Aww, that's so cute about Rocco BorderlineHappy! I love it when they paw at you like that. Sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather. I hope you get better soon, and warm up! It's not too bad here. I mean it's not freezing...
Wow, you are suffering PaperMonster. I hope the PCR is negative. I'm really sorry you feel so bad. I hope you feel better soon too. Your poor head.
I've not heard of My Hero Academia. I'll have to check it out!
Big (((HUGS))) to you both. I really do hope you both feel a lot better soon.

Thank you. Feeling a little brighter tonight. Supposed to be on a course tomorrow but not going. Think I’ll try and do some tidying, but think I’ll need to pace myself!

PaperMonster · 24/10/2021 09:42

Woke up thinking of this @73kittycat73 - is it probiotics I need to help after ABs? I’ve another Covid test arriving today - the one that arrived yesterday had the swab missing!!

Did you watch Strictly? Loved JoJo’s dance! And AJ’s!

Paper I've been watching Maid too. Really enjoying it. Won't get a look in now it's half term though.

We're going to a garden centre today to look at the Christmas decorations Smile

73kittycat73 · 24/10/2021 12:24

Hi PaperMonster. Smile Probiotics is a good idea. Good luck with the new test, I hope it's all there! So glad you are feeling a bit better, but do pace yourself with any activity. I sort of watched Strictly (Was sewing at the same time. ) I really liked Johns' dance, and Tilly's. Oh and Rose's. I wonder who will be in the dance off tonight?
Hi WreckTangled. Smile Enjoy the garden centre. Ooh, Christmas decoration shopping, I'm so jealous! Are you going for anything specific or just browsing? I hope you have a lovely time, and come away feeling all festive. Xmas Grin
Am going to try the heating today. I really hope it doesn't make too many bad noises! Sets me right on edge. Shall report back later how it goes.

PaperMonster · 24/10/2021 17:31

Hope you had a lovely day @WreckTangled. There’s a garden centre we like to go to and look at the decorations. They have Christmas displays for children - wondering if my ten year old’s too old for it now!!

I’ve managed ironing whilst catching up on the last two episodes of Bake Off! And that’s about my limit!

How’ve you got on with your heating @73kittycat73?

WreckTangled · 24/10/2021 17:35

My 11 year old likes looking at the decorations.

We just went for a mooch didn't buy anything. Ds saw a few things he wanted so to avoid a meltdown I got him to take a photo with my phone so we can add to birthday/Christmas lists.

73kittycat73 · 24/10/2021 20:23

Well, as predicted, the heating banged loudly and hardly came on, so I will have to call the landlord tomorrow. Could have really done with it today, have been really cold! Thanks for asking PaperMonster. Smile
I never got into Bake Off. I love cakes and would have sat there drooling all the way through I think. Grin
Did you watch the results (Of Strictly) tonight? I agreed with the judges. Looking forward to next weeks Halloween special. They didn't do one last year did they? I always think (When they do, do them) that the costumes and make up are done so well.
Did you see anything you wanted WreckTangled? Good shout with the phone pics. Was there lots of decorations?
I'm going to watch Angel Black (Thriller on ITV) and go to bed to read. I really must get a handle on my eating. My clothes are starting to get tight, and when I've ate a lot of chocolate I get a lot more anxious. I also ate late again the other night and was up most of the night with really bad acid reflux. Had to take loads of Renee's and Gaviscon. You think I would learn, but no. Sad I've dug out my copy of Allen Carr's 'The Easy Way For Women To Loose Weight.' From what I remember he says you can eat anything you want and what you wan will be fruit! Still, it wouldn't hurt to read it again, I might pick something useful up, you never know. Food shopping coming Wednesday so am starting then. Just sticking to breakfast dinner and tea and maybe one savoury snack in the evening.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 24/10/2021 20:34

They had loads of decorations out, didn't see anything I wanted thankfully. Shame about the heating but at least it gives it time to be fixed before it gets really cold.

PaperMonster · 24/10/2021 21:37

Hope they can get the heating fixed for you promptly @73kittycat73. I can’t remember a Halloween special last year. But yes, you’re right, the make up and costumes are always amazing! We were prepared for tonight - daughter’s been upset in the past when Oti’s left but she’s at a more reasonable age now to recognise that her partner’s not up to much! And thankfully she’s also very excited about John & Johanes! She did insist on voting for Ugo & Oti last night as she felt they needed the votes more!!

We all love baking in this house - OH is a good bread baker and I will indulge in a slice or two of his whole meal now and again! So we all enjoy this programme together!

I might venture out tomorrow if I feel up to it. It’s dry and I would like to go for a little walk. I’ve promised daughter a milkshake at the holiday park we live near, so will try and make it there!

That’s a really great way of avoiding a meltdown @WreckTangled! You prompted me to look when the Christmas nights were at the garden centre we like to visit, but they don’t start til November. Will probably plan an evening there with mum and daughter!

