when our toddler has finished eating. Good for the stairs and the car too, and bagain for the price.

V pillow for reading/watching tv in bed. Dunelm do a lovely one a faux fur leopard print cover.

Netflix subscription. I can’t imagine my life without Netflix now!

Zoflora which I rediscovered during lockdown. They used do just do overpowering floral fragrances which I wasn’t keen so, but now you can get really nice ones like mandarin and lime. Makes everywhere smell fresh and clean.

discusstin · 06/09/2021 12:38

Rice cooker.
Pressure cooker.
Pilot Frixion pens which rub out.
Garden swing chair which is incredibly relaxing.
Snag tights, will never look back.
Extra extra extra long garden hose which stretches out and then contracts.
Little electric chopper for things like onions, ginger, garlic.
My kittens.

CandidaAlbicans2 · 06/09/2021 12:38

Oxo Good Grips Spiralizer. Now I always have courgetti with my bolognese sauce (an easy way of increasing my veg intake) rather than pasta. A very good buy.

Furries · 06/09/2021 12:40

@Teaandcakeordeath83 - I use OddsMonkey (website, not app) and I don’t mind it.

Are you a member of Team Profit? If not, get yourself signed up to them. It’s free, their website/tutorials are great and the Facebook group is also really useful. They are affiliated with Profit Accumulator and have got a £1 trial for their software. I know a few people on the FB group prefer PA to OM.

When you’ve built up your pot of profit, it’s also worth looking into Team Casino (sister site to Team Profit). It’s not free, there’s a monthly fee, but it’s worth it - their guides (both welcome offers and daily reload offers) are way better than what I’ve seen on OM and PA. They’ve also got great tools on the website. I do more casino than MB and I’d say my profit is 60/40 casino/MB.

NonShallot · 06/09/2021 12:43

@Thanksihateit

Breville toastie maker

That’s it. It’s revolutionised my WFH-lunches

Same! I bought it for DH for his birthday and I use it more than he does. I've often remarked that it is the best present I've ever given someone else Grin
Teaandcakeordeath83 · 06/09/2021 12:50

@Furries thank you very much. I'll have a look at that. I've avoided casino like the plague because it looks so faffy and I don't understand it but looks like I should just get over that! 😂

Ori3 · 06/09/2021 12:53

My little wax heater & wax beads. Cost me £22 from Amazon & has save me literally £100’s. Don’t have to go to salon anymore to have my chin/upper lip done, just one a week warm up the beads in the pot, paste it on the troublesome areas & remove! Such a wise purchase

ifIwerenotanandroid · 06/09/2021 13:11

I really hope these are going to be game-changers, as I only just got them & haven't used them in anger yet: seat belt adjusters at £5 a pair. They're black plastic clips that mean your seat belt divides closer to the centre of your body, so the shoulder part is comfortable & stays put (I hope) rather than squashing one breast & then riding over it/moving about/rubbing your neck, all of which happens for me in modern cars.

I put one on my driver's seat belt (very comfortable) & one on the passenger side of DH's car (better than without, but I swear the passenger seat & footwell was designed as some form of medieval-style instrument of torture - he's fine driving that car but then he's a bloke & a foot taller than me).

They ARE game changers! I'm only 4ft11" and have sports-type seats in my car, which limits how the seatbelt adjusts. I forever had red marks on my neck from the belt chafing it, or was constantly moving it. I've been absolutely fine since getting one of these little things - no more irritation or adjustment, the belt sits exactly where it should. I even did an emergency stop from 30mph (on an empty road) to check that it didn't affect the seatbelt tensioners...
ifIwerenotanandroid · 06/09/2021 13:19

Pilot G-2 gel pens are simply the best thing ever if you've got any hand/wrist/RSI type problems. They're smooth-writing & have the most comfortable ergonomic grip, & they come in a huge range of colours.

About £2-3 each, or buy in bulk once you're addicted like me.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 06/09/2021 13:20

Cheers, MrsArrison!

This is going to be a very bad thread for me... I haven't read any of it other than glance at at the OP... I will lock up my pin number somewhere now. Shock

My best purchase under £100 is a pair of Morlands sheepskin slippers. The most comfortable, supportive and long-lasting slippers ever. £65 and they're still perfect 3 years later.

Furries · 06/09/2021 13:30

@Teaandcakeordeath83 - casino can be a bit more “swingy” than MB, it’s a long-term game and you need to be able to ride the variance.

I honestly would say don’t do any casino offers unless you sign up to Team Casino. Casino offers that get sent to you can look great, but delve into the T&c’s and they’re actually awful offers that will definitely lose you money.

The guides on TC are fantastic. There is a separate guide for every single offer each day. Each guide tells you the best strategy/slot to use for each individual offer. They also have their own Facebook group which is a helpful and supportive community.

I was petrified at the thought of casino in the beginning, but now happily wager away on offers. There is no way I would have attempted it, or reached my profit, without my subscription to TC.
