2lb is a great loss @73kittycat73!

I had bloods taken a couple of weeks ago and just had a phone review with the diabetes nurse. I really felt like things hadn’t been going well but she says it seems like I’m doing great.

And my hba1c was 41, down from 48 in Jan (53 in Nov) I’m really pleased but somewhat confused!

73kittycat73 · 12/07/2021 19:00

Thank you BorderlineHappy. Smile I appreciate your kind words. I bet you enjoyed the chicken wings and wine though?! Grin Good luck with the IF. Are you doing 16:8?
I've been in bed most of the day, still feel really bad. Have cancelled Wednesday nights yoga too (Need to give at least 24 hours notice.).
I'm cutting down on my exercise when I feel better. I was getting tired and not listening to my body, ploughing on. I'm going to stick to my two yoga classes a week but only exercise at home on three days, giving myself the weekend off.
How's the ankle today WreckTangled ? A lot more manageable I hope?
How are you feeling today PaperMonster? Not too tiered today I hope.
How's the painting going Hermie12?
I'm going to go back to bed in a minute and watch Australia's Biggest Loser on my tablet. Around 30 episodes in, only about another 30-35 to go! lol

Hi PaperMonster, thank you. Smile The weather is supposed to improve after Wednesday. We might get a bit of summer after all! Is it muggy where you are then?
Hi PleaseStopExplaining Thank you too. Smile Your Hba1c results are really good! Star Could you phone the nurse back and discuss what you are confused about? Is it because you feel differently from what the nurse is telling you?

@PleaseStopExplaining great result - obviously doing something right!!

@73kittycat73 you do sound out of sorts, rest and look after yourself. It is very muggy here! Not been for a walk as it has rained all day. It’s supposed to be lovely here from tomorrow. To be fair, we’ve had our fair share of lovely weather recently here. So hopefully get a little walk tomorrow!

PaperMonster · 12/07/2021 19:13

Oh, and not too tired thanks - and my arm hasn’t been too bad either this past couple of days, which I’m very grateful for!

WreckTangled · 12/07/2021 19:38

That weight loss is great. A few things to consider. You say you 'binged' last night (which isn't a good way to think of it, you just had some snacks Wink), this food volume will have weight to it, if you put it all on a scale how much do you think it would have weighed? Do you think you managed to poo it all out before you weighed? No! So your weight today may not be your lowest Grin also the more you lose the slower your weight loss will become and actually 2lb in a week is double what I would hope for. You're doing amazingly!

My ankle is still bad. I got an X-ray and they couldn't see anything so when I got back to the car I just cried as walking into minor injuries and out again caused me so much agony. I still think it's a stress fracture as they don't show on X-rays usually.

Just smiling to myself as ds is reading and instead of porcupine he said porky pine Grin

Please great results on your bloods! You must be really pleased.

73kittycat73 · 12/07/2021 19:42

We've hardly had any summer weather at all. Not muggy here thankfully. I think that's one on the worst weathers there is. Pouring it down with rain though. Glad to hear you're not tired and your arm is OK. You must be relieved!

Maybe confused is the wrong term. I just completely didn’t expect my bloods to have improved given the last few weeks have been a struggle and my eating had slipped. It’s not as bad as it was before my dx though.

But she just wanted to tell me how well I’m doing. Which is lovely but not helpful when I’m saying it’s difficult.

Sorry WreckTangled, didn't see your post last night. It was 2lb in two weeks. Still, I get what you are saying about all that food weighing something. Thank you for trying to make me feel better. Flowers Sorry you haven't had any luck with your ankle. Sad I don't know what they do for stress fractures? (I've never had one luckily, or broken a bone.) Can you see your GP for some stronger painkillers and advice? PleaseStopExplaining iirc your Hba1c is from your last three months, so if you have only slipped a bit recently it won't show as much. Is there anything we can help you with on here?

Hello all, glorious day here with a cooling breeze. Managed to escape the house as OH came home to work unexpectedly this afternoon. So I’ve done about 6k. Had a hot bath and a bar of chocolate - I read some research about hot baths lowering blood sugars so I use that as an excuse!! And when I was measuring my levels, it actually seemed to work!! And then I read in Invisible Women that that research was only conducted on men! Anyway, seems to work for me!

Had a very fun morning with my daughter on her class Zoom - her teacher is so fab!!

73kittycat73 · 13/07/2021 20:16

Sounds like a lovely day PaperMonster. Smile I never knew that about baths. I wonder if showers work the same? (Only have a shower.) Lovely that you had fun with your daughter today. I like the bit about the chocolate best...Grin

@WreckTangled will you go back to the GP for referral elsewhere? I have osteoarthritis in my hip and that didn’t show up on x-ray and I felt like people would think I was imagining the pain. It showed up on an MRI though. Am a bit worried the x-ray next week won’t show anything either.

@73kittycat73 red how shower for 20 mins - I reckon it would have the same effect!! I love a bath me! And am looking forward to tomorrow’s class too!! We are having a bonus week of lie-ins, that’s the positive side of isolating!! And we do both love our sleep!!

