Do you have a nice bum?

My bum looks a bit like it's melting, or perhaps making an escape attempt by sliding down my legs.

What's the most effective way to get a nice toned bum? I walk loads every day but that's clearly not enough. Does the answer involve one million squats?

Yes, sorry. I’m 48 and now have a nice bum for the first time in my life. It’s taken about two years. Before it looked like I’d been whacked on the arse with a scaffolding board, now it’s hardly bootylicious but is at least there. Good luck.

Palavah · 25/08/2021 22:49

Genetics
Youth
Lunges, split squats, sumo squats, donkey kicks, hydrants, clams

doadeer · 25/08/2021 22:53

All manner of horrible exercises
Genes

ThreeWitches · 25/08/2021 23:05

Yep, but i've always had it; it's the genetics.

I also play tennis regularly which helps to tone it.

Melliferous · 25/08/2021 23:10

Lunges it is then! I might split it into chunks and do them throughout the day. 100 lunges chopped into 5 doesn't seem too awful!

@palavah I'll have to google most of those! Can't imagine what hydrants and clams might be Grin

Well done, @IShouldBeSoLurky enjoy your peachy bum, sounds like you've worked for it. @ThreeWitches, enjoy the gift that nature gave you!

I'll be in the kitchen lunging as I wait for the kettle to boil...

Its a combination as mentioned above of genetics, exercise and youth.

My mum told me my bum would drop when I had ds because hers did when she had me (first born)
It hasn't, but since having ds 3 days a week I use a treadmill at various inclines for an hour, 2 days a week I do full body weight training sessions. During lockdown I walked everyday for miles because ds was less than 1 and dh worked (and still is) from home and took over the livingroom due to space.

Before having ds I trained with dh and trained muscle groups so 2 days a week a deadlifted as part of training legs and back.

No, my bum is so flat you'd be hard pressed to tell my back from my front. I wish I could say it's because I'm just so slim and petite but I'm currently a size 18 thanks to a lockdown-induced binge eating disorder relapse Blush

Etinox · 25/08/2021 23:23

Yes, it’s fantastic. I use it for sitting on and pooing.
Sheesh, get some fresh air or read a book.

BigRedFrog · 25/08/2021 23:23

Mine looks like it's been trying to mate with the backs of my knees for years.
However, I never look at my rear view, so I don't care 😁

Miarara · 25/08/2021 23:25

There's a woman on YouTube called Bailey brown who does butt lift workouts, they're only short but really effective!

Sheesh, I managed a to finish a book and have a long walk today. The arse certainly helped with the walk but was not much assistance with the reading. Although maybe the lunges will develop my arsehole's capability in that regard. I'll keep you updated, sweet cheeks.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you find yourself on an even keel soon.

@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese, I did a few weightlifting sessions back in 2019 and did enjoy them. Thank you for the reminder!

I do not.

I have nice boobs though and I believe that one or the other is enough. Please don't take this away from me.

Mine was great when I was doing 20 mile runs in the mountains. Now it’s pretty flat. The thing that honestly helped most though was a close friend saying “I’m not trying to be weird but you have the loveliest bum” - somehow coming from her I seem to believe it. Can you just get a mate to be nice to you? Way easier than bloody sumo squats!

OhWhyNot · 25/08/2021 23:29

Mine is round and big naturally that way no exercise but not as nice as it was

Not starting to flatten out yet (all women in my family have large round bums) but getting rounder in the middle Hmm

Elverybaby · 25/08/2021 23:30

I did when I used to cycle everywhere.

Melliferous · 25/08/2021 23:30

@movingadviceneeded, I am confident that you are in possession of the very best boobs. And that is more than enough.

OP posts:
Melliferous · 25/08/2021 23:34

@Verbena87, of your two suggestions I will definitely opt for aggressively lobbying my pals to pay me compliments over 20 mile runs in the mountains (!) Grin

That's bollocks about youth I have the best bum I've ever had and I'm over 50. And I've seen plenty of awful bums a lot younger than mine.
I do loads of active stuff, walking, yoga, gym, swimming etc

Etinox · 25/08/2021 23:41

@Melliferous
My half in jest point was that a generation ago, having a what we’d now appreciate as a great arse just wasn’t a thing. I’m bookmarking lots of the suggestions

DancingLady · 25/08/2021 23:42

Used to hate my sticky-out bum and wish for a flat, boyish shape (it was the 90s and heroin chic was big). I'm 46 and love it now.

catinthewindow · 25/08/2021 23:45

My bum is fabulous 😆

I don’t do squats
I do run 30 miles a week
But I also eat lots of cake

So you could do a Meatloaf and go for the two out of three (no squats and plenty of cake … and hope? 😂)

Flowers500 · 25/08/2021 23:55

Working with weights!

Squats without weights are a waste of time
