I'll start with skinny co pornstar martini mix. Tasted incredibly sweet and synthetic. It stated use 1 part vodka to 3 parts mix. I tried that too sweet added more vodka so 50/50 just about drinkable. I drank another one with the reverse ratios, almost OK but I was so drunk I fell over and knocked the TV over.

The other downside was that it stank so much so that my empty glass had made the whole room stink.

My ex back home that one time. Didn't leave for far too long.

Alcemeg · 11/08/2021 23:36

A job lot of 31 cheap and nasty tops on eBay, which seemed a real bargain when pissed. Not one of them was wearable.

A collection of fabrics that I bought with the aim of creating an entire Strictly Come Dancing wardrobe extravaganza in the course of a weekend. Unfortunately lack the necessary skills and design flair.

A ruin in Portugal.

Sillysuzie · 11/08/2021 23:37

Baby clothes. They lived in vests and sleepsuits. Was all they needed.

BSideBaby · 11/08/2021 23:38

A Peugeot then a Citroen to replace the broken Peugeot. Citroen also broke. Never again.

MouseholeCat · 11/08/2021 23:38

It's technically a love-hate purchase, but it wasn't very sensible. We have a beautiful and rather expensive bar-height dining table which is like a cross section of a tree trunk. We got 4 stools from Ikea to go with. We chose velvet (or I guess velour) covers for the stools.

I love how it looks but the table is totally really impractical, especially now we're expecting a child. Hard to eat off of, too high for a young child, DH is constantly worried it'll get damaged, and it's a total death trap if it ever tips over. It was hard to find stools that were the right height too as it's so high.

Then there's the stools! Ikea stopped making them, which is okay apart from the fact we can't replace the cushion covers. We have cats so they are constantly covered in hair and the material is wearing thin in a few places, I guess from cleaning off the hair.

La Roche Posay for my teenage DD, her face is now covered in open bleeding wounds and their customer care team have been useless thus far.
I really hope it works out, that's terrible Roche posay has saved my skin, so sorry it didn't help your daughter

Creed cologne (£250) for my husband's birthday last year. He got covid and lost his sense of smell before he even finished his previous bottle.

Says it now smells like piss.

BeReet · 11/08/2021 23:41

The two pairs of shoes I bought from a FB ad I know, I know ordered a 3.5UK and was sent an Asian38 which is allegedly the same - they are AT LEAST a uk5 if not more and the company refuses to refund or replace. £50 down the toilet, I'm going to have to try and sell them on. They would have been SO comfy as well. Gutted! I will never buy off a fb ad ever again, there's just no comeback

EmmaC78 · 11/08/2021 23:42

I hate my Shark Hoover too, absolute waste of money.

Ladyrattles · 11/08/2021 23:44

Deep fat fryers. So much bother to clean and left all the cupboard doors, utensils and items on top of the kitchen units covered in a grease film. Gorgeous chips but just not worth it. Replaced them with an air fryer which we love.

FenceSplinters · 11/08/2021 23:45

Reed diffusers. They never smell.

Dyson vacuum cleaner. Clogs every time.

A car from Trust Ford. Don’t trust them.

@Teddicus

A root canal treatment done privately a few weeks ago. The first stage resulted in a horrific abscess that made my face swell up to twice its normal size and gave me three days (and nights) of unbearable pain. It all seemed to have settled after stage two, but my bloomin' tooth has only started throbbing again tonight and I can't bear it. £700 NOT well spent. I'm ready to rip the thing out.
Teddicus, responding to you as someone who's had root canal treatment > This doesn't sound right to me. Often a root canal is done because of an abscess - it shouldn't cause one. Also, after the root canal the nerves for that tooth are no longer operative so there should certainly be no toothache, other than the few days of tenderness from your poor gums being yanked about. Is there any chance of you getting a dentist from a different practice to check this out?

I really sympathise with you, because toothache is awful.

Houseofvelour · 11/08/2021 23:55

Like 75% of my kids' toys.
I get excited buying lovely things for them and they play with them once and never touch them again 🙈
I honestly wonder if they'd notice if I donated half of their toys

The bouncy castle was the best buy ever though 😁

UniversalAunt · 11/08/2021 23:55

Emma mattress.
We’re it not for the 200 day quibble free return policy, I would be righteously furious. Lumpy bumpy in no time. Ugh.
Prolly Ok as a guest bed but not suitable for a pair of stiff old congers like us....

Ninja Foodi - brilliant, use it every day on some function or other.

TY for tip offs about Shark cordless ‘wand’. sorely tempted to get one as it got the better ‘allergy’ comments in Which reviews.Nowt but a poncy wand then?

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 11/08/2021 23:56

From memory Dyson Contraratotor 2 drum contra rotating washing machine. Very innovative and pushing boundaries for washing machine innovation and technology with brilliant performance when working. It was over engineered and prone to malfunctioning and not reliable as apparently it was developed and manufactured at an economic lost hence the reliability issues. Replaced with reliable no nonsense high performance Miele.

Currently Barisieur coffee brewing alarm clock - wow factor innovative product but too much hassle to use daily. Resolved by reverting back to trusty classic La Pavoni professional Lusso coffee machine.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 11/08/2021 23:58

Play station. The original one. Led my sons into lives fucking wasted on bloody gaming.

Purplewithred · 11/08/2021 23:59

@Alcemeg

You cannot possibly regret buying a ruin in Portugal. Surely it will inspire you to write a bestselling novel/develop a boutique hotel and wedding venue with a spinoff tv show, or something?

stayathomer · 12/08/2021 00:00

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow
Same but Xbox. God knows what they could have achieved without it and youtube!!

hedgiehedgehog · 12/08/2021 00:03

@HaveringWavering

robot cleaner (couldn't cope with pet hair or steps)

@hedgiehedgehog, you didn’t seriously expect a robot cleaner to be able to go up and down steps? Grin

No I didn't Grin, but I thought it would stop before the drop. I spent more time putting barricades to stop it falling down steps or getting stuck under things than it would have taken me to get Henry on the job.

Like a 1970s Dalek Grin
HaveringWavering · 12/08/2021 00:06

Ah OK. Mine is a cheap and cheerful Eufy and it does indeed stop at the top of a step. In fact sometimes I put it up on the kitchen island and watch as it goes back and forth to the edges but never falls off. Hours of fun. You were definitely sold a dud there!

FangsForTheMemory · 12/08/2021 00:09

I adore my Kenwood bread maker. It’s about ten years old now and I love it.

The Lakeland heated dryer though . . . Dries the bit in the middle, not the edges. I got a dehumidifier for the conservatory because the Lakeland dryer is in there and guess what? The dehumidifier dries the washing better on its own.

SecondCityShark · 12/08/2021 00:16

A Hisense dishwasher. Every came out filthy from the first wash. Really disappointed.

FrenchCovidInfo · 12/08/2021 00:26

The shudderingly stupid amount of money I spent importing a pasta maker from Italy. It works brilliantly, but a big rolling pin is much, much better.

And every single steam mop and handheld vacuum I've ever bought.

eekbumbler · 12/08/2021 00:45

@Crazycat53

A brand new Citroen c3, bought with inheritance money from my aunt. Had it exactly a week. 139 miles on the clock. I was rear ended & the car written off.
Were you not insured?
