Cf or am I being nasty.

Next week 5 of us are meeting up.
We have a group chat.
I posted the time and place at the same time as one of the non drivers asked for a lift.
I live the furthest way.
She then came back and said thank you so much for picking me up.
I hadn't mentioned in my post about picking her up.
Am I being nasty in saying that I can't pick you up as it means going past the place we are going by another 2 miles.
She lives nearer to one of the other ladies but she hasn't offered.

Good grief.

Yes, I would be happy to pick her up.

cervixuser · 07/07/2021 21:48

just say there is a misunderstanding and a cross posting and that you won't be picking her up because it's completely out of your way

JustHereWithPopcorn · 07/07/2021 21:49

Surely that's like a 5 minute drive? Maybe say you'll pick her up but ask if the other person who lives closer can drop her home?

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 07/07/2021 21:50

Cant she walk 2 miles? Takes half an hour.

gamerchick · 07/07/2021 21:52

I wouldn't take the car me saying I would like the option of alcohol. Soz and all that.
Midnightballerina · 07/07/2021 21:52

I would do it. It's 2 miles 3/4mins 5 max?. You're not obliged to but it's not that far.

WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia · 07/07/2021 21:53

Are you stingy with petrol? Why is driving an extra 2 miles for a friend so awful?

BiscuitsNoMore · 07/07/2021 21:54

Reply.. Sorry were you talking to me?
I'm not sure I'm taking my car. But if I do I'll let you know

Sally872 · 07/07/2021 21:54

Has she made a genuine mistake or is she trying to rail road your into into lift because nobody is likely to pick her up?

If genuine mistake I wouldn't cause a fuss for a 2 mild drive.

BiscuitsNoMore · 07/07/2021 21:54

But yes 2 miles is nothing less than 5 min.

Gouldengirl9 · 07/07/2021 21:55

Because you have to go around a one way system and coming back I have to go back around that system.

2 miles? fgs stop being so petty and pick her up.

DeRigueurMortis · 07/07/2021 21:59

For the sake of 2 miles I think you are being a bit petty.

That said, I think she's being cheeky railroading you into getting a lift.

3luckystars · 07/07/2021 22:01

Just say that you will be drinking beforehand and see if she still wants a lift then Grin

dementedpixie · 07/07/2021 22:01

You could put 'oh I think is closer to you than I am, maybe they can pick you up'

xprincessxjanetx · 07/07/2021 22:01

I would pick her up. 2 miles is not far to go in a car but for her it would mean a taxi/public transport or not attending which isn't very fair if you are friends.

Mansplainee · 07/07/2021 22:03

FFS just pick her up, it’s 2 miles!

DeRigueurMortis · 07/07/2021 22:03

Oh and I might as well add (steel pants are on) that if you choose not to drive (I'm not critical of non drivers for medical reasons) then it's up to you to determine how you get where you want to go and not assume other people will ferry you around - regardless of distance.

The cost savings of not buying/taxing/maintaining/fuelling/depreciation on/of a car are huge and more than stretch to a few taxis here are there.

Howshouldibehave · 07/07/2021 22:04

I’m confused. You haven’t offered a lift and nobody else in the group has offered a lift so who is she thanking?

That would actually piss me off. If she wants a lift, then she should bloody ask nicely. I’d say sorry, I’ll be coming from X direction that night so can’t.

CupOfTPlease · 07/07/2021 22:05

I'd just pick her up but then I do got out of my way for non drivers as it's hard being a non driver. Yes there is public transport but if it's anything like ours it's utterly shite.

Ginger1982 · 07/07/2021 22:06

2 miles? You are being ridiculous. I thought you were going to say 20 miles!

RandomMess · 07/07/2021 22:07

Why don't you just say you can drop her home but she needs someone else to give her a lift there because of the one way system?

Yrevocsid · 07/07/2021 22:08

Fucking hell. It's 2 miles.

I find it really shocking that you've even written a post about it. 😮

BoredZelda · 07/07/2021 22:09

Because you have to go around a one way system and coming back I have to go back around that system.

It’s still just 2 miles though?

moynomore · 07/07/2021 22:09

Just pick her up.
