I'm off to town today to check a dormant account.

I've had a letter from Santander to say I have q dormant Instant Saver account so I am heading into town to find out how much is in there.

Anyone want to help guess?

For background, I opened the account over 15 years ago and at that time was earning about £28k.

I drove a new car and saved up enough to travel the world, but what is left in this forgotten account.

Did I stash a cheeky grand. Or £100 to open it. Or is it empty or maybe containing £4.36.

I'm quite excited.

What do you all think?

@Itwasgoodwhileitlasted

The total amount was £130.57.

I do believe the closest guess was by @RobinPenguins congratulations!! Name the chocolate bar of your choice and I will post this luxury prize to you.

For those who are interested, I decided to buy school shoes out of money already allocated and blow my new found wealth on treats instead.

So far £35 on a much coveted hype hoodie for DS2.

I might go a luxurious bath oil.

That still leaves about £70. What shall I spend it on???? I have no idea!

The Caribbean will have to wait. I still have that stubborn 1/2 stone to lose after lockdown so maybe it wasn't meant to be. Just yet anyway.

Will celebrate tonight with a 🍷

Long may my luck continue and I hope you all have good luck too. Cheers to that.

That's a lovely treat. You could get a spa day if you hunt for a deal. Or gin.

@SunshineCake was that the one who had a pick up truck parked on her drive or something along those lines?

Amdone123 · 20/08/2021 16:19

@Itwasgoodwhilstitlasted, yay ! That was quite a good result! Awh bet your ds is chuffed with his hoodie- what a lovely mum you are. Oohh bath oil would be on my list. Love a good soak. Enjoy ! Thanks for the entertaining thread and for the update. I'll sleep better tonight now.

BarbaraofSeville · 20/08/2021 16:20

Wow. Not too shabby, because let's face it, it was never going to be holiday in the Caribbean money was it. No-one forgets that amount of money.

I'd go for a really fancy takeaway, one of those that's more akin to restaurant food, or something like sushi, rather than a dirty kebab. Plus a nice bottle of fizz.

Bagamoyo1 · 20/08/2021 16:20

@WorraLiberty

That still leaves about £70. What shall I spend it on????

Get yourself a hobby?

🤣
Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 20/08/2021 16:21

@OldTinHat I will with my next BIG win I promise.

I can smell the suncream already.

I am quite chuffed with the money to be fair. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick indeed.

That’s very kind OP but no need, treat yourself to your favourite chocolate bar to go with that wine Wine I’ll enjoy the satisfaction of guessing nearly right Grin

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 20/08/2021 16:26

Oh a spa day sounds lush. Or maybe a manicure. I've only ever had one.

I might do a lotto ticket too. You never know. Maybe it is a winning streak Smile

Yay! Enjoy your wealth op 🤣

Marriedatfirstyear · 20/08/2021 17:33

I had a dormant one with Alliance and Leicester. Revived it last year after going for lunch with an ex-flatmate who brought a paperbag full of bank letters. They were all bank statements and the the balance was £0.04. I opened a fee and gave up. Must have cost them a fortune to keep sending them. Hadn't even realised they're now Santander, it's been 12 years since I last used it.

Roselilly36 · 20/08/2021 17:36

Aww that’s a nice unexpected bonus OP, enjoy
