Water Slide Vagina Injury

WorldsBestBoss · 22/07/2021 23:10

Has anyone ever heard of this happening?
I follow a lady on Instagram called babiesafter35 and I am absolutely traumatised by this phenomenon she has described.

Basically if you go down a water slide there's a chance that the force of the water can enter your vagina and cause severe damage to internal organs, haemorrhage or even death! I am sure it's incredibly rare but I had never heard of this before. Anyone else?

Can happen to women of all ages including young girls.

Never going on a flume again 😱

I remember reading a magazine article where a girl was playing in water fountains (the type you can run through) and the force of the water caused some awful damage.

Sparklingbrook · 23/07/2021 07:57

@ShortBacknSides

Ahhhhhhh, the school holidays have started .
Confused

Have you RTFT?

thebabessavedme · 23/07/2021 08:09

blimey, the bibles sound painful, I thought all I had to worry about was a wedgey! Grin and as for a recital injury...............

Because any discussion about injuries specific to women, in which medical literature is being cited, must be trolls? Or what's your point exactly?
No wonder people don't know about the risks of these activities.

Tistheseason17 · 23/07/2021 08:47

@VanGuff

Not the poo troll but did give myself an enema once on a water slide so I can see how this is possible! Was painful but no major injuries
Yep, this happened to me, too. The awkward half run to the loos!

I can imagine that if water on a slide can do an enema it can get into any orifice!

MrMucker · 23/07/2021 08:49

@voucheRs

I didn’t know this I did recently hear of someone falling off a jetski and a jet of bibles went up her and ripped her intestines
Holy shit!

Was it this one? metro.co.uk/2015/04/03/british-woman-had-to-get-250-stitches-after-a-water-jet-at-blackpool-pleasure-beach-ripped-her-vagina-5133680/

Sounds horrific, that poor girl.

SmallGreenStripes · 23/07/2021 09:18

I remember on holiday in the USA being told to cross my legs to go down one of those massive near vertical slides because it was dangerous for women not to. I didn’t question it then (was 13) but I guess this is why …

WorldsBestBoss · 23/07/2021 09:21
That did happen to a little girl at an Australian water park not long ago.

I'm sorry for the title of the story - a bit explicit and possibly triggering.

www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/incidents/girl-bleeding-everywhere-after-injury-on-whitewater-world-slide/news-story/56e5d4f1868707e0f8c62eca1b910567
Yes this is the incident I was referring to upthread. What I find upsetting is that the first aiders allegedly said, "oh she's just got her period" while she was screaming in pain.

I just think it is important to be aware that this is a possibility,

Water skiiing is the worst culprit for adults, water slides and water jets for paediatric patients.

A JET OF BIBLES

Jets of bibles

Jackgrealishscurtains · 23/07/2021 09:54

I would never go on one of those massive vertical slides anyway, I always imagine I will just fall out of it and plunge to my death! And hopefully DD won't either (shes not really a water slide kind of gal!)

Stick to the ones where you sit in a big donut thing, they are more fun anyway.

Lol at 'jet of bibles' 😂

riotlady · 23/07/2021 10:43

I got an accidental enema from a water slide once and was farting water for hours, so I can see how it happens. Put me off them for life!

SD1978 · 23/07/2021 10:45

Yup. Has happened and can happen if legs aren't kept crossed. A young girl, about 11 if I remember had horrendous internal injuries from one a few years back. It is rare, but absolutely can happen. Always need to keep your legs crossed on rides.

MrsMackesy · 23/07/2021 11:06

Yes, @WorldsBestBoss I realised you might just be a regular name changer too. Mea culpa. I see my limerick has gone - I have never had a post hidden before! - my late night spidey senses are usually spot on. I had not heard of the risks, especially for women and girls, of waterslides and jet skis. I'll stick to my DCs' paddling pool as usual, I think! Well done for raising awareness on this issue.

DaisyDreaming · 23/07/2021 11:08

I remember seeing about a child with a horrific injury after she ran over a fountain that switched on, shot up between her legs and tore her so badly. The poor child. I believe most water shoots which generate powerful water tell people to cross their legs

It's ok.

It wasn't me that reported your post by the way.

That would do it
halandpeeno · 23/07/2021 11:32

Not vagina but I did give myself a 30 mph enema on a water slide. I actually bled :( I had to waddle to the toilets with poop in my swimmers, I was only 18 and there with a new boyfriend. I actually still burn with embarrassment thinking about it.

PumpkinsOfFire · 23/07/2021 11:32

Anyone lamenting the fact that they can never unread this thread?

AnneKipanki · 23/07/2021 11:33

Wow!
That is horrifying . Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
Ia m sorry your limerick was removed @MrsMackesy. I am sure it was sheer poetry.

WorldsBestBoss · 23/07/2021 11:33

I think this is also probably one of the reasons you're not meant to use water slides if you're pregnant. I remember being at Centerparcs with a friend and she wanted me to go on the slides with her. I was pg and said I couldn't as you weren't allowed (wouldn't have wanted to take the risk anyway). She implied that I was being ridiculous and couldn't understand what difference it would make if I was pg or not. I had a big bump so there's no way they would have let me on but I'm sure other people must get talked into it.

OnTheBrink1 · 23/07/2021 11:36

Someone I know had that happen on a jet ski where the upward jet of water went up. Many many weeks the in hospital. Was awful

Crockof · 23/07/2021 11:54

MrMucker quite Grin

Towlingfly · 23/07/2021 12:02

Same reason why children should never go in Jacuzzis. They're really dangerous.
