If you ordered a whole trout from a supermarket online delivery what would you expect to get?

A) a whole trout - not gutted, not scaled. Entirely untouched
B) a whole trout - gutted and scaled
C) a whole trout - gutted, scaled and pin boned

Follow up question, if you got A, would you know you needed to do B/C before cooking?

B and yes .

ButterflyAway · 11/08/2021 19:08

There’s usually information on whether they’re gutted and deboned or not, but if I’m buying a whole trout I’d expect it to be a whole trout (so A). I know how to do B but cannot do C

MinesAPintOfTea · 11/08/2021 19:08

Something in the middle of A/B

Gutted, but with scales and bones. Can be cooked like that but skill needed in eating.

It depends what the item description said when I ordered it...

ButterflyAway · 11/08/2021 19:09

Just to add though, to me a whole trout would be including the head and tail.

Fiddliestofsticks · 11/08/2021 19:10

I would expect gutted but not scaled. And then I'd do that myself.

SMabbutt · 11/08/2021 19:10

A or b. Gutted but not necessarily scaled and yes because my dad used to go fishing.

30degreesandmeltinghere · 11/08/2021 19:10

Did yours come tinned op???

SameToo · 11/08/2021 19:10

A. A whole trout, head, tail, guts and all.

Ghosttile · 11/08/2021 19:10

B and yes.

Some really random substitution to laugh about with the driver.

SnowWouldHelp · 11/08/2021 19:12

B from a supermarket if pre-packed, A if they have a fishmonger in store.
Follow up yes.

PeonyTime · 11/08/2021 19:13

Gutted.
And yes (except I wouldnt scale it, as I dont eat fish skin!).

girlmom21 · 11/08/2021 19:13

Then A

FatCatThinCat · 11/08/2021 19:13

The only time I've ever bought whole trout was at school during a cookery lesson field trip to Tesco. The only thing it didn't have was scales.

deliawhsmith · 11/08/2021 19:13

B but gutted not scaled, wouldn't be bothered by A though.

ellesbellesxxx · 11/08/2021 19:13

A but wouldn’t have a clue how to do B or C

Lightningrain · 11/08/2021 19:13

I’d expect gutted and scaled.

SoddingWeddings · 11/08/2021 19:15

I'd expect gutted but not scaled.

Tiggles · 11/08/2021 19:23

I'd expect A and be prepared to gut it
But would be pleasantly surprised if it came gutted and saved me the job

PersianStar · 11/08/2021 19:23

I would expect gutted but not scaled. If I got A I wouldn’t really be surprised and just take it to ask for gutting next time.

gogohm · 11/08/2021 19:23

Gutted but not scaled

Mistymountain · 11/08/2021 19:25

I would just expect it to be gutted, so between A&B

Enko · 11/08/2021 19:25

A

Follow up yes and I know how to do so too. (Grew up near the sea)

Would not be surprised if gutted not scaled though.
