If you ordered a whole trout from a supermarket online delivery what would you expect to get?

A) a whole trout - not gutted, not scaled. Entirely untouched
B) a whole trout - gutted and scaled
C) a whole trout - gutted, scaled and pin boned

Follow up question, if you got A, would you know you needed to do B/C before cooking?

At the fishmonger's counter, I would ask them to descale a bass because cleaning the kitchen after you've done it at home is a cleaning up epic. It's easy to do, but very messy.

After reading this I'm glad the nearest I get to it is fish fingers

I'd hope for gutted but have always presumed not, so I request it in the comments but about substitutions and they have always done it for me. The weight is based on the original weight but then gutting and scaling was free.
I've never asked for boning as it doesn't bother me to eat round then.
To be fair OP, my DH would never attempt cooking a trout so it has never been an issue for us either way! 😀

A fun loving, happy, live trout!

roarfeckingroarr · 13/08/2021 09:39

Gutted, not boned or scaled

THEDEACON · 13/08/2021 12:51

A and yes

WithLoveFromMyselfToYourself · 13/08/2021 12:54

B,
If o got A I’d know I needed to gut and prepare it.

Auntienumber8 · 13/08/2021 14:39

A and I can gut fish. I then cook with the head on stuffed with ginger and don’t descale. I have picked out what live fish or seafood I am going to eat in restaurants or shops to take home and cook.

@MyrtlethePurpleTurtle

What were the deleted posts on a fish thread?
That's nothing, I've been on a thread about descaling kettles that went poof after about 12 posts. That was bizarre!

Please dont mention a toilet brush. Incendiary.
