Would any welsh MNs be up for our own subforum?

I know we are not as numerous but we are enthusiastic! MN currently has a Craicnet and a Scotsnet but no Walesnet! If you think this would be something you'd use please comment here or on the post below in site stuff (or on both!). Any name suggestions also welcome - Ddraignet was one, or the more traditional Walesnet/Cymrunet?

You wouldn't even have to be Welsh/living in Wales - it would be a good resource for people looking for holiday advice for example.

@massistar

👍 cwtchnet? A bit contrary to core Mumsnet words but as a non Welsh speaker it's such a fab word. Grin
Not cwtchnet. Ychafi.
NotImpossible · 08/07/2021 16:48

Yes, I'd be interested Smile

RubyFowler · 08/07/2021 16:55

Me too! Welsh but living in England.

tpmumtobe · 08/07/2021 16:55

gillysSong · 08/07/2021 16:57

Well, many seem to want one.
Mine was 30th June, Welsh, Wales chat.

Just in a few posts I found that nobody lived in Portmerion and this is why I couldn't find anything on rightmove Grin

Come on MNHQ some of us have so much to learn.

Seagullslanding · 08/07/2021 17:09

yes

UmamiMammy · 08/07/2021 17:25

great idea.

DacwMamYnDwad · 08/07/2021 17:34

Please don't call it cwtch. Cwtcho in some parts means lose weight, and cwtsh is sometimes used as a word for a hut.

Kenneldogsrock · 08/07/2021 17:37

Yes definitely. No please not cwtch!

BestIsWest · 08/07/2021 17:40

I know all about Owen, his dodgy selling of the parsnips at the nightclub, the bridge he built to get to the parsnips and the scrap he had with the parsnip farmer.
I’ve just finished level 1 of SAy Something in Welsh and it’s great but I do wish there was a transcript as sometimes I find it hard to decipher what they are saying.

Palavah · 08/07/2021 17:43

@barbarapapa oops! I didn't realise there was written material!

BestIsWest · 08/07/2021 17:47

We use cwtch for the dog’s bed.

tiredanddangerous · 08/07/2021 17:50

Yes! Welsh born and bred here but living in England now. Missing the motherland a lot lately.

MrsDThomas · 08/07/2021 17:55

Syniad da!

MrsDThomas · 08/07/2021 17:56

Not not cwtch. Up north its not used

orangejuicer · 08/07/2021 17:57

Yes please!!

sluj · 08/07/2021 17:57

Would I be allowed to join? Mud blood here Welsh Dad and English mum but brought up in England. I'm pleased to say I knew every Welsh word on the thread so far and support Wales in the rugby. Please 🙏

DanceForeverUnderTheLights · 08/07/2021 17:58

Yes please Smile

JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 08/07/2021 18:05

CrazyBaubles · 08/07/2021 19:10

I think it would be a lovely idea. My first thought was to have the word cwtch in there somewhere and can see lots of others thought the same.
The Cwtch would be perfect 👍🏻 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Fangdango · 08/07/2021 19:13

Yes definitely - have always wondered why there isn't one

MargaretFraggle · 08/07/2021 19:14

Not Welsh but spend my summer holidays there and would be interested if non-Welsh are welcome Smile Just signed up to Welsh duolingo!
