Who would want a slice of their wedding cake anyway? Totally baffling !

Yes, and quite creepy. I mean, what for ? Like a holy relic?

BeaucoupFish · 22/08/2021 11:57

@nottodaybatman
I was wondering this also, why is she a ‘hanger on’ at Balmoral ?
Divorced couples don’t holiday together after several years in my experience
It’s all weird 🤔

TheReluctantPhoenix · 22/08/2021 12:00

@nottodaybatman,

I don’t know what you would propose the queen does about PA. Apart from (maybe) setting off some chaff, the RF has not really protected him. He has been left to protect himself.

The queen is 95 (!) this year and just lost her husband. I am sure she has passed over a lot of the strategic thinking to the younger generation and probably judges PA kindly.

Do you expect him to be turned away from one of the ‘family homes’ when he has not yet been convicted of anything or even lost the civil case?

What family would expel a child over 20 year old unproven allegations?

I just keep thinking of ‘Nick’ and his ‘credible and true’ accusations against all number of public figures, some of whom were only vindicated posthumously. (Look at old Edward Heath threads on here-pretty horrible retrospectively).

At the moment we have VG’s allegations against 4 or 5 high profile figures, all of whom deny them (yes-to quote Christine Keeler-‘they would, wouldn’t they). Everyone here is treating her allegations as ‘credible and true’ based on the fact that we know she was a victim. Victim hood does not an oracle make (IMO).

PA will probably hide. On the other hand, Dershowitz seems keener to take VG on and has sued her for defamation (and she has counter sued). To me, that will be an interesting test of her credibility.

It's very weird. They divorced 25 years ago.

I know they have the children and GC, but surely after all this time they would be leading totally seperate lives and just meeting up at Christenings etc.

I've never understood this SF line of being the happiest divorced couple ever. Why did she divorce then if they are so harmonious together.
And yes, the palace cuts her a lot of leeway. Just bizarre. What is she doing up at Balmoral? It was different when their children were little but now???

The Yorks live together so it’s not particularly strange that they holiday together. The thing that’s weird for me is why they ever divorced in the first place. They live together, they successfully co parented their girls, essentially they’re still married in all but name.

There’s clearly some kind of campaign involving the MoD and heads of the armed services, to exert pressure on the Queen to remove the military patronages. She’s going to have to do it sooner or later.

It’s hardly new for a doting mother to have a complete blind spot where her son(s) are concerned - I give you Violet Kray.

If I recall , PP ordered Andrew to divorce SF .

Oldbutstillgotit · 22/08/2021 12:06

SF never wanted to divorce

Oldbutstillgotit · 22/08/2021 12:07

By Royal standards she received a very poor settlement.

nottodaybatman · 22/08/2021 12:10

@Blossomtoes
Nail on head re fergie

I cannot get over the MoD taking on the RF so publicly.

KillingMeDeftly · 22/08/2021 12:13

I've read that the issue was not that she'd had an affair but that she'd been caught having the affair and it was splashed all over the press. Which seems to indicate that they all knew about it but weren't bothered until it became public knowledge. If indeed that is what happened!
SpindleWhorl · 22/08/2021 12:16

Why did PP order the PA/SF divorce? Was it because her 'louche' behaviour got into the press, but hardly any of PA's did?

And I wonder who orchestrated that ...

KillingMeDeftly · 22/08/2021 12:18

Apparently they were all at Balmoral when the photos of her with her lover (can't remember if this was the millionaire or the toe sucker) hit the press. One hell of a chilly breakfast table, I'm sure!

nottodaybatman · 22/08/2021 12:21

@TheReluctantPhoenix
As I have said before the Q went beyond a mum believing her son and trying to keep the story quiet. She paid his legal fees, allowed him into balmoral and then released the Rota to attack virginia from 2020. This is a 180 on the previous press protocol for Andrew.

This was aggressive, coordinated and tone deaf and started before PP death. There were no leaks from the palace sources and apparently the MoD was told to shut up and deal with PA. All this from a dotting elderly mother fond of her son - come off it

BeaucoupFish · 22/08/2021 12:25

@Blossometoes
didn’t know that !

BeaucoupFish · 22/08/2021 12:30

Does anyone remember Fergusons PA who stalked and killed her boyfriend
Can’t remember that being big news at the time

Roussette · 22/08/2021 12:37

Oh my goodness, yes I remember that story, it actually was quite big at the time I thought.

Vile woman who was very close with SF, her dresser and PA, spent far too short a time in prison. And still harrassing boyfriends.

SF and PA's judgement really is appalling.

BeaucoupFish · 22/08/2021 12:43

@Roussette
I know,! its really hard to comprehend 🤔🤔

Just read up on her. Jane Andrews, she was SF’s ‘dresser’ but was sacked for cost savings was only given a 12 year sentence as well, for a brutal murder
then as you said was convicted for stalking a married man, released and worked on a market stall selling royal memorabilia (wonder if cake was part of her inventory ?)
Last seen stacking shelves in Morrison’s in Lincolnshire somewhere

It was a huge story ! I also seem to remember a TV programme about it ?

BeaucoupFish · 22/08/2021 12:55

Its just me - I don’t remember the news about it at the time but I did see the ITV documentary -‘Fergies Killer Dresser’ (salacious title 😂)
have just searched YouTube there are a few documentaries on there Including ‘snapped-women who kill’
(Apologies for veering topic)

KillingMeDeftly · 22/08/2021 12:58

That definitely rings a bell and yes, I'm pretty sure there was a tv dramatisation about it, something like The Duchess, The Dresser and The... although I may have just made that title up!

Fergie was stung by the fake sheikh too, wasn't she, promising cash for access? I'm pretty sure that what she told the FS about what it would cost for him to meet Andrew was true, but the royals left her to fend for herself over that.

She's an odd one - she does things like that but then there seems to be a kind side to her, like when she met a couple on a flight whose daughter had died after an allergic reaction to a Pret sandwich and then helped them set up a small charity that campaigns for accurate food labelling.

KillingMeDeftly · 22/08/2021 12:58

@BeaucoupFish Ok then I definitely made that title up!!!

BeaucoupFish · 22/08/2021 13:02

This is hilarious 😂

nottodaybatman · 22/08/2021 13:15

@KillingMeDeftly
I thought Sophie was the one stung by the fake sheikh, or maybe this was yet another fake sheikh.

KillingMeDeftly · 22/08/2021 13:19

@nottodaybatman Sophie was but I think Fergie was too in more recently years. Or it may just have been another undercover reporter, not the FS.

Roussette · 22/08/2021 13:25

Sophie and SF yes.

Sarah's was extremely crass (well... they both were..) When it was all exposed, she tried to sue the fake sheikh for £40M and ran up a bill of half a million doing so. Then had to drop the case.
