Poor chap he's been tricked into sharing an evening of drinking & dancing with some lovely blonde 20 somethings. Followed by being tricked into going back to a hotel with them all. Poor chap doesn't have much luck does he?

The police have confirmed that they are satisfied that no criminal offence has taken place.

Colleen already has the first class tickets to Barbs for her, the kids and her mum and dad booked, and no doubt there is a new expensive piece of jewellery or handbag on its way.

Wayne knows he’s in the doghouse for a few weeks.

@Crockof how is that victim blaming? He's a big football star with loads of money, of course he could be targeted for a blackmail plot. Would he not have had a security guard with him to navigate these situations?

I will always support a victim. The moment we say, 'well these circumstances justify what happened to the victim' is the moment we concede that women in short skirts deserve it.

But this is not the same comparison. He wasn't securely assaulted. He is rich, famous and these women saw an opportunity to get some photos of him (fully clothed). You can't compare this to a drunk woman who is sexually assaulted. It's not the same principle at all.

What an example to his sons.

No matter how much of an arse he is, you don’t take advantage of drunk people. If they’d nicked his wallet whilst he was passed out, it wouldn’t be all that different to them demanding money after taking photos.

On the plus side, I know to avoid Chinawhite in Manchester. I wonder whether the London club owners expected their northern outpost to be full of flinty eyed ‘Snapchat models’ from Barrow in Furness looking for famous drunk men?

I would imagine she stays largely because, as someone unthread said, she's got four children. If they split Wayne would probably get a 50 / 50 residency. He's undoubtedly meet someone else who'd be around the boys and then he'd have more kids. Colleen isn't going to want that loss of control or her boys exposed to that and I can totally understand that.

I imagine Colleen was brought up to believe in the old school mantras of 'boys will be boys' and 'stand by your man'. If she just wanted money she could divorce him and get a bit fat wedge that way. She really must love him and think that he's worth the heartbreak and humiliation.

They’re 21. When DS2 was 21 he graduated as nurse and got a job in A&E. He knew that you didn’t take advantage of drunk people regardless of who they are. He knew that at 15, tbh, as did DS1.

If it was an 18yo man behaving like that around a woman no one would be making excuses for them. Their behaviour is disgusting, regardless of Wayne Rooney’s reputation.

I highly doubt Colleen lives her life strictly according to the teachings of the Catholic church. Do you seriously she Coleen was a virgin on marriage, for example?

Wayne Rooney is 35 years old. He's had 20 years experience as a top flight footballer (most of those years clubbing and shagging like a single 21yo) he's a married father of 4 and currently managing a team who are on their knees.

I don't know WTF is going on with him, this isn't the first time hes been caught in a compromising position and it won't be the last so no need for him to act so hard done to. He needs to grow up, cut out the boozing and partying and take some responsibility. It's his choice if he wants to leave a legacy or a cautionary tale.

I was raised a Catholic and educated in a convent school.

I know lots of Catholics who have divorced.

Coleen doesn't strike me as some sort of god fearing traditional type. She seems pretty hard nosed to me. You seem to be assuming that just because she's Catholic she would never divorce, but that's you superimposing your views on her. Wayne is also Catholic but that doesn't stop him putting it about. And to repeat what I said above, I doubt she waited until she was married before having sex or that she lives her life according to Catholic teachings.

I'm sure they do have an arrangement. She turns a blind eye and he pay the bills. She gets to be a SAHM to as many children as she wants, have plenty of paid help with the house and the kids, and spend lots of time on holidays. She's not the first woman to live with that kind of arrangement and she won't be the last.

But it's not as though she'd be a pauper if they divorced. They've been married for years and have 4 sons together. She'd get a massive divorce settlement, especially with all the photographic evidence of his numerous infidelities.

Technically she can get a civil divorce as a Catholic. The issue is that she cannot remarry in the church, and if she starts another sexual relationship she is committing adultery and in a state of mortal sin.

Catholics get divorced all the time. Many go on to remarry.

Like I say, this is not the 1950s.

Why is everyone assuming Coleen is deeply religious? Do people think she was a virgin on marriage? How many British women of her generation live their lives according to strict Catholic teachings?

I'm as convinced that Colleen is staying with Wayne because of her devout faith as I am by Boris Johnson's wedding at Westminster Abbey.

I do believe she probably grew up in a family where her mum encouraged her to look the other way when Wayne strayed.

Catholics get divorced all the time. Many go on to remarry. Of course they can, my sister is divorced and remarried. I'm just pointing out that from a religious point of view it is not the divorce that is the problem.

Yeah because he’d actually want the monotony of day to day parenthood 3.5 days a week?
