Bring your worries over here, the Night Shift are still here to mind them

New thread here, since the Last Thread has ever so slowly filled up. Isn't it amazing how little our worries crept up in the night when the world was actually one big worry?

Pandemic or not, this is the place to just park your worries. We don't ask questions, or try to solve your problems. We just hold them, tenderly, carefully, until you are strong enough to take them back. If they choose not to come back, all the better.

Signing in for the Night Shift, V3!

It is probably morning in the UK. It is bedtime on the west coast of Canada.

My worry is my husband. He has not been feeling himself for days. He got put on antibiotics for a urinary tract infection, which he has had many times.

But he had pain in a band around his left chest, fever, and headache. I kept thinking shingles. So did his GP over the phone who said call if you get any rash.

Of course Friday night after hours he gets a classic shingles rash. Aaargh.

I called his GPs emergency line and got a nurse practitioner. She is phoning in an anti viral prescription to pick up tomorrow.

I hope it helps. Worrying.

West coast US here, and I'm up to tuck that worry about your poor DH in with the rest of them. Shingles is horrid! I'm sorry he's suffering.

You go get some rest and park the Worry here. The cat shall keep her beady eye on it if I fall asleep. You just rest.

@StickyThighs. Oh, that’s pretty bad. You are exhausted and the people that should be helping are making it harder.

Thank you so much. Now waiting until pharmacy opens but parking my worry helped.

Able to mind some worries if anyone would like to drop some off. Smile

DidSomebodySaySiamese · 25/07/2021 01:09

Thanks for the rest last night @2018SoFarSoGreat and @tunnocksreturns2019 it made for a much better sleep.

I’ve been carrying the big trunk of worry around again today but I’m ready to hand it over much earlier tonight if anyone wouldn’t mind taking it please?

2018SoFarSoGreat · 25/07/2021 01:27

@DidSomebodySaySiamese I've got your burden for tonight. I'm sure others will be around to help me keep it quiet, so you can let it go. Go on. That's it. Just let it all go.

Have a lovely sleep 💐

Thank you so much.

orangejuicer · 25/07/2021 22:20

Hope everyone is ok tonight.

Sosad101 · 25/07/2021 22:36

[quote 2018SoFarSoGreat]@Sosad101 that's such sad, hard news to learn, to share, to bear. I'm so sorry. 💐

For now, please let us hold a bit of your pain and fear. We can lift your load so that you can get some rest. You'll need to sleep to keep up your strength.

We will be here whenever you need us.

Thank you for such kindness. I was able to share my pain, fear and grief with my parents yesterday and I’m so relieved that everything is out in the open now and no one is trying to pretend nothing is happening. I slept well last night, although I crash multiple times a day.
Thank you for letting me burden x

ABitOfAShitShow · 25/07/2021 23:10

I’ve been really good this evening but it’s creeping back in. Please can I leave my worries with someone before they settle back in?

DidSomebodySaySiamese · 25/07/2021 23:21

@ABitOfAShitShow I’ve had two peaceful sleeps leaving my worries here and I’m feeling better for it so let me look after yours tonight. Let everything creep over to me and get some rest.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 25/07/2021 23:32

I’m also here and ready to subdue any problems that need to be kept in check overnight.
I’ll keep them nice and cozy in the cat’s basket. He never uses it, he very graciously allows me to share my bed with him.

ABitOfAShitShow · 26/07/2021 00:20

Thanks @DidSomebodySaySiamese. It really does help.

Becca19962014 · 26/07/2021 02:30

I don't know if anyone is still around or not.. Basically I've been getting bullying letters about not having the covid vaccine; I was told it wasn't medically suitable now I'm being told to just take the risk. My being as bad as it is generally it's extremely likely that the best case scenario will be hospital which I can't get to. I got a letter yesterday saying I'll be getting a visit as I'm not able to go to surgery. They know why I can't get there and I've told them again and again how ill I am. Been trying to writing and can't. Just seen time, so am hoping having written this I can leave it for now. It's still very warm in my room so I think that's why I thought it was earlier. Anyway. Hoping I can rest now!

Hannayeah · 26/07/2021 02:51

@Becca19962014 I’m right here and I’ll take it. I fully understand. Let me keep this for you and you get some rest.

Also, you can always drop your worries off and someone will come along to get them here.

Chunkymenrock · 26/07/2021 03:08

Such a lovely thread. Flowers

StCharlotte · 26/07/2021 08:40

Thank you for taking my worry on Friday night. DH came home early and seemed suprisingly sanguine. A young man had seen he was upset and offered an ear (about 3am at this point). DH said it all came out and they even ended up having a bit of a laugh as they watched the sun come up. So I thank that young man too. We were not alone and it really helped ❤

Bearsbearsbears40 · 27/07/2021 02:11

Happy to pick up any worries if anyone has anything to drop off tonight…

EduCated · 27/07/2021 04:42

May I sit here? Woken up feverish after my vaccine, full on nightmares and paranoia. Settling a little bit but feeling very jumpy and can’t shake the fear from the dream.

Bearsbearsbears40 · 27/07/2021 05:52

Yes of course @EduCated - remember, it was only dreams.

EduCated · 27/07/2021 09:08

Thank you Flowers managed a few hours of more settled sleep, which has helped.

namcybotwinbloom · 27/07/2021 21:24

I only came on to see how everyone was doing it's such a nice caring thread xx

2018SoFarSoGreat · 27/07/2021 21:35

thanks for checking in @namcybotwinbloom. I'm well, thank goodness, and enjoying the Olympics, albeit the odd timing of viewing here in California.

Is it a thing that watching sports at this level (without a specific horse in the race, for most of us) raises the endorphins / lowers the worries? I don't know if there is any scientific research to show this, but anecdotally, my colleagues and family are all feeling marginally chipper this week.

Happy to take on any worries that are escaping the O's though!
