Broom house farm was busy today but was very well run.
Merry Christmas 🎄 to everyone 🍾 🥂 🎅 .
Hope 🎅 is generous.

TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat · 25/12/2021 00:16

Merry Christmas from me Xmas Smile.

Boxing Day brunch is on again Smile. That's when DCs and I will exchange presents which I have yet to wrap

Someaddedsugar · 27/12/2021 19:06

Hope you had a lovely brunch @TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat!

Has anyone been to Sainsburys at the Arnison Centre today? Just wondering if they have any cheap cards/gift wrap (yes I am one of those people Grin).

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas 🎄. We had a quiet one, love it. Just wish DH would occasionally turn the tv off. I like to listen to the radio during the day. Not watch repeats.
Good luck everyone trying to bag a bargain.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/12/2021 19:43

Hey I lost you all. Hope you all
Had a good Christmas and germs are not too bad

I’ve not braved sainsburys Darlington yet for wrapping stuff (I’m one of them too). Aldi had nowt much left

Someaddedsugar · 29/12/2021 19:14

Sainsburys in Durham didn't have any wrap or cards either @lifelongfrugaleer but the M&S did - lots of cards, wrap, bags etc. I bought a stash to put away as some of the gift wrap is suitable for birthdays and it was half price. Love a good bargain 😂.

I'm hoping the weather picks up as it's not been too nice here!

@AlviarinAesSedai hope you manage some no-tv time!

I got some in Morrisons when I went to b&q

AlviarinAesSedai · 30/12/2021 11:21

Well done everyone on bargain hunting.
I’m in my bedroom listening to the radio. Blush

PickAChew · 30/12/2021 14:13

That reminds me of the Christmas that Ds1 was obsessed with Pointless and The Chase and Challenge had them on rotation all day, every day 😣

PickAChew · 30/12/2021 14:14

We went for a wander around Darlo, this morning. Didn't go in any shops but got Ds1 out of the house and on his feet for a bit.

Someaddedsugar · 30/12/2021 14:17

I don't blame you @AlviarinAesSedai!

@PickAChew I don't think I could put up with Bradley Walsh for that long 😂

I got control of remote today 😆. Finally watched Christmas Strictly. And other rubbish tv. Not sure anyone was pleased.
Did go for a walk around Durham riverside. The river is very high and the geese very noisy. Lots of people seemed to have the same idea.

Happy New Year.

PickAChew · 31/12/2021 19:41

That rain last night was pretty heavy. Had a waitrose delivery (peak mumsnet. Not sorry) this morning, and the drivers cover a huge area of the NE and Cumbria (but don't go east of Durham, which used to disappoint me) and he had a lot of flooding to avoid on his way here.

TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat · 01/01/2022 00:24

Just popping on to wish everyone a Happy New Year Xmas Smile

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/01/2022 08:22

Happy new year x

Someaddedsugar · 01/01/2022 09:24

Happy new year everyone 🥂.

Jealous of your Waitrose delivery @PickAChew!

Covid map has a new colour and it's already caught up with us

I was watching the news last night and they mentioned the high case rate here - I was shocked! I didn't anticipate it being that high. And I'd imagine if the new symptoms can appear like a cold there'll still be a number of people not testing for it.

Hope anyone who went back to work yesterday had a good first day back.

Yep DH works at James Cook and admissions are definitely rising. He's particularly worried about the ambulance issue as it's going to have a big impact on his department. He's very very stressed at the moment.

AlviarinAesSedai · 05/01/2022 19:38

Gosh our rates are awful. But on lighter note I don’t like the colour change.

PickAChew · 05/01/2022 20:21

Yeah, the change to black for 1600+ cases was announced and immediately swamped London. There's not much left that isn't black or dark purple, today!

Someaddedsugar · 05/01/2022 20:38

Hope your DH is ok @wonkylegs - it must be very hard at the moment.

I'm not a fan of the new colour either!

We've started house hunting again and there doesn't seem to have been a single reasonably priced house listed since mid-December! I hope more come on the market soon as we have six months left in our current property before the buyer wants to be in and I'm starting to feel anxious about the situation.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/01/2022 20:39

Wonder if it’s purposely dark.
We moved at the pend of October and there is not much about sugar. Are you Durham way too?

AlviarinAesSedai · 05/01/2022 20:44

I’ve gone from just before Christmas to only knowing 3 people who have had Covid, to now knowing whole families.
It just feels like a matter of time before I catch it.
I am worried about University Durham hospital because they seem to be full in normal times! I’m always shocked that University hospital has less beds than old Dryburn, and the population has increased so much more.
And going to continuing to grow!
