I'm off to town today to check a dormant account.

I've had a letter from Santander to say I have q dormant Instant Saver account so I am heading into town to find out how much is in there.

Anyone want to help guess?

For background, I opened the account over 15 years ago and at that time was earning about £28k.

I drove a new car and saved up enough to travel the world, but what is left in this forgotten account.

Did I stash a cheeky grand. Or £100 to open it. Or is it empty or maybe containing £4.36.

I'm quite excited.

What do you all think?

I think £70

Benjispruce5 · 20/08/2021 16:01

Kettle? It’s less than £10 isn’t it?

@GCAcademic

This is going to be another Victorian Safe thread, isn’t it?
Yes probably. There are some weird people out there.
User7458 · 20/08/2021 16:02

£170.78, if it was a large amount you would surely remember and if very low closed the account so I think you left a small amount that would have accrued a small bit of interest

Mooey89 · 20/08/2021 16:03

Got all the way to the end of the thread and still waiting! Tease!

Boredmotherofone · 20/08/2021 16:03

@GCAcademic Victorian safe?? Please spill the details! Brew

allergyupset · 20/08/2021 16:03

But it might be an artisan silver kettle from Harrods.

I just clicked 'see all' on the OP's posts and even then I rolled my eyes so hard, I think I've detached a retina.

seriously?

Sewaccidentprone · 20/08/2021 16:06

It’s probably loose leaf tea made in a silver teapot using a silver tea strainer which takes time to brew.

Dull. What did happen with the Victorian safe? Better build of tension and more detail for believability on that but I think it ended up empty?

starfishmummy · 20/08/2021 16:07

@FenceSplinters

It must have been millions and she’s gone off on a cruise 🥳

This happened me!! I lived abroad for a while and then moved home... had about 800 in the account 👍

Ironmanrocks · 20/08/2021 16:07

If she has just bought said silver tea pot, then maybe it is ££££££'s!!!

Bagamoyo1 · 20/08/2021 16:07

As I recall, someone found a locked Victorian safe in the attic in an old house they’d just bought, and basically created a long thread about trying to open it to see what was inside. Never did tell us. I assume it was a troll.

starfishmummy · 20/08/2021 16:07

Oops that mmm not mum!!
