I’ve discovered today that it is wrong, very wrong, to eat chocolate hobnobs with the chocolate side facing down

I mean, don’t get me wrong, I managed to force myself to eat them. But it’s not a natural way to proceed.

I don’t know why I didn’t turn them the right way up either - all I can say in my defence is I felt duty bound to prove that it was a rule that applied to each and every hobnob, not just the odd one here and there.

You may have guessed that I am bored and have time on my hands. I still think this was valuable research though.

Ah but did you know that 'people' ssy the chocolate is on the bottom. No way...

ahoyshipmates · 03/07/2021 21:09

You do know, of course, that the chocolate is on the bottom, and that the same applies to chocolate digestives?

Americam · 03/07/2021 21:09

What?! What sort of deluded person would try and claim that?!

Is everyone on this thread drunk?

Americam · 03/07/2021 21:10

Are you both serious?! I’m having life re-assessing palpitations!

@ticktockriojaoclock

Is everyone on this thread drunk?
Only on upside down (or maybe not) hobnobs.

I saw a film about chocolate biscuit making once.

Americam · 03/07/2021 21:11

There’s only 3 of us on the thread anyway, four including you. Still plenty of gin to go round :)

I suggest you put two together, one facing each way, and then your problem will be solved. There will be no up or down, only joy

Bitofachinwag · 03/07/2021 21:13

Eerrmmm I think you'll find those people are wrong! Were they joking?

TragicKingdom · 03/07/2021 21:13

Haha, I know right, it just doesn't make sense...

This is the most sage advice I’ve heard in a long time. You are clearly very wise.

I can't eat them they hurt my jaw.

What was it called? Was it good? Did they address the chocolate on the top or bottom issue?

Chocolate hobnobs are far too sweet.

Bitofachinwag · 03/07/2021 21:15

The chocolate needs to be facing down because when you bite into it the chocolate side holds the crumbs together so that there is less crumb- wastage.

Americam · 03/07/2021 21:16

I’ll have yours :)

That makes perfect sense. But it's just wrong Smile
nocoolnamesleft · 03/07/2021 21:17

Surely you hold them vertically, to dunk them, so the chocolate is on the side.

Is this one of those life secrets that the whole world has known about forever and not bothered telling me?

Did they address the chocolate on the top or bottom issue?

Yes, they did.

Would you like me to tell you?

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 03/07/2021 21:19

This has thrown my Saturday into disarray. I always thought chocolate was on the top. Mind blown!!!

Chocolatier9a · 03/07/2021 21:21

The chocolate obviously. needs to face down so that there is maximum chocolate to tongue contact. What is the point of putting all that lovely chocolate against the roof of your mouth?

Tut!

warmfluffytowels · 03/07/2021 21:23

Chocolate hobnobs don't taste as good as they used to Sad
