Do you think we’ve had a good summer weather wise?

I’m in Sheffield I keep reading about what a crap summer it’s been. But it’s been pretty sunny most of the time round me.

Sunny yesterday and coming out today. But we’ve had several weeks of really hot sunny weather and lots of sunny days. This is the sunniest summer l can remember since 2003.

It's hilarious, one person's idea of a heatwave is someone else's chilly! It's been a very grey, cloudy, cool summer apart from a bit of warmth in July. SE here

SoupDragon · 17/08/2021 12:45

SE and no. I missed the short heatwave as I was away too.

ApplyWithin · 17/08/2021 12:46

No way. South east here and we had two good blasts of hot weather, each lasting for less than a week. Other than that it’s been cloudy, mid-high teens temps, with the sun popping out occasionally. And at least one week where it rained a LOT.

I’m not impressed!

NautaOcts · 17/08/2021 12:46

SE - feels like has been pretty grey here

lannistunut · 17/08/2021 12:46

Mixed and with some shocking rain, but we are going to have a lot more rain over summers going forwards, more volatility generally.

RaininSummer · 17/08/2021 12:47

Been fairly rubbish in the southwest.

happytoday73 · 17/08/2021 12:50

To me it feels quite typical year... Decent dry weather may/June and start of July... till the kids break up then back to colder, wetter and more unpredictable.

If the heat wave we kept being promised for around now had arrived it would have been a good year in my opinion overall

wendz86 · 17/08/2021 12:55

I'm just north of london and hasn't been a good summer. Not sat outside many days or worn my summer dresses/clothes that much.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 17/08/2021 12:59

Yes, where is that heatwave?🙄

haggisaggis · 17/08/2021 13:03

I'm north east Scotland and think it has been pretty good. There was a spell for over 2 weeks where I did not need to bring the outside cushions in at night (almost unheard of!) Mind you, my concept of "pretty good" is dry and over 17 deg c ... We did get around 2 weeks when it was above 20 - and even got to 26 on one day!

Creuset · 17/08/2021 13:06

No, it has been far too hot for a number of weeks so I don’t think it has been a ‘good’ summer!

Chicchicchicchiclana · 17/08/2021 13:07

I'm in London. I think it has been average or slightly below average. A slow start, wet spring, brief heatwave, then mainly changeable weather with a lot of rain - feeling much cooler in August.

Like 99% of UK summers.

mrsm43s · 17/08/2021 13:12

I'm in the SE. It's been rubbish. One week of decent summer weather in July, but the rest of the time its been chilly, grey and raining. One of the worst summers I can remember for a long time!

user1494055864 · 17/08/2021 13:19

In the East, currently sitting in cosy socks with the heating on. It's been raining pretty much every day, and if the sun chooses to come out its usually really late afternoon!
I don't feel we've had a proper summer, I haven't worn a single pair of shorts or used sun cream!!

Naaaaah · 17/08/2021 13:19

It's been awful. The only sun we've had has been stinking hot and unbearable. The rest has been a wash out.

Bonmonkhouse · 17/08/2021 13:22

Not brilliant on the South Coast the odd nice day here and there but my family in Manchester say it's been a good summer!

BrilloPaddy · 17/08/2021 13:25

South West here. Not been great this summer, and def has that autumnal morning/evening chill in the air now.

I took the dogs for a walk along the river late afternoon on my way home, and was absolutely frozen in a t shirt. I've got a long sleeved jumper on today as a result.

transformandriseup · 17/08/2021 13:26

We have had a few good weeks in Cornwall but on the whole it has been a bit dull and wet. We didn't even get a good Easter this year which is unusual.

idontlikealdi · 17/08/2021 13:29

Kent. It's been shit apart from the heatwave at hte beginning. We have just had two weeks on the south coast and managed two days on the beach.

Galassia · 17/08/2021 13:30

I’m out every day hiking and it’s been great here in the part of Wales I have moved to.

CloudPop · 17/08/2021 13:30

@Pokhora

I am in the South East and it does not feel we have had any summer bar a heatwave of around 4 days.
Snap. Today is dark, overcast and cold
Gufo · 17/08/2021 13:32

crap here, feels like we just went April-October with nothing in the middle, apart from a 4 day heatwave.

CarlaH · 17/08/2021 13:32

SE here and the heating has just come on.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 17/08/2021 13:32

Crap compared to last year. But I think last year was brilliant which leads to higher expectations.

DinosApple · 17/08/2021 13:35

No it has been much cooler, cloudier and wetter than normal - Suffolk here.
It has been born out in the harvest though, we're not imagining it.

First crops here were late ripening, by around 3 weeks. Now the weather is too showery . Farmers don't want to harvest when it's wet if possible.

Our friends in York and Lincolnshire say it's been ok though.
