I would interpret that as him asking you which fish and chip shop he should go to Silkie...

Silkiescatz · 01/09/2021 16:54

I had a reply from him and that is what he is asking though no idea why he thinks I am an expert on Devon fish and chip shops. Grin

Gingerwarthog · 01/09/2021 16:55

Tell him the one that looks busiest/ has longest queue....

Gingerwarthog · 01/09/2021 16:58

In other news - allotment paths have been strimmed, floors have been cleaned and I am contemplating a swim.

Silkiescatz · 01/09/2021 17:04

I have gone with the one with better Tripadviser reviews though either is fine with me but if I dont say one dh will return with nothing saying he did not know which to go to, ds is the same, ask him what he wants to eat and he will reply how is he supposed to know. Confused

I may also go swimming later.

HildaTablet · 01/09/2021 17:11

Have been away for a while and catching up. So sorry to hear your news Sunbird Flowers

Champagneforeveryone · 01/09/2021 17:35

Yes, we live in a village but the South West is suffering from a severe lack of properties.

My mortgage broker is calling me this evening

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/09/2021 18:01

People of the thread calm me down!

DH rarely buys clothes and the clothes he owns he wears out.
He usually goes on his own, but this time - because of stress and eye sight problems - I went with him to carry, fetch and read labels.
He - bought with no input from me - 3 (three) pairs of trousers none of which were on sale.
i am shocked.

Jconnais1chansonquivavsenerver · 01/09/2021 18:05

Good shock or bad shock, @Prokupatuscrakedatus?

mathanxiety · 01/09/2021 18:19

Champagne you have my sympathies. I recently financed a second hand car. It took many hours and generated much angst.

Ok. Brace ourselves. I have a hi viz sighting to report. One man with a road marking tool, one woman brandishing a Stop/Slow sign to keep the light traffic from running her colleague over. She was dressed head to toe in neon green. The man was wearing a neon waistcoat. Both were wearing neon hard hats.
There.

The street they were working on is now pretty much a slalom course, with points deducted for missing a barrel, hitting a barrel, side swiping an orange Slow Road Work sign, driving south in the northbound lane and vice versa, and wheel rims punished for insufficient attention to the exposed manhole pipes. Some drivers seem to think there is a time penalty as well.

I figured out the solution to a vexing Pinterest problem I've been putting up with for a few months. It turned out that it was my ad blocker which was causing my home feed to look like Swiss cheese.

Silkiescatz · 01/09/2021 18:26

Prok I am also Shock I dont think DH has ever bought clothes without at least 3 days deliberation and in the sale and then getting ones identical to the last ones. Same with hotels, if he says he wants to be involved, he spends 3 days studying them all before deciding to go to the one we went to last time. Though once he shocked me by choosing a different one but then he did not like it and banned himself from ever choosing hotels again.

Gingerwarthog · 01/09/2021 18:29

Is there a reason for this Prok?
Interview? Shop is closing down so products are cheaper? Being filmed?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/09/2021 18:33

@Jconnais1chansonquivavsenerver Well,
in a good way because he now has trousers without holes in highly visible areas, in different colours suitable for different occasions.

On the other hand, like Silkie's DH he has never in all our 35 years together bought sth. not on sale and on short notice. Hence the shock.

Squirrel26 · 01/09/2021 19:22

I once took a call from a mortgage advisor from the Post Office while I was running a trail race. I couldn't think of a non-awkward way to say 'can you bugger off? I'm busy'. I didn't even want to talk to him as I already had a mortgage advisor and she had already found me a mortgage, but I couldn't think of a polite way to say that either.

I am definitely not grown up enough to be responsible for a mortgage...

Silkiescatz · 01/09/2021 20:43

Now had the fish and chips which dh reheated as he bought them a few hours ago but still nice. Then tea and biscuits.

HelenaJustina · 01/09/2021 20:47

I had leftover bean salad and toasted sourdough for dinner. I’m now bracing myself to set up my new iPhone. Wish me luck!

OhWhyNot · 01/09/2021 21:12

I bought myself a new duvet Grin

I got my winter duvet out and felt it was time for a new one

So excited to try it out (it’s 10.5 tog so bit too warm still) won’t be long Smile

Silkiescatz · 01/09/2021 21:46

I remember a couple of months ago mentioning to my doctor i was having night sweats for first time and i maybe peri menopausal. Then he said i could just be too hot and I thought Hmm it is 27C and I have a 15 tog duvet and fleece bedding.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/09/2021 21:50

OhWhy Enjoy!

I refuse to put the fluffy covers (Bieber) on before November.

Gingerwarthog · 01/09/2021 22:12

My Winter duvet is beckoning too. Currently rolled up on top of the wardrobe.
Makes the Summer one seem flimsy.

HelenaJustina · 01/09/2021 22:27

I have lovely brushed cotton winter bedding, it’s due to warm up again at the weekend though so I’m holding off for now. Oh the jeopardy.

Posting this on my new phone, transfer successful. I also then successfully transferred DC1’s phone to my old one, they had a refurbished iPhone 6 which was really on its way out, they now have my old 8 and are reasonably pleased.

Champagneforeveryone · 02/09/2021 00:01

helena your last post was exceptionally bright and shiny, I can only say the transfer must have been successful Wink

My National Trust sticker is now hanging on to my screen by the skin of its teeth for anyone worrying about my precarious situation.

DoctorTwo · 02/09/2021 13:36

Just about to nip out to have a look at a car, looks ok, reasonable price but the worry is the advert says it's classed as CatD for insurance purposes. I need to get to the bottom of this, hopefully before I stand in front of the car.

Jconnais1chansonquivavsenerver · 02/09/2021 15:38

I am having a not very calm day as we are having people over for supper tonight and I have messed up everything that I have made so far (starter and dessert). Good thing the husbad's on the barbecue, at least the protein will be done all right. I can see myself destroying the veggies as well, at the rate I'm going. I'm very bad at retirement, so relaxed I've fallen well off my perch! I do miss proper fresh double cream, though! Never mind, we've got enough bubbles here to sink several boats so hopefully that will alleviate things.

IWanderedLonely · 02/09/2021 16:31

Silkie are those photos Lynmouth/Lynton?
We went there last year. The flood thing was very sad.
