Ice doesn't help at all even though I've been doing that. Ibuprofen doesn't touch it but paracetamol does, I'm wary that when I'm in less pain though that I tend to use it more and don't want to make it worse. I think we have some out of date ibuprofen gel... Grin

73kittycat73 · 09/07/2021 20:36

Aww WreckTangled, that's not woe is me at all. I'm so sorry you are in so much pain. I'm sure any effort made in the gym will stick, and will be easier to get back into once your ankle is better. Have you found the gel? Is there anything a Dr can prescribe to help?

I absolutely recommend Tiger Balm. (And it comes in a pretty pot!!) Deep Heat do a roller ball which is good too.

Hi everyone, hop your ankle is feeling better WreckTangled?
How are you today BorderlineHappy? Coping well I hope. Flowers
Hi PleaseStopExplaining, has you Hba1c results come through yet?
Hi Hermie12 how the painting and KitKats going? Grin
Just having a quiet weekend here, probably watching the tennis. Anybody else got any plans?
Hi PaperMonster I haven't used Tiger Balm for years. Does it burn a little, or am I thinking of something else?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 10/07/2021 12:17

No it's still bad. I considered minor injuries but they prefer 111 to book the appointment. Called 111 who asked me 20 irrelevant questions and then advised me to see a GP. Called minor injuries who advised their X-ray dept isn't open at the weekends so that's that. And that's the nearest one which is 20 miles away. Feeing thoroughly fed up. It's definitely not a sprain as I didn't twist it or anything and I can actually move my ankle round with no pain at all. First thing in the morning when I'm in bed it doesn't hurt but as soon as I stand on it it does. I think I need to rule out a stress fracture. I'm high risk for it.

We're not doing anything as I can't walk Grin dh was meant to work today but got rained off so is going to work tomorrow instead. I'll make pizza pinwheels for the dc's lunches tomorrow as a treat, it's such hard work trying to think of healthy varied lunches that they'll actually eat so they can have that as a one off.

Hermie12 · 10/07/2021 12:29

Hi everyone, @73kittycat73 the kitkats are now out of my life ! The painting went well yesterday, no more outdoors for a few days now as more rain Hmm . Supposed to be going to a family birthday party but the weather could make that interesting. I used to use tiger balm for headaches, fabulous stuff, only the white one though. Have a good weekend everyone x

BorderlineHappy · 10/07/2021 13:46

@WreckTangled ah I'm sorry that's sounds awful.
@73kittycat73 I'm stuffing my face with chicken burger and chips.
I haven't had them in so long.
They are good.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

PaperMonster · 10/07/2021 13:54

@WreckTangled I found 111 rubbish when I was in pain after my accident earlier this year. I rang the GP and sobbed to the receptionist and then to the GP who told me to get to hospital!!

@Hermie12 oh yes, only the white one! The assistant at Boots told me not to get the red one as it stains - and I’m very fond of wearing white tops!!

WreckTangled · 10/07/2021 14:03

They're useless aren't they? The only questions that related to my ankle were 'when did the injury occur?' To which I said I didn't actually do anything to do but the pain started almost two weeks ago, was it swollen and was it warm to touch. Oh and can I walk four steps even if it's painful. The minor injuries unit wanted people to book via the 111 which is why I called (before I realised their X-ray dept was closed at the weekend) yet they wouldn't let me do it Hmm

Hermie the rain has cleared from where I am now and it's just cloud so hopefully be ok for you.

Jealous of your chips Borderline

73kittycat73 · 10/07/2021 20:08

Hi WreckTangled. Sorry to hear you're not getting anywhere with help for your ankle. Have you thought about trying A&E? Pizza pinwheels sound delish, how do you make them?
Thanks Hermie12, I hope you have a great weekend too. I hope it didn't rain on your party?!
I don't blame you BorderlineHappy, Smile I hope they were delicious. Smile I hope you have a great weekend too.
Hi PaperMonster, how are you today?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 10/07/2021 20:21

No, I don't fancy sitting for six hours in A&E. I've done fewer than 1000 steps today so my ankle isn't too bad right now! Pizza pinwheels are just puff pastry with pizza sauce, cheese and ham (or whatever you want) cut into strips and rolled then baked. So they look like a cinnamon roll but pizza flavour I suppose Grin

73kittycat73 · 10/07/2021 20:54

Glad your ankle feels better than last night then. Smile
Thanks for the pizza pinwheel explanation, they sound delicious!
You know what? I'm tiered so I'm going to treat myself to a very early bedtime. Smile

Well, I've well and truly fallen off the wagon today, the day before weigh in! I felt really bad earlier, really bad hot flushes that left me drenched, then cold and shivers and was freezing. Felt weak and light headed and dizzy too. Thought it might be blood sugar so crammed in about 1000 calories of chocolate and sweet food. It made a bit of a difference but not much. Went for a lie down and feel a little better but still ill. Have cancelled tomorrow nights yoga.
I hope everyone else is doing OK today?

