Dad’s doing ok thank you @73kittycat73 and their new home is looking more like theirs now too! Last time I went there was not much in there, but they’ve got their furniture now.

We’ve been to see a friend and her children for an hour today too which was lovely.

Felt Much brighter today. Worked for a couple of hours this morning too. Only felt really gritty once we got to teatime! Drove home from my parents and immediately felt thankful that I will not be doing that drive every day during the winter - they live not far from where I used to work and it’s an awful drive in the dark!

73kittycat73 · 29/10/2021 20:48

Lol BorderlineHappy. At least you can occasionally bribe toddlers! Grin
It's good your dad is doing OK PaperMonster. Smile I'm glad also that you feel a bit better today.
I've just Purchased The Suicide Squad (A film) from Amazon Prime so I'm going to go get cosy in bed and watch it on my tablet.
I also have new bedding. I had two Cozee Home (From QVC) sets, one I've had for years and it's finally had it, so I ordered a teddy fleece set from Studio. Made my bed up with it today, it seems so light and thin compared to the Cozee Home but I'm looking foward to trying it out. Shall report back tomorrow. Grin

Oooh I love my teddy duvet - I got a cheap one from Wilco in case I didn’t get on with it. Only trouble is the storage of it! And I can only fit that duvet in the washing machine!! Can’t even get the pillow cases in with it! Enjoy your film!

@73kittycat73 nothing better than new bed sheets and duvets.
@PaperMonster glad you are feeling better.
And im glad your dad is doing better also.

73kittycat73 · 29/10/2021 21:41

I hope it's nice and snuggly. Grin I insulated my windows yesterday, (Thick padding all round the frame.) even when shut you could see daylight through the gaps between the window and frame! It's not too bad in here tonight, but then it's not raining or windy.

No decorations until a week or two before Christmas here. We always have a real tree. I usually put window lights up on the 1st December.

PaperMonster · 30/10/2021 17:31

@BorderlineHappy thank you xx

@73kittycat73 year, it is so lovely and cosy! Love it! Our windows can be quite draughty. I usually put bubble wrap over the small one in the kitchen during winter.

Had a nice afternoon visiting a friend in the village, roast beef for tea and now waiting for Strictly!

BorderlineHappy · 30/10/2021 19:28

@PaperMonster I had roast lamb today.
Just seemed the day for it.
Have curry tomorrow with the leftovers

PaperMonster · 30/10/2021 20:44

Oooh @BorderlineHappy I’m having a curry tomorrow too! A chicken one though!

73kittycat73 · 30/10/2021 22:34

I don't usually put them up so early. I have only once before. I've finished decorating today. Xmas Grin I've only done my sideboard and side table and top of dresser. Oh yeah, and a chair cover for my desk chair. Sounds a lot but doesn't look like it. I only had a real tree once (In my adult life.). I also had a corded carpet...The needles were buggers to get up! I also lived in a first floor flat then with no garden. I kept the tree up until February (No decorations on.) as I felt too guilty to throw it out! lol I've not heard of the bubble wrap trick PaperMonster. I have resulted to cling film and double sided tape before. What did you think of Strictly? My favourite tonight was between Rose and Tilly. Ooh curry BorderlineHappy. Make mine a korma and I'll be over for it asap. Grin Watched my film. I did enjoy it but wasn't prepared for all the blood and guts! It was a tad graphic. I'm sure the first movie wasn't as bad! I still liked it though. If anybody is interested in the bedding, here's the verdict. I prefer Cozee Home. The teddy bedding kept making me really hot so I kept having to remove the covers then I got cold. Also my duvet moved around inside it overnight so I had lumps of duvet and some areas of just duvet cover. I find Cozee Home keeps you warm but doesn't over heat you. I shall keep and use the bedding though. Maybe it will be more suitable for winter.

Actually it's a Goan curry,it's from Aldi and it's rather nice.
I'm doing it in my instant pot,my new favourite toy.

Rocco hopped in to the fridge today, after the lamb no doubt 🤣

WreckTangled · 31/10/2021 04:18

I've got Christmas cushion covers this year. I'll put them on in December too!

PaperMonster · 31/10/2021 08:20

Enjoyed Strictly @73kittycat73 and Rose’s dance was amazing! She’s definitely a contender! Loved John and Johannes as usual - they remain our favourites purely because of our connection to them though!!

What will you do about the bedding? It’s a shame you got too hot in it. Might it be better in the depths of winter? Not sure what you can do about the bunching up though.

@BorderlineHappy Aldi do a lovely frozen curry - it’s chicken and Spinach, but that’s all I can remember about it!!!

73kittycat73 · 01/11/2021 22:18

Hello everyone. Smile I wasn't on yesterday as in the morning/afternoon my nieces came round. It was really nice seeing them. They behaved so well (Hardly a spat between them!) WE were looking at old photos with them. They couldn't believe the one of their dad as a baby!
We also got everything out the shed as my mums' Xmas decorations were in there. Couldn't find the base to her Xmas tree though so have anew one coming tomorrow. Oh, and some spray cans of snow for it. Smile
Hope you enjoyed your curry BorderlineHappy . Lol at Rocco.
I have white with sequined snowflake cushions WreckTangled. They don't look as garish as I have made them sound! lol I have a matching throw on the sofa too.
I enjoyed Roses' dance the most too PaperMonster. I thought she did really, really well. I loved Tilly's dance too.
Yup, I shall keep the bedding. I think it will be great in winter.
Bar saving up the money for my nieces, I finished my Christmas shopping this evening. Yay! Grin

Hello all, hope you’re all doing ok! Think this cold is finally going after five weeks, hurrah! Back to work this week - daughter off school today because she’s been sick. Fortunately her dad was working from home! Back to walking lots! Nine miles today!

