If your child has been diagnosed with ASD/autism/developmental delays - did you have pre-eclampsia during that pregnancy?

Just the above really. I have stumbled across a few studies which have drawn minor links between the 2 (also ADHD) and so I’m curious to see if anyone can relate?

I had PE with my first and whilst he doesn’t have autistic traits, he is slightly delayed developmentally (speaking, mostly, physically, definitely on time) and he shows signs of ADHD. Has done since very young.

Currently pregnant with number two and because of previous pregnancy, they’re obviously on high alert for PE again

No

regularbutnamechangedd · 15/07/2021 18:37

No. Autism and ADHD are genetic.

I had PE with my third child and she is the most neuro typical of them all!

Schmooo · 15/07/2021 18:54

No, young parents, no PE. Just genetic I guess.

MistyFrequencies · 15/07/2021 18:56

No PE. One neurotypical, one autistic.

Comefromaway · 15/07/2021 18:57

No. Dd & Ds are both autistic. But so is their dad, probably me, probably their grandmother on my side & grandfather on dh’s side & their cousin.

I’m fairly convinced it’s genetic.

Eldest has ASD and is now being investigated for inattentive ADHD

Youngest is neurotypical

toastantea · 15/07/2021 19:06

No.

I'm autistic, my mum didn't have it.

I have 2 autistic children, I didn't have it.

TotallyKerplunked · 15/07/2021 19:16

3 PE pregnancies here.

DC1 (DS) autism diagnosis has been delayed but he's fine academically.
DC2 (DD) fine
DS2 (DS) has a development delay, he was flagged as having autism very early on and already has support despite not yet having an official diagnosis.

However that's not the full picture, neither my DSis or DSisIL had PE yet all of their DS's have autism.

Heatherjayne1972 · 15/07/2021 19:17

Yes. Pe with no 2. He’s got adhd
But that runs in exh side of the family
Autism on my side
I’d suggest autism and adhd are genetic

Tal45 · 15/07/2021 19:17

Mine has ASD but I didn't have PE x

OatyBarKid · 15/07/2021 19:18

Nope

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 15/07/2021 19:20

No PE but 1 has ASD.

Mammyofasuperbaby · 15/07/2021 19:22

I had PE with my first and he's now on the diagnosis pathway for ASD and ADHD, however he was premature, extremely growth restricted and stopped breathing multiple times a day. He also had major placental issues and on fluid around him before birth so a lot of his issues could stem form that and genetics rather than me having PE for 4 days

Babynames2 · 15/07/2021 19:25

Yep, PE with my first and she’s undergoing assessment for ASD at the moment (very likely she will be diagnosed). No PE with 2nd and the early signs we saw with DD1 don’t seem to be there so far.

Yep same here.
gogohm · 15/07/2021 19:37

No, very easy pregnancy, natural birth, obvious from birth that something wasn't quite right, diagnosed with dyspraxia at 22 months and autism at 2 yrs 8 months

stargirl1701 · 15/07/2021 19:38

No PE and DD1 is autistic.
