What is this cut out bit in this kitchen for?

I've been browsing a catalogue today and found this picture of this kitchen. What's the cut out bit in the island for do you think?

Trays?
Box of veg?
Planters?
Small wine fridge?
Go have look otherwise you’ll ever know,

Maybe it's a space for a butchers block? It could be nicely fitted with knife storage...

David Salisbury didn't fit the kitchen. They build conservatories and orangeries

Pizza oven or indoor bbq?

It looks ugly as it stands with no obvious use but I'd put big cook books there, my cat would probably have sat there if there had been a cushion and maybe a huge potted plant or a little tree at xmas. Intriguing as it is I wouldn't want it.

Aquarium or vivarium, maybe? They've removed it not to ick people in the photos because its in the kitchen.

It could be a cat feeding station. Perhaps to make it easier for someone with limited mobility unable to pick bowls up from the floor?

Either way, I wonder if the island was built like that, which seems strange, or was it modified to accommodate a change in needs?

For a huge bin . Sweep all the crap off the work top and then throw a tea towel over the top. Very chic?!

It's a space for aquarium, to keep lobster and crab live until shortly before cooking.

Small wine fridge is a sensible possibility actually.

Got to be for sonething plugged in and accessible from the top - so maybe an open drinks fridge type thing? Or something that comes with its own integrated lid.

The slot at the back must go to a plug...

It's a show plinth for stunt pineapples. Obviously.

It's for a microwave oven. You're free to select whatever brand of microwave you want and that's the spot for it in that kitchen.