Well done on completing your Christmas shopping @73kittycat73. We’re having a trip out on Saturday to do ours!!

73kittycat73 · 02/11/2021 20:02

Hi, so glad your cold is getting better! Smile Nine miles? Wow. Well done! Star Ooh, I hope you have a great time on Saturday. Are you making a trip/day of it? Are you going to try and get it all done on the day?
Tree never turned up today. I'll have to get in touch with George tomorrow as we paid next day delivery for it. The snow spray came, lucky the order contained two bottles-they are tiny!
Still, bar the tree my mum's is all decorated too. Xmas Grin

OP posts:
PaperMonster · 02/11/2021 21:53

Oh my goodness! Decorated too!! We decorate the first weekend in December.

We shall try and get most of the shopping done on Saturday. We’ll have a day trip out to a lovely town about 30 miles away and we usually have lunch somewhere there too!

I’m up to 12 miles now for today! Tomorrow will not be as many miles!

I hope you get refunded the delivery charges! And that the tree arrives!

73kittycat73 · 04/11/2021 10:57

The tree turned up a day late. But it's here now. Xmas Smile When I was young and lived at home we used to decorate on my birthday (Early December.). Hope you have a lovely time on Saturday. Sounds like fun! Xmas Grin
Oh yeah, we did get refunded the delivery cost, thanks.
All that walking! You have so much stamina. Smile How's your cold and chest infection doing?

OP posts:
PaperMonster · 04/11/2021 11:28

Hurrah for the tree arriving and for the refund!

I guess I must have stamina! Never thought about it really! I’ve done about six miles already today but I’ve been cleaning a big building - full of cobwebs today it was! Then home for lunch and then off to school shortly where I walk around all lunchtime and then back to the big building where I shall be hoovering - a lot today!! Then I’m back at school for three hours, but I don’t do masses of walking in that session.

My cold is much improved thank you! It’s just nighttime coughing a bit now, but it’s not keeping me awake like it was before. OH has it now and daughter’s coughing well and is shattered of an evening so I think she’s a touch of it now too!

Right, off I go walking again!!

BorderlineHappy · 04/11/2021 13:59

@PaperMonster glad to hear your cold is not as bad now.
@73kittycat73 ah enjoy decorating your tree.

I misplaced one of my prescriptions.Got on to the hospital yesterday afternoon and i got the prescription through the post this morning.
Very impressed i have to say.

Nothing really happening here, except Rocco shit on my cream office boots.Luckily i copped it Grin

PaperMonster · 04/11/2021 18:47

OMG re the boots @BorderlineHappy! And hurrah for a speedy prescription!

Now up to 16 miles walked today! And by crikey, an absolute manic few hours at work!! I’m sposed to be off out shortly to a club I belong to but not sure I have the energy!!

73kittycat73 · 04/11/2021 22:43

Blimey, you don't do things by half! lol
I had a small spider trying to make a web above my bathroom sink last night. I didn't squish it but tried to gently move it. We both panicked and it ended up going down the plug hole! I know it will survive. I watched a documentary once that explained spiders kind of pull their legs round and make a air bubble so they can breath, and then climb back up! Silly place to make a web though.
I'm glad you are feeling better and sorry to hear about your other half and daughter. I hope they get better soon.
I have my booster and flu jabs due tomorrow. I'm not worried about the flu jab but a bit worried about the booster. I did read though that if you are going to react, it would be the same way as you reacted with your second jab. I didn't have any reaction, so fingers crossed!
Oh no, I hope the boots turned out OK?! That is super speedy and very good of the hospital to be so quick. Smile
Are either of you doing anything for Bon Fire night? We've had fireworks going on all week, but I believe yesterday was Diwali? I haven't heard of any organized displays yet this year. I don't know what my nieces will be doing. I'm sure their dad will take them somewhere. Smile

OP posts:
BorderlineHappy · 05/11/2021 07:43

We don't celebrate Bonfire Night here.
@73kittycat73
Good luck getting your booster and flu jab.

@PaperMonster I swear your doing my steps as well as your own🤣
I've been really slacking lately, steps right down and healthy eating is gone out the window.

My sugars where 8.6 the other night, highest they've been in a long while.
Back on it this morning, this cold weather makes it hard to be motivated.
Salad isn't exactly appetising in this weather🤣

PaperMonster · 05/11/2021 14:06

@BorderlineHappy aaaah, that’s the lower side of high though so not too bad. I’m not as good with eating properly at the mo cos I think I keep thinking all the walking will help! Plus being poorly for all those weeks didn’t help! Only done two miles today.

No bonfire for us as daughter is scared of fireworks. There is a (ridiculously expensive) organised one in the village so hoping we can see them from our upstairs windows as she can cope with that!!
