Poor chap he's been tricked into sharing an evening of drinking & dancing with some lovely blonde 20 somethings. Followed by being tricked into going back to a hotel with them all. Poor chap doesn't have much luck does he?

A PP, with whom you agreed, said that she was surprised that anybody would be interested in football managers and their wives. I have pointed out a very obvious example of people being interested in a football manager and his wife.

That doesn’t mean that everybody has to be interested in every football manager and his wife. No need to bone up on the activities of the wife of the manager of Tranmere Rovers, for example. It simply proves that contrary to the PP’s assertion, some football managers and their wives attract interest.

and I was also agreeing with pps point that not many are interested in the whole WAG thing any mean. That doesn't mean people aren't interested in the Beckhams though.

Who said that this story made the news solely on the basis of Rooney being a football manager? Nobody. Here is how the debate went (paraphrased):

You/others: Colleen could have her own career on TV and get book deals if she divorced Wayne. And she has been successful in business in her own right.

Me: unlikely. After the first couple of post split interviews she’d look like a sad sack and she only got licensing deals because she was associated with a famous footballer.

You/others: He isn’t a footballer any more, he is a football manager and nobody is interested in football managers and their wives.

Me: clearly somebody is, since the news is full of the activities of this particular football manager and his wife and we’ve been discussing it on this thread for ten pages.

She is the equivalent of Tom Jones's wife who loved him and never divorced him. Wayne would be with a 21 yr old Love Island wannabe knocked up with child #5 in weeks so better Colleen stays with him save him from himself

I've always wandered what Colleens parents think of him. It must be awful to watch a loved one to be treated in that way, but then to have to remain civil with them for the sake of their daughter grandsons (and maybe the limitless holidays).

How old were they when they got engaged? 17? I think that perhaps that was the time for Colleen’s parents to have a word.

Or when she left school after her GCSEs and didn’t bother getting any other qualifications or training for a career of her own. Preferring to go on holiday and buy 25 Balenciaga bags at a time or whatever she was doing!

Or when he was caught with the granny in the brothel during their engagement. Were they so desperate for their daughter to marry a rich man that they didn’t try to talk her out of it then?

Or when, after they were married, he hired those prostitutes, Jenny Thompson and Helen Wood, for a threesome after a long association with both.

Or all the other times when he got drunk and couldn’t keep it in his trousers.

So I suspect that Colleen’s family and friends know very well which side their bread is buttered.

Colleen and here family know what he like… he been doing it for years. We don’t know nature of their relationship. It could be an open marriage with financial benefits. Only they know.

I suspect there was black mail I.e if you don’t give use this much we will sell it to the newspaper. I suspect they were some more indecent photos. Rooney lawyers acted quickly.

"Open marriages" (which tend to be only 'open' on the man's side) usually involve a certain amount of discretion, not repeatedly humiliating your family all over the media.

I wonder where Wayne's family are in all this. You only ever see Colleen and the children with her parents. Do his family not get to go on the Barbados trips too? I've never seen the children with his family members.

I did read somewhere that Colleen doesn't cook so they eat all their meals with her parents. It seems like they are her support network and Wayne's behaviour is just tolerated by them all as they have a very nice lifestyle all due to him.

Wasn't there a massive falling out between the two families at their wedding or engagement? Maybe that's why Wayne doesn't feel particularly tied to being in the family home if her parents are always there and his family isn't welcome.

Doesn't excuse his terrible behaviour, of course.

His cousin is Coleens best friend. Has been since they were teens. She’s always with the children, too.

It was at Colleen’s 18th birthday. A fight broke out when the bar stopped serving alcohol. Colleen’s mother and Wayne’s mother got into a fisticuffs situation because (1) Wayne’s mother, Jeanette, had been grabbing young footballers when drunk, thus lowering the tone and (2) Colleen’s mother, Collette, blamed the Rooneys for starting the scuffle.

Later, Wayne’s cousin aged 18 flashed her breasts to photographers on leaving the party, hoping to start a topless modelling career.

Classy eh?

I can think of one benefit of Wayne Rooney.

When an England men's football manager was appointed who spoke no English and started lessons, it was said (not sure by whom) that you only needed to speak 100 words of a language to be able to communicate. I thought at the time 'that's more than Wayne Rooney knows'.

Having since had lessons in another language, I can verify that is true, as my vocabulary in that language is about that level, and I get by in the said country very well when I visit.
