Bring your worries over here, the Night Shift are still here to mind them

New thread here, since the Last Thread has ever so slowly filled up. Isn't it amazing how little our worries crept up in the night when the world was actually one big worry?

Pandemic or not, this is the place to just park your worries. We don't ask questions, or try to solve your problems. We just hold them, tenderly, carefully, until you are strong enough to take them back. If they choose not to come back, all the better.

Signing in for the Night Shift, V3!

@Becca19962014 I wrote a response last night and lost it! Argh!
Please don't apologise.
I find the impact of lack of electronic patient records in the delivery of care fascinating. It is clearly a disadvantage in this particular case but I think you may not have signed up to it anyway because of the rarity of you condition(s?). I am aware of the false anonymity that can happen in data collection.

Well it's day time. I and the worries including yours @hannahanna had fun last night. I've caught up on sleep this morning and I've got to hand then back now. It's a pity but I'll be back to check if they're gone or still need sitting another night.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 03/09/2021 11:54

I'm sitting in the train finally on my way home to Scotland . I have 6 hours so happy to take the worries along for the ride. They must be masked, so hopefully shall be quiet and calm.

I'm so excited I can't sit still,so am sure to squish one or ten on the journey!

Hmm I think my worries had too much fun.
They've brought friends for today/night!!

Seriously. No meds. And when they did send them they forgot my diabetes meds. Struggled to get in thanks to idiot blocking the corridor with a bloody bike which I can't get past without injury..

It's all just too much.

Bathroom carpet looks about the same as far as I can tell. Ring no bigger (I put things around it to see if it was increasing last night). The landlords handy man has covid, but it's ok as he's "jabbed" so I can't get it. But there's no way it's safe for him to come in here and they won't employ anyone else.

Fell apart in pharmacy again.

@Becca19962014 I’m glad you’ve got some meds at least, hopefully they will help at least a little.

Whereabouts in Wales are you? Someone might be able to help with a pharmacist recommendation who would give you an emergency supply of your diabetes meds?

If you’re in Mid Wales and used to work in a petrol station please PM me...

Becca19962014 · 03/09/2021 23:29

Pain relief yes. Am in mid Wales but not going to say where, please don't be offended. There's only one pharmacy here, maybe they will have a different pharmacist tomorrow who isn't an argumentative idiot blaming me for him being busy, saying my meds are all my fault.

Found out where the water has come from, literally two drops every two hours from small pipe from toilet. I'm going to have to let the person with covid ("it's ok I'm jabbed, even though I have covid, I don't need to stay home or wear a mask it's fine") in and I'm terrfied. I've put something under the pipe for now, but they won't be able to get near it as I've a massive cage bolted around it due to disability which I can't move due to stuff and cannot get to the bolts due to untreated injury.

Sad

Signing up for the night. I might stuff the worries under my pillow tonight as I've got to be up early tomorrow. But I've got space. And no more fun for them if they are multiplying during the day! Naughty worries!

@2018SoFarSoGreat sounds like it has all gone well for now? Did you manage all the emotions?

@Becca19962014 well if it's only one pharmacy you have access to then we'll have to work with what we've got. Here's an idea out of the blue: could uber (eats) do the prescription pick up for you? They do this in the states already for free so it won't be an alien concept for them. And you could set it up pharmacy end whenever you next have access to a friendly face (which doesn't sound often but it should happen at some point?)

Then the toilet... hmm at least you've found the leak. It's the plumbers problem to get access so that's not your worry. I'd let that go. Doesn't sound like there's much you can do about it anyway.

I did get quite confused about the covid infested plumber... does he have covid now or has he had it at some point in the past? If he is sick now then he should be isolating. I don't see what being jabbed has to do with it... or are you scared everyone has covid so you are assuming he has it?

Becca19962014 · 04/09/2021 00:09

Yeah shove em under your pillow!!! Mine got too comfy last night and decided they wanted to multiply!!!

We don't have uber eats here. It's very very rural. But that's a good idea. I might think about taxi drivers who helped me in the past; though I've no idea if they're still driving or not as a lot were forced to stop due to non covid regulation taxis (also not been able to get into one for over a year!). But that's an idea. I'll come back to it tommorow.

Sorry, the plumber thing, my landlord will only use their handyman for any work. They refuse to pay for anyone else. Where I am the figures are around 50% positive. It's fatal in 99% of people with my condition as bad as it is. I was told by specialist to let no one in under any circumstances. The Windows can't be opened so it's really unsafe as I can't ventilate. It was the landlord office that told me he had covid and not to worry as he's jabbed. If the uk governments would just settle on rules and stick to them across the uk it would REALLY help as it's difficult and confusing.

I'll add it was a phone conversation which I really struggle with as well. I've posters outside and inside saying no visitors due to risk. I was told in March 2020 I'd not be allowed a ventilator as it would be a waste (something to do with my condition being difficult to be ventilated AND it's terminal anyway).

Hope that helps! Sorry if not, am exhausted!

Hawkaye · 04/09/2021 00:25

Taxis! I didn't think of those! Oh yeah! That's a great idea! I hope you find an amenable one.

Your health workers seem very harsh with you... no ventilators, no meds. Yikes... Well they are not here now so let's not give them a chance to disrupt your sleep tonight.

And as for the plumber, that might be an easy solve. Either you don't get the pipe fixed for the next 10 days so you know he's past his infectious date by the time he does come round OR you leave the house whilst he's fixing the pipes. Maybe the kind taxi driver can take you out for a spin whilst the plumber is at yours. Grin I like to dream.

I’m not offended at all, please don’t worry about that. We have a similar leaking problem, currently solved by a bowl under said leak and regular emptying!
vodkaredbullgirl · 04/09/2021 00:35

Signing in

Work is driving me nuts, will soon be the last man standing at this rate. No one can seem to hack working nights, it's never quiet all night. Doing extra shifts just to cover the lack of night staff. I'm too old to be finding another job, that has the same pay as where i am.

reighn · 04/09/2021 00:42

Ahhh I can finally let it all out..
I have had the worst couple of months constant bad news week after week, kids behaviour been terrible , family breakdown and most importantly mental health deteriorated, I just what some good news for once. OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 04/09/2021 00:56

Becca19962014 · 04/09/2021 01:47

Have bowl under leak. So far very few drops. God knows how long it's been happening to be as bad as it is!!

Am going to attempt sleep now. Again!

Alas, this is yet another example of why I shouldn’t be allowed out in public...

Wriggling worries can be thrown over to my pillow too if they get too rowdy. There’s usually a neighbourhood party going on about now, If I’m not awake, tell them to take a left at the end of the block.

AWonderfulNewName · 05/09/2021 00:11

I'm here if anyone needs their worries to be looked after tonight!

Becca19962014 · 05/09/2021 00:56

@AWonderfulNewName !!

AWonderfulNewName · 05/09/2021 11:56

@Becca19962014 All your worries are well looked after here! I hope you had a good sleep :)

Becca19962014 · 05/09/2021 12:01

@AWonderfulNewName Thankyou!! No meds today as can't face going out. Trying to do a complaint letter.

vodkaredbullgirl · 06/09/2021 00:54

After tonight's night shift I will have done 53 hours this week.

HannaHanna · 06/09/2021 02:28

@vodkaredbullgirl

Hope you can get some rest. Any worries you need to forget will be safe with me.

HannaHanna · 06/09/2021 02:29

I’ll take them even if you have to stay awake for the night shift!

Hawkaye · 06/09/2021 03:16

My son has just woken up to have his dinner 🤬. So I'm available to shoulder burdens for the night.
