Why are are you awake tonight?

I'm still awake (and haven't even tried to go to sleep yet) cos I have a frozen shoulder.
I could have gone to bed three hours ago but if I had I would be up now until morning.
Much easier to wait an hour when I'm deathly tired and sleep for four/five hours than try now.
I used to love to
Sleep but it's become such a battle that I'd rather not even try.
Long gone are the days when I used to easily sleep for an eight or ten hour stretch, more if I was left to it!!
I yearn for sleep yet it's becoming such a chore.
Falling asleep is not an issue, staying asleep is Confused

Currently up breastfeeding my 3 and a half week old son. He was up all last night cluster feeding so I'm desperately hoping for a slightly more settled night tonight.

Hope you manage to get some sleep soon, OP. Nothing worse than being unable to sleep when you're desperate to.

Deadringer · 10/07/2021 01:08

Staying overnight with my very elderly mother. She will be up several times during the night so hardly seems worth going to bed.

Sweetwindinmyhead · 10/07/2021 01:09

3.5 yr old coughing non stop and crying for me. I am sooo tired

MistySkiesAfterRain · 10/07/2021 01:10

I've switched around my medication and its a nightmare for sleep. I'm not tired at all.

I'm going to have to make a concerted effort again to get back into a routine.

Also my legs ache from walking and its quite warm. I never used to be this fussy. Just found Magnesium oil and switched a fan on.

pbdr · 10/07/2021 01:11

I'm pregnant and my abdomen is just so tight and bloated and uncomfortable, I can't get comfortable enough to sleep :(

SleepingStandingUp · 10/07/2021 01:13

I'd dozed off but twin 1 started crying which set off twin 2. Found twin 1s bottle but had to go down for twin 2s so I'm sitting up now waiting to see if they'll sleep now or start again. Plus my back hurts so it took me forever to get to sleep already

Unremarkable · 10/07/2021 01:13

Torn meniscus in my knee means I’m a restless uncomfortable sleeper. Trying to keep up until my patient husband is fully lly asleep before joining him. You’re not alone OP. Flowers

AddsVsGeorgs · 10/07/2021 01:13

Because i enjoy the weird late night MN threads
Where most of them vanish by the morning 🧞‍♂️💭

drivinmecrazy · 10/07/2021 01:14

TheBeastReleased cherish these nights, might not feel it but one day you will look back and cherish these moments.
My girls are now twenty and fifteen and would swap with you in a heartbeat.

I'm in labour - or am meant to be. Started well this morning then totally stalled at 2pm. I thought second babies were meant to be faster? Midwife broke waters and now hooked up to max dose syntocin drip. Positive vibes please

drivinmecrazy · 10/07/2021 01:16

SleepingStandingUp
I have no words and feel a fool for complaining.
Your night wins hands down!!!!

I'm rarely asleep before 2am. Delayed sleep phases + 9-5 life...the bane of my permanently tired existence!

vodkaredbullgirl · 10/07/2021 01:17

I'm a night owl.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 10/07/2021 01:17

I'm an owl anyway but
a, I have a nasty cold & blocked nose o if I go to sleep I'm just gonna keep waking up with a horribly dry mouth every hour.
(I'll use Olbas Oil but want to wait until I'm very tird)
b, I'm washing blankets for Woolly Hugs and waiting for wm to finish so I can put on last load. I could do it tomorrow but see above...I might as well be productive!

drivinmecrazy · 10/07/2021 01:19

Oh my goodness Jellybean81 how exciting!!!

Lisamonwesaa · 10/07/2021 01:22

Insomnia here I rarely get to sleep before 4am any night

drivinmecrazy · 10/07/2021 01:23

It definitely makes it easier to bare when you are aware that you're not the only person in the land not tucked up in bed and snoring softly until you awake after a sold out ought hours uninterrupted sleep.
It's been so long that I've forgotten what that feels like

Usually a great sleeper but my 7 month old DS has just tested positive for covid, just started showing symptoms so I'm wide awake full of worry Shock

Jasmin82 · 10/07/2021 01:26

Partly because one of my closest friends cut all contact with me (including blocking me on social media) because they "don't want to be seen out and about with someone in a wheelchair."
Mostly because I have an RSI in both wrists and I'm waiting for the pain killers to kick in. Anytime now would be great.
And a tiny bit because Resident Collie has decided that 1 AM is a great time to show everyone that she is an equal opportunities squeaker with all the squeaky toys she can find.

Vodkabulary · 10/07/2021 01:26

My 1.5yr has a cold passed on from my eldest. I think she’s finally dropped off but now I’m wide awake Confused

tofuschnitzel · 10/07/2021 01:29

I hope you can get some good quality sleep, OP. I'm up with my seven week old twins, waiting to see if they will sleep and then I will try to sleep for a bit too. Their sleep is so unpredictable at the moment.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 10/07/2021 01:30

@Jellybean81

sending you quick & painless labour vibes!

my 3rd was the fastest, he was born in 95mins from 1st proper contraction...2nd, not so much🤣

keep us updated!

Sackofnickles · 10/07/2021 01:31

I'm getting induced in the morning. Very nervous.

Biancadelrioisback · 10/07/2021 01:33
