Liz Jones' ex husband, Nirwal Dhaliwal, writes excoriating account of marriage to Liz Jones

Liz Jones's ex wrote a pulverising article about their marriage yesterday.

I couldn't blame him really, as she writes about him nearly every week in really dismissive terms, and there are always 2 sides to a story.
She always describes lavishing him with expensive gifts and how rotten, lazy and ungrateful he was, but he actually walked away with no money at all - to his credit as at that time she was very well paid.

He writes: My ex is the newspaper columnist Liz Jones who, during our time together, turned her one-sided take on our relationship into a lucrative industry, churning out thousands of articles. I still appear in her work now, despite not speaking to her in 12 years.<br /> I came to live in a gilded Islington cage, lavished with unrequested gifts, and holidays as Liz spent some of the fortune she made from writing about me – mostly derisively – no doubt in the hope that I wouldn’t leave.
Our marriage was doomed from our wedding day: an occasion I felt swindled into, having never proposed. She arranged it without my knowledge; I found out when I discovered a receipt for the country estate. Confronted with it, she declared she’d already told the world in her column – which I no longer read – and would look a fool. She then broke down in tears, robbing me of my anger as I comforted her and agreed.
Having been depicted as little more than a gigolo, I forwent a small fortune that would have given me stability, and have lived a financially precarious life since. Naively, I had hoped she would stop pouring scorn on me in print, but she has continued to do so, banking cheque after cheque in the process.

Her writing, of course, never gave any sense of my vulnerability. The working-class product of an immigrant home wracked by alcoholism, violence and insolvency, I was, in my 20s, always going to fall under the spell of a wealthy older woman who promised me a lifestyle and security that I’d never imagined for myself'.

Just goes to show that there are always 2 sides to every story, and while Jones always portrays herself as a victim, the truth is more nuanced.

@frumpety

I used to read her column and want to rescue her from herself. I couldn't because I have shit candles and my bedding is mainly polycotton.

😂
I seem to remember reading that when she ended up broke after moving to the country, she said her ‘essentials’ when trying to economise, , included candles at £50 a pop.

Another memorable snippet, many years ago, was when she said she had to wipe all her jars and bottles of ‘unguents’ every night, with a flannel soaked in hot boiled water and wrung out.

Stopped taking the Mail on Sunday years ago, but her columns were always good for an incredulous laugh. I did wonder how much was true, though - her column depended on such raving-nutter type revelations.

Good god, is she still going? I used to read her column years ago - it was compulsive. She was totally screwed up.

If that's true she is seriously toxic!!

She's such a strange woman, so sorry for herself and so up herself all at the same time.

I used to quite enjoy her column, until the 'rock star'. Just no!

@DinosaurDiana

I always wondered how she managed to bag Jim Kerr

I was just about to ask if this was ever found out to be the truth or not. Iirc she never named him, people put 2+2 together and said it was him….I was never sure if it was total bollocks. Also rumours it may have been one of The Who?

I think she’s unhinged. I remember when she moved to exmoor and upset all the neighbours. Wonder how she’s getting on in Yorkshire.

They should pair her up with the Yorkshire Shepherdess and do a reality show.

It was him. He owns a hotel in Italy.

Liz would have been right at home in California where many spend their whole life naval gazing and are relentless in analysing themselves and fretting over every decision and aspect of their lives instead of just living their life!

It’s a miserable existence being so self consumed!

He’s just as bad as her. “Unrequested gifts”? Bullied into a marriage? “Kept in a gilded cage”?! Oh diddums. He was a grown man who could have walked away at any time. He knew she was writing about him and chose to stay? He sounds as pathetic and self-absorbed as she clearly is.

But was it all fantasy? She needed something to write about and dropped enough hints to make it sound like Kerr but never said it was. I seem to remember at the time on here she wrote about something to do with the rock star, like a weekend away or something and someone said it couldn’t be Kerr because he was touring Australia or something.

Plus some stuff she’d written about the band’s history didn’t add up to Jim Kerr but guess they could have been red herrings?

Just checked Wiki and apparently in an interview she admitted it wasn’t Kerr. I reckon there was no rock star. She’s also been declared bankrupt which I didn’t know.

She's batshit and don't believe for a SECOND that she loves animals.

Do a search on here, the story of Nellie the horse she pretty much killed and lied about has been discussed on here in the past.

I just googled to find out about Liz Jones and Jim Kerr and fell down a rabbit hole. Apparently on more than one occasion she took used condoms and tried to impregnate herself. (She admitted this herself in a DM interview).

I also saw that when she met her husband he was 26 and she was 37. I'd hardly call 37 middle aged. The tone of his article seemed to suggest that she was a predatory middle aged woman and he was in his early twenties.

Sounds like they deserved each other.

She is an appalling human being. See her peice on the murdered Joanna Yeates, written just a couple of weeks after her body was found, which she managed to make All About Liz

She's admitted that her Fantasy Rock Star is not JK, who apparently got his lawyers to send a cease and desist letter.

Although she is incredibly annoying I mostly feel pity for her:

I had a double mastectomy aged 29 because I wanted to be as flat-chested as model Yasmin Le Bon. Imagine my self-loathing when I read Angelina Jolie had done the same thing because she wanted to stay alive for her children.

They’ve both traded on their relationship and made money from it. They deserved one another.

I feel quite sorry for her, she's obviously a very unhappy woman and seems to be quite damaged.

I don't feel at all sorry for him, I remember reading his first novel and then some interviews with him and thinking he was a complete wanker - some of the older articles posted above seem to bear this out!
