For me it's how colour works. The whole part with reflecting light. Just how can that be true? (I know it is)

If I sat and thought about just how vast the universe is for too long my brain would probably explode. The size, scale and the enormity of it all is too much for me to even begin to try and comprehend.

Batsy · 28/06/2021 10:45

that pineapples grow in fields like cauliflowers.

I've seen it with my own eyes, but my brain refuses to accept that its true..

NotSure94 · 28/06/2021 10:49

Magnets
Forward planning on a calendar
Mental maths
When people describe their home extension plans I can't visualise them at all. (Bit niche that one...)

Planes!

Where we all came from. The idea that something came from nothing.

chickenyhead · 28/06/2021 10:54

How the brain stores memories and personality. It's just grey jelly string.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 28/06/2021 10:55

How humans can accidently make a whole other human, but they can't accidently make a sandwich, or a cake.

Tee20x · 28/06/2021 10:56

Electricity and phones. Basically everything tbh. The fact that people were able to say "I'd like to ring Bob from down the road" and then set about making it happen.

How would you even know where to start ?!

Nanny2many · 28/06/2021 10:59

Clocks changing and time differences in different countries

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 28/06/2021 11:00

The London property market. How can normal family homes be 500k+?

Gilead · 28/06/2021 11:02

Why people voted for the incompetent, corrupt shower currently in government.

I find it weirder how much we forget! If you're 40 years old you've lived 14560 days. How many can you actually remember! If we are the sum of our memories what does that mean, when you can't fucking remember half of them! I find it a bit upsetting sometimes to be honest.

Also if our personality is who we are, and our personality changes are we the same person? How can a baby who just sits around trying to learn how to poo in the potty be the same person as the old woman wandering down the street to get her shopping? Physically she's not in the same as the same body as your cells are constantly regenerating and dying right. So is it like a robot who has been repaired so many times there is nothing left of the original robot?

People who think Boris Johnson is funny / charismatic / doing his best, or in fact anything other than a catastrophic, stomach turning disgrace

When I see huge cruise ships or ferries that hold 100s of cars I’m always blown away that they float with all of that load

I feel the same about airplanes staying up in the sky, especially when you see the size of them on the tarmac!
MirandaWest · 28/06/2021 11:06

How buildings get built. And more specifically churches that are hundreds of years old.

Why people vote Tory. Genuinely don’t get it.

NoSquirrels · 28/06/2021 11:08

For me it’s where the hour goes when the clocks change. Or international time zones generally.

I am an intelligent human, I promise.

LadyCatStark · 28/06/2021 11:09

How people can have thoughts and feelings yet we’re just made up of chemicals.

30degreesandmeltinghere · 28/06/2021 11:09

How it is legal and just that huge amounts of animals are bred for us to butcher and eat...
Millions and millions.
Sad

Batsy · 28/06/2021 11:10

How people can be so monumentally stupid as to think the covid vaccine is experimental.

MadisonAvenue · 28/06/2021 11:12

3D printing. Just can’t get my head around it.

But also the fact that I have no idea what anyone else's perception of colour is. What I think of as 'blue' may not be what you think of as 'blue' and we may be seeing totally different things
peachgreen · 28/06/2021 11:15

Death. I don't understand how people can be here and then just... gone. DH died 8 months ago and I am still completely baffled as to how he's not here any more and never will be again.
