I’ve decided I’d like an American man, please can you help me find one!

Yesterday I got talking to the lovliest man (at a clinic we were attending, not in a pub sadly) and I remembered how nice I’ve always found American men.

So I’ve decided I’d quite like one please, and I need you folks to help me find one. Any and all suggestions carefully considered :)

Oh we were shooting ghouls and cleaning up the wasteland to begin with then tried some racing, piloted a few spaceships in an interstellar war then joined the rebels and blew up a Death Star. We’ve had quite an adventure 🤣

Swan Hotel seems like the ideal location for MN meet-up !

Well, I think you really need to narrow this down a bit.

Californian surfer type - Fun to be with, but usually go from job to job. Then again, there are some who are multi millionaires in the tech sector.

New York Culture Vulture - usually extremely well dressed, knows all the exhibits at the museums. Goes to the Hamptons regularly.

New England type - Rugged, probably cross country skis, sails.

I second, third, fifth... not sure how many people have said it - but yes to East Anglia, and Bury St Edmunds.

DD2's best friend from school has just emigrated to the US after her mother married an American who had been posted over here.

Tedsy2 · 01/07/2021 14:45

Go to an ice hockey arena, Tim Hortons or Lululemon store. Canadian men are even better than American men ;)

Eskarina1 · 01/07/2021 14:45

I always thought English rose could be dark haired, dark eyed - Kate Beckinsale type thing.

elfycat · 01/07/2021 14:46

@TeddingtonTrashbag

Lavenham is only a short drive from me...

Lipsandlashes · 01/07/2021 14:47

I grew up near the American air bases and we had some American neighbours, so yes, I would suggest East Anglia.

Americam · 01/07/2021 14:49

Ilovemydog I think I’d find the New York culture vultures hard to live up to, and the Californian dudes a bit irritating. A nice southern one (but with modern attitudes re guns and race and religion) would be fine, as would your namesake! I’m not fussy and I’m happy to put in some effort looking.

@TeddingtonTrashbag that looks lovely. I could hang out there perfectly happily.

Ok well East Anglia/ Bury St Edmunds seem like they need to go high up on my list. But what do I do when I actually get there?!

CaMePlaitPas · 01/07/2021 14:54

@TheQueef you obviously haven't heard the rumours about Mr Hanks...

Americam · 01/07/2021 14:54

I will not steal him from you @ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba as long as you come to Bury with me and help me approach an American of my own!

I see that Rob Lowe is taken slready by a PP.
Looking for similar (tho’ tbf until the OP posted the thread hadn’t thought about it before 😀)

TeddingtonTrashbag · 01/07/2021 14:55

Bases on his tole in The West Wing.

ApocalypseNowt · 01/07/2021 14:55

Either take a big supply of lace hankies to drop or make a trail of BBQ ribs going round a corner where you will be waiting with a large butterfly net 👍

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 01/07/2021 14:56

🤣

I guess I could be your wingwoman.
but you'll have to wait until the schools break up for summer.

MegaCityOne · 01/07/2021 14:57

Perhaps someone local to the pub could go and check out if they are wearing any particular baseball / basketball / American football baseball caps, and if so which seems to the the most popular. Report back on here, then all @Americam needs to do it wear one and walk in. Grin

Yes local ladies please do recce and report back!
So funny if the Swan had s sudden glut of single women booking, and we all eyed each other warily checking in/in the bar
Feels like a film script/short story coming on…

FAQs · 01/07/2021 15:00

OP you need to bend and snap around the ticket machines.

@TeddingtonTrashbag I know right! The ma’am made me lose my voice Blush

That’s a brilliant idea! Surely some of you who live near The Swan fancy a night out? You could go and pretend to be market researchers and ask some useful questions.
