I’ve discovered today that it is wrong, very wrong, to eat chocolate hobnobs with the chocolate side facing down

I mean, don’t get me wrong, I managed to force myself to eat them. But it’s not a natural way to proceed.

I don’t know why I didn’t turn them the right way up either - all I can say in my defence is I felt duty bound to prove that it was a rule that applied to each and every hobnob, not just the odd one here and there.

I always eat chocolate hobnobs and chocolate digestives chocolate side down.

@FaceyRomford

Mr McVitie and his staff work hard to make sure biscuits are crunchy so why make them hot and soggy?
Once I hand over my hard earned for my biscuits, I consider them mine to treat any way I choose. Besides, Mr McV will never know,

Why can’t you test them @Bitofachinwag? Are you trying to fatten me up?

The chocolate should be on top, so that when you pile crumbled blue Stilton or Gorgonzola onto the biscuit, the cheese and chocolate blend together when eaten.
Obviously, this only applies to plain chocolate hobnobs, as only a Philistine would put cheese on milk chocolate hobnobs.

@Americam

Why can’t you test them *@Bitofachinwag*? Are you trying to fatten me up?
An empty crisp packet, a nearly empty Dairy Milk wrapper ( " sharing size") and a barely visible trace of butter icing left on a cake plate say that I will absolutely not be allowed to do any biscuit testing in the near future.

Mask carefully positioned under ones chin like a hammock ensures zero loss of chocolate chunk nor crumbly crumbs.
Saved, collected and neatly preserved for future consumption.

COVID safe, single use biscuit preservation and a contribution to saving the planet right there.
I am vehemently against waste. (Especially that of baked goods)

I should write to a magazines “Top Tips” section with that gem.

@ahoyshipmates

They've got to be bottom-up to be eaten though.

Chocolate has no place on a hobnob anyway.

Nooo, chocolate is the only thing that makes hob nobs edible. A hob nob without chocolate is just pointless right.

@Americam

As a complete aside, is there anyone else in the world called Roald? I’m wondering if it was an accidental naming.
Yes there are, I just looked on FreeBMD.

This is an excellent tip. It needs to go on one of those TikTok “I was today years old” things”.

@TragicKingdom the strange thing is that I never wanted chocolate hobnobs yesterday in the first place! I asked one of my ds’s to get hobnobs for me (can’t get out of bed for a couple of weeks) but specified I didnt want chocolate ones. I even texted him to make sure. And guess what I got? Yes, chocolate hobnobs!

Thank you for all the info on the name Roald by the way. I didn’t know it was Scandinavian.

If you identify as Australian, you can eat them chocolate side uppermost, because they’d be the right way up in your home country.
