One finger? Two fingers? Whole hand?!

I go with the whole hand. I'd like to be a 2 finger person but I worry about not getting it right and looking weird. You have to keep your fingers together if you're using 2.

Just thought about it this morning as I was at it non stop down the 15 mile one lane road to Loch Etive.

So how do you thank other drivers? Anybody do the grin and 2 thumbs up "fandabidozy" style?

"I can't believe what I first thought you were talking about Grin"

Yup me three 😂

Justmuddlingalong · 07/07/2021 18:14

My finger was about to hit "report" until I read the whole post. 😁
In answer to your question, thumb curved under steering wheel, 4 fingers raised.

Touloser · 07/07/2021 18:15

One finger is sufficient for me Grin

Comedycook · 07/07/2021 18:17

I do it how I like my kitkats...four fingers

I also use the 4 finger technique!

I also have a gutter mind 😳

Mysterian · 07/07/2021 18:17

It's one of those 'cool' things that are hard to think about. The more you think the more awkward it feels.

And some of you have smutty minds. Tut tut.

Whole hand and a smile

I acknowledge a thank you with a finger or maybe 2

Purple21 · 07/07/2021 18:19

4 fingers and thumb under wheel and smile.
To acknowledge a thank you one finger and smile

Mysterian · 07/07/2021 18:22

I mostly recieved 4 fingers this morning. 70% maybe. 20% 2 fingers, 10% 1 finger. NEVER 3 FINGERS.

I'm obviously far too naive to wonder what the confusion was with your post.
One finger.Halo

TSSDNCOP · 07/07/2021 18:24

Whole hand and a big smile

My sister has proved that if you give someone the thumbs up they will respond with a thumbs up even if they started out with a wave or multiples of fingers. It's brilliant.

Faranth · 07/07/2021 18:27

Yep, 4 fingers, thumb under the wheel.

DP, if turning right and is let out, sticks his whole arm as far across me as he can to put his hand up to the side window.

The temptation to yank his arm off and hit him with the soggy end is strong.

Milomonster · 07/07/2021 18:28

4 fingers raised from wheel and a nod of the head. If the driver is fit, he gets a smile.
(Smutty mind here too - great title.)

thedancingbear · 07/07/2021 18:28

Entire fist

dontforgettofloss · 07/07/2021 18:28

Depends what kind of mood I'm in, if I'm in a bad mood, just a finger, if a good mood, my whole hand off the wheel with a smile

thedancingbear · 07/07/2021 18:29

Sorry, wrong thread

CharlotteRose90 · 07/07/2021 18:30

Whole hand here, though I did the thumbs up this morning and then felt a bit of a twat.

Me too. Patronizing all-hand wave from me, though, together with nodding and mouthing "thank you" like a loon.
Nohomemadecandles · 07/07/2021 18:34

As long as you do it simultaneously to actually shifting out the way, I don't mind if you use your whole body! "Enough waving, just drive" is one of our frequent car phrases

I think my fingerness is proportionate to how nice you've been. If I'm just being nice because you should gave stopped anyway, then one index finger. Up to stopping to let me reverse out in the road at a whole hand plus a tinkly wave once I'm out and moving!
