Did your newborns hair colour change?

My DD (3 weeks old) was born with lovely brown hair. I'm a mousey blonde myself and I've always hated being so fair so I was secretly pleased that she was a brunette

However my mum has just informed me that I was born with the same hair colour and it all fell out and came back blonde within a few months.

So was just curious what others babies hair stories were! Is it the norm for their first hair to not be their actual hair colour?

Obviously it doesnt really matter either way she is gorgeous, I'm just curious!

Both of mine were mousy when born then went blonde.

Yes.
All 3 of mine were born with a mop of really dark, almost black hair.
They now all have mousy brown hair

All 3 started off dark, from very dark brown to a lighter brown and all 3 were blonde before they were 1!

LO was ginger til it fell out, has gone blonde. Both me and DH were blonde as babies - mine went dark and his went ginger at around 3 so kiddos final hair colour is anyone’s guess!

His grandparents all had different hair colour as well - black, brown, ginger and blonde 🤣 I should start a family pool…

Yes, DC1 went from black to dark brown, DC2 from very light brown to the same dark brown as DC1.

4 dc, 3 born with dark brown hair, 2 went white blond, 1 went light blond. 1 dc born with strawberry blond hair and his has stayed strawberry blond.

My first son was born with thick black hair, it fell out and went blonde. It’s now dark brown at almost 13. My second son’s hair has always been dark brown but went super curly at one.

Born with grey eyes and black hair.
Was pale blonde with brown eyes by her first birthday, after which its darkened to light brown.

Yes, both of my boys got fairer and eldest is now going darker again at 5.

Ds was born with dark blonde almost brown hair with bleach blonde highlights. They were the talk of the ward

He now has bleach blonde hair

DS had almost black hair when he was born which was completely straight that changed into gorgeous blonde ringlets and waves. He's now 4 and has straight sandy brown hair - I kind of miss the curls he had but this suits him much better

I have 3,
dc1 born bright orange, hair, 18 years later slightly more muted same orange
dc2 born with blonde hair and blue eyes has gradually darkened, now dark brown.
dc3 born with light brown hair, has been lighter and darker over the years, but now dark brown. (well, technically now blue, but that's not natural )

but my brother was born with jet black hair and it all fell out and then he was white blonde
and my neice (his dd) was alos born with dead straight jet black hair and pale white skin. By age 1 she had brown tight curls and brown skin. Completely different!

One born with black hair that turned strawberry blonde and straight then gradually darkened to a mousey brown with gold highlights in ringlets.

One started fair, wispy/curly and ended up with completely straight, rich dark brown hair.

DD was born with dark brown hair, that mostly fell out about 2 months old. Hair then grew back as a red-gold that is now auburn at 8.

My eldest had dark brown hair. Still does. My youngest mousy brown & now blonde.

Dd1 was born with a mop of thick dark brown hair non of it fell out and is is still the same colour.
Ds and dd2 were born with gorgeous orange hair which fell out with in a few weeks and came back mousy brown. Ds’ hair has gradually darkened and is now mid brown dd2 is old a baby but I expect hers to be the same as her brothers.

DD was born the most magnificent mass of black hair, it went golden brown and it’s still the same colour, age 12.

Ds had dark hair when born, was then very blonde for a few years. As a teen he is now mid brown.

Yep was born with dark blonde hair which turned carrot red by 4 months, back to light blonde by 9 months which is seemed to settle on for 6 years and now we are back to dark blonde

Both my dc were born with jet black hair. One has gone dark blonde and the other dark brown.

Both bright blonde. Pre teens now and still both blonde but Dd1 is more of a honey blonde whereas Dd2 is the same icy blonde.

Dd1s eyes changed too (to green) whereas dd2s stayed bright blue.

Dd1: black hair, dropped out around 4 months and grew back brown. Dh gutted as he has black hair.
Dd2: blonde hair, never dropped out. At 2 the roots are a bit darker than the ends. I was blonde and went brown as a tween, so I'm guessing she'll be the same. It's funny though, they also have different eye colours and look nothing alike at the moment.