Did you call the doctor yet about adjusting your meds?

PaperMonster · 11/07/2021 17:50

Oh heck @73kittycat73 hope you’re feeling a bit brighter now.

I’m just tired. Didn’t sleep well. I should have had a walk today but not enough energy to!

Daughter’s class’s bubble has burst so she’s home for the last week of term.

PaperMonster · 11/07/2021 17:51

Don’t often have fruit, and only strawberries and raspberries when I do. Just had one enormous strawberry swimming in cream and I bloody enjoyed it!!

WreckTangled · 11/07/2021 18:26

Oh that's disappointing paper I'm hiking we make the last two weeks, not a single case in the whole school for the whole pandemic so far.... same goes for most primary schools round here though.

BorderlineHappy · 11/07/2021 18:29

@73kittycat73 tomorrow is another day.We all need a day where a blow out is needed.
@PaperMonster I'm glad, nice to have something enjoyable. Especially as you needed it.

73kittycat73 · 11/07/2021 18:55

No, I haven't yet WreckTangled. I was put off by trying to get a regular prescription from them last week. I thought I'd also take my BS for a week then 'phone with the results. I don't know when to take my BS though, last thing at night and first thing in the morning?
Hi PaperMonster, thanks. Not feeling 100% but better than I was. I don't think it was a BS crash, I think I've just picked a bug up. Sorry to hear you're tiered today and didn't sleep well. That never helps things does it? I hope you have a better night tonight. Flowers Oh just read, strawberries and cream, lovely! I love cream. (Me and my mum like to wind each other up. I love cream and she hates it, but she loves cold custard and I hate that. I say it's like having cold gravy on your food! So we like to tease each other about it. Grin )
Hi BorderlineHappy thank you for your kind words. Smile How are you atm?
Did anybody watch the tennis? Won't say who won in case you're watching later. Went on a while though. What about the football? I don't usually follow football but will try and keep an eye on the score tonight. Come on England! Grin Football

I think if you're feeling unwell take it then, yes to first thing in the morning too. Also maybe a pre dinner reading then two and four hours after. Not all on the same day as it'll drive you mad I'm sure!

I've done loads of housework today and still have three loads of washing to fold.

PaperMonster · 11/07/2021 19:06

@WreckTangled - there were two cases up to Jan of this year. Then three in the past two weeks!! She’s missing such a lot of stuff this week too now, not just in school. So disappointing. The only silver lining is that they had THE most amazing day on Friday - which turned out to be their last day together!

73kittycat73 · 11/07/2021 19:14

Thanks for the advice. I will take my BS tomorrow morning. Just taken it now and it's 6.3. House work is like gardening, never ending! Grin

OP posts:
73kittycat73 · 12/07/2021 10:32

Binged last night (Two small Haagen Dazs ice creams, lots of Celebrations and a chocolate muffin. Sad ) I took my BS this morning and it was 6.0.
Weighed in. Really disappointed as I've spent the last two weeks really strict. I lost 2lb. I know a loss is a loss but I was so strict and exercised everyday! I usually lose a lot more than that. Makes my end goal (10st) seem so far away. Sad It might have been something to do with my binge though, so will weigh myself again tomorrow morning. My BMI is now 25.2 (So close!) and I've stayed the same in the bust (36") lost 2.5 inches from my waste, which is now 36" and within NHS guidelines and an inch from my hips (41").
Hope everyone else is OK today? Still feeling a bit under the weather. Glad I cancelled yoga.

OP posts:
BorderlineHappy · 12/07/2021 11:49

@73kittycat73 that's a great loss.Just keep chipping away,you'll get there eventually.
I ended up having chicken wings and a couple of glasses of wine last night.
I still haven't lost so I'm going back to if.
I seem to eat way too much having 3 meals a day.
I rather my 2 biggish meals and a snack.

PaperMonster · 12/07/2021 11:57

@73kittycat73 I’d take that loss as a win! Well done!

Nothing happening here today - just homeschooling and a bit of ironing!

It’s a bit drizzly outside, but so flipping warm! Hopefully I’ll get out for a walk when OH gets home.
