Bloody heatwave on its way again.

I heard a couple of days ago that we are going to be 'enjoying' sizzling temperatures of 30 degrees, for the second half of August. Enjoying FFS. I'm absolutely dreading it. When will these people get it into their heads that not everybody loves very hot weather?! I'm only just recovering from the last heatwave in July! I know I'm going to get called a killjoy, but seriously,I know there is an awful lot of people out there who agree with me. How do all you hot weather haters cope with 30 degrees plus heat?
(I'm in West London btw,not sure how the rest of the country is going to be afflicted affected).

Temperatures should trend warmer than normal into late August, with some warm days possible if high pressure moves overhead for too long. If the high does linger overhead, a heatwave may develop, but confidence is low on this

Just read this for late August outlook on the BBC weather website.

Air conditioning is your friend. I love outdoor-swimming weather.

@FedNlanders

I'm hoping it is wrong BUT the nights are closing in. Its now dark by 8.30. The autumn is well on the way heatwave or not!
Autumn is nowhere near! It isn't dark by 830- in Central Scotland it's almost 10pm and in the North it's nearer 11pm. We're not all in the bloody SE!

It would be completely right that the heat wave is then- we all go back to school/ work on the 16th August. Typical 🙄

Source?

Sweettea1 · 03/08/2021 00:58

Woop woop can't wait for the sun to come back! Dc will beable to have plenty of fun outside instead of being stuck indoors like they are all winter.

xxlostxx · 03/08/2021 01:47

Looking forward to it Smile

DrCoconut · 03/08/2021 02:01

When? Please let it be 16th as we're camping again then and our trip last week was ruined by all the rain. Other than a few days heatwave a few weeks ago the weather has been awful. Last night was cold enough to put the heating on which is ridiculous for August so I think a couple of weeks warm and dry is not out of order at this point. I'm not asking for 30+ here, just out of the teens would do.

RampantIvy · 03/08/2021 06:37

Judging by the number of heat haters who post on MN I am guessing that a significant proportion of them live in the South or South East, and probably in London or other large cities.

Weather reports always seem to be London centric.

newnortherner111 · 03/08/2021 07:07

I agree there should never be an assumption that any particular type of weather is loved or hated by all (weather presenters please note), but what is expected is no surprise. Once Notting Hill Carnival was cancelled you knew to expect a warmer than average late August.

lollipoprainbow · 03/08/2021 07:11

I think I have seasonal affective disorder when it's Summer, I think it's a thing ! I feel really depressed, I think it's the expectation that you should be out and about having a great time, I don't have a garden so that doesn't help. I'm so much happier in September/October.

Coffeeonmytoffee · 03/08/2021 07:31

Hate the heat!
But I can cope.
Get a muslin and run it under a cold tap. Then after getting rid of the excess water just put it around your neck.
You look like a muppet but it’s amazing

Coogee · 03/08/2021 08:00

I’m looking forward to it. If it happens.

I’ll believe it when I feel it.

Spudlet · 03/08/2021 08:04

I’m marathon training. Please, please, no heatwave…. I started one of my long runs well before 7am during the last hot spell and I was still struggling with the temperature, even with electrolytes in my water bottle. Argh.

Holothane · 03/08/2021 08:07

We are Midlands based and it was hell last time, since menopause I suffer dreadful so does dh.

RampantIvy · 03/08/2021 08:15

I notice that all the news items about the forthcoming heatwave are from unreliable sources.

This is from the met office:

confidence is lower for longer term forecasts, so don’t bank on a guaranteed heatwave just yet

U2HasTheEdge · 03/08/2021 08:20

I am on leave for two weeks from the 13th.

If I can have two weeks of hot weather that would make me very happy. I would settle for a week, or maybe even a couple of days. It has been a crap summer and the thought of spending my leave in the sun is very nice.

U2HasTheEdge · 03/08/2021 08:20

BTW I don't actually think it will happen though.

LST · 03/08/2021 08:24

I'm hoping this is true. As although it's a tad too warm for me. If prefer it to rain when we're on holiday camping and then going to a festival

dementedma · 03/08/2021 08:26

I love autumn, but not yet! More sunshine and warmth welcomed here.

Boarderingmadness · 03/08/2021 08:27

Get used to far higher temps OP, just look across the world! the European highest temp is soon to be over 48'C

The world is changing and not for the better.

Antsinyourpanta · 03/08/2021 08:31

I live about 25 miles outside London and the 10 day weather forcast as of yesterday was predicting max temperatures of 23 or 24 (and not every day) which is pleasant but not what I'd consider a heatwave. The temperature in London is usually a degree or 2 warmer.

Treezan82 · 03/08/2021 08:31

I've heard about this heatwave rumour but BBC Weather where I am (near OP) is looking a very reasonable 22/23 up until the 16th...

Same here, 22/23 would be lovely.