BorderlineHappy · 14/07/2021 09:01

Morning ladies.
I'm still stuck in the plateau so it seems.
I've upped calories,downed calories.
Eaten loads of shite and I'm still here. Stuck.

73kittycat73 · 14/07/2021 11:00

I feel like I need to 'confess.' I'm off the wagon till Monday. I have been dieting since February and apart from my unplanned binges, I haven't had any official 'time off.' My cravings at night have become so immense they were overwhelming, last night they needled and pushed me till I give in. Honestly, it was bad. I think giving up smoking was easier than that. I was planning a fantastic binge of ice cream, cake and chocolate and honey Cheerios, but having stuffed 4 Fibre One bars, 4 squares of dark mint chocolate and a Alpen bar this morning I went to amend my Sainsburys shopping and could only face adding ice cream and a muffin (Actually ended up buying salad!). I haven't been exercising as I've been off colour (Feel almost back to normal today, 97% better, still that lingering last dregs of feeling off.) either. So I have decided to officially give myself time off until Monday, weigh myself then, and start again. Will go back to weighing once a month as I find that easier.
I love baths too PaperMonster, I really miss them. Used to lie in them for hours, usually with candles and a bar of chocolate. Grin OOh a lie in sounds good. Smile I woke up about 5.30am today and couldn't get back to sleep. Hope you enjoy your lie ins.
How frustrating BorderlineHappy Sorry, I don't know what else to suggest? Hopefully the scales will budge soon for you. Flowers

Oh @BorderlineHappy, that sounds so frustrating and I’m not sure what to advise there.

@73kittycat73, I think that sounds like a plan. You’re acknowledging your cravings there but making the decision to get back on to it so it takes the pressure off a bit. I’m in the Low Carb Uk group on Facebook and the woman who runs it talks about ‘way of eating’ instead of dieting - which I think helps more if you do eat something which on a diet is “off limits” as there’s not that same feeling rubbish about yourself. If that makes sense?

BorderlineHappy · 14/07/2021 11:30

I think it's time I joined the gym.
I'll have to wait till next week till I have the funds.
But I'm doing it.
It'll give me the extra push I need.

PaperMonster · 14/07/2021 11:33

Go for it @BorderlineHappy!

BorderlineHappy · 14/07/2021 11:37

@73kittycat73 I think we all need time to fall off the wagon now and again.
Enjoy your treats, tomorrow is another day.

@PaperMonster I'm actually in the Jason Manford weight loss group and the d word is banned.
It's a lovely group,a bit like here.
No holier than thou attitude.

73kittycat73 · 14/07/2021 11:45

I hear what you are saying about a way of eating PaperMonster. My trouble is I'm too impatient! I view losing weight like ripping of the plaster, the quicker the better! I also can't be trusted (specially at night) with treats in the house, even if they are there for the reason of just a little bit each day. I'll eat it all in the night. I think you're right though, I do need a more sustainable way of eating. I'll have a ponder...
BorderlineHappy what about doing some YouTube vids in the meantime? They're free if you can put up with a couple of ads. Or do you need the discipline of actually going out of the house?

PaperMonster · 14/07/2021 12:03

@73kittycat73 I hear you about the evening!! It’s hard to resist!

@BorderlineHappy I’ve seen him talk about that group!

PaperMonster · 14/07/2021 12:03

I’m off to buy fries - for the isolating child!!

BorderlineHappy · 14/07/2021 12:32

I actually did the you tube video but because the kids aren't in school,I can't get up to do them,I love my bed too much🤣

73kittycat73 · 15/07/2021 19:08

How's everyone doing today? I got lost down an Etsy rabbit whole yesterday, looking at Christmas stuff. Seen some fabulous Christmas themed shoes but as I can't walk in heals and there £129.00 I won't be getting them! Grin
How is your ankle wreck? And your arm Papper? I hope you are OK too Border? You too Please and Hermie?
I have stepped back and taken stock of my weight loss after a huge blow out yesterday. I realised I was being too strict and pushy with myself. I had been approaching losing weight like ripping off a plaster: the quicker the better, and exercising like mad too. Well, I've decided to calm the f**k down. Grin After doing the NHS BMI and a BMR/TDEE calculator I have decided to up my daily calories from 1200 to 1400. I should lose about a pound a week on that. I'm also stopping 16:8 for now. I have also decided I am still doing my two yoga classes (Mon and Weds.) a week but have cut down to just doing just my tummy exercises on Tues, Thurs and Friday, giving myself the weekends off. The weight loss will be a lot slower than I'm used to and it'll take minimum 17 weeks to lose what I want, but if it's more sustainable and enjoyable I'm more likely to stick to it, right?

OMG those shoes! I couldn’t walk in them!! Have Irregular Choice none with smaller heels?

You sound very organised with your plans there!

My arm is a bit more hurty today, but definitely not as bad as it has been!

Been so very hot here today!