BorderlineHappy · 25/10/2021 18:25

@73kittycat73 hope you got your heating sorted.
Gave Rocco a bath and that went down like a lead balloon.
Feeling much better but haven't used my CPAP in 2 nights. So I'll have to use it tonight

73kittycat73 · 25/10/2021 19:23

Thanks all for asking about the heating. Called my LL this morning and was told someone would be out today. Have had the door open all day, and yup, no one bothered to turn up. Hmm Typical of my LL. Will 'phone them again tomorrow.
Shame you didn't see anything WreckTangled. Or is that a good thing for the purse strings! lol
Oh my gosh. I don't know how I would cope in a house with a good baker PaperMonster. I'd probably be on MY 6600lb Life! lol
Good luck with your walk. I hope you feel OK. Wil you be having a milkshake too?
Oh my gosh to you too BorderlineHappy. Cats and baths=oh oh! Did you get scratched to bits?! I once had to bathe one of my cats as the silly sod sat in the (Thankfully cool!) frying pan. Confused I don't know why he did that! lol
Started to read my book and it made a lot of sense. Am doing OK today (Turned down the offer of cake! Shock ) Will finish reading it tonight.

OP posts:
PaperMonster · 25/10/2021 20:24

Bloomin heck @BorderlineHappy you were brave bathing a cat 🤣🤣

Didn’t get on my walk - today’s promised sunshine turned into torrential rain. I’d have had a latte. Cleaned bathroom and kitchen though, so hurrah!

Fingers crossed for the heating engineer tomorrow @73kittycat73 xx

PaperMonster · 25/10/2021 21:28

Mind you, I’ve not long since got back from walking to collect my daughter from her youth group and I realise that by walking her there and back then walking to collect her I’ve done 2.5 miles, so not bad really!!

BorderlineHappy · 25/10/2021 23:40

@PaperMonster that's fantastic,I've been a lazy sod these last few days
Have to get back in to walking.

Yes I think I was fooled by all these cat videos on FB.
The ones where the cats love the water and having spa days.

Ye no gonna happen in this life😅🤣

PaperMonster · 26/10/2021 12:02

Haha! Not sure my old lady cat would submit to a bath!! Although her long-dead brother would sit on the side of the bath when I was having one and dunk his paw in!!

@73kittycat73 this week he’s made brownies using ground almonds instead of flour, but still lots of sugar. I have indulged! But have poured on lashings of cream to try and counteract the damage done by the sugar!! He’s also made the most divine courgette soup which I’m currently having for lunch!! Am going to tell him to buy more courgettes at weekend so I can make some!

73kittycat73 · 26/10/2021 20:10

Shame about the rain but I hope you enjoyed your latte instead. Smile At least you got some housework ticked off too, and a still a walk! You don't like taking it easy do you? Grin
Those brownies sound delicious. Star I do like a good brownie (Have you seen those ones on QVC, £24.00 for a box of twelve! Shock ) Uuumm, cream... Love cream too. (Though I don't think I've ever tried clotted cream?) Courgette soup sounds delicious too. Good luck making your own. Smile
Lol BorderlineHappy, rookie mistake. Grin Did either of you have cats before the likes of Frontline (Flea treatment.) came along? You used to have to rub this powder into the cats coat, leave for half an hour and then brush off. You had to be armed with towels and everything! We had one cat who abosloutely hated it. Armed ourselves with towels, garden gloves, oven mitts, and still everyone got scratched to ribbons! lol
Well, 'phoned the office up today, was told someone would be out to do the boiler so once again left the door open (So they can't use the excuse they knocked and no one answered. They've done that before.) and once again no one turned up. It's really taking the micky now. If I was late with my rent...
Anyway, on to happier things, my Christmas tree is up! Xmas Grin It's more out of practicalities really (And I haven't actually decorated it yet, but I have fluffed it out.). My flat is so small. I needed access to my wardrobe to get out a throw , and my bag of Christmas presents/advent bits/tree decorations was in the way. I decided the only way to get access was to sort all the items, wrap and put the presents under the tree, so the tree needed to come out...I have moved the bag of Christmas to the front room but I can't sort it all out yet as I'm worried when someone eventually does come to fix the boiler, they will be in the way, as I will have to sort each persons present into a pile, advent items into a pile, etc. I need to win the Lottery and buy a big house! lol Grin

OP posts:
PaperMonster · 26/10/2021 20:17

Oh bless! I did think the other week that Christmas had come early to our village as there were three houses with outdoor lights up - although tbh I think they are all the solar ones and it was the first time I’d had to walk around the village in the dark for a while!

Don’t recall ever having to do that to my cats thankfully! My old lady wouldn’t like it but I suspect her brother would have!! He liked to be in contact with me at all times!!!

My dad’s been taken into hospital this evening with chest pains. He’s feeling brighter now and is awaiting test results.

PaperMonster · 27/10/2021 13:49

Hurrah, my dad’s ok!

Meanwhile I’m back in bed with this never ending cold.

73kittycat73 · 28/10/2021 12:50

So I'm not the only one with decs up. Tree is now decorated with wrapped presents underneath. Xmas Grin That's why I wasn't on last night. I was surrounded by gifts, wrapping paper, tags, ribbon, sellotape...I hated it! lol I hate wrapping as I'm a perfectionist and I'm terrible at wrapping. I even had a mini temper tantrum when the paper ripped whilst cutting it and screwed it all up and put it in the bin. lol Xmas Grin Most of it is done now. Just have my nieces bits to do.
Your cats sound really sweet. Smile I love when they follow you around the house. When I first moved into my own place on my own I got a cat. I heard that cats were sensitive to spirit. I wasn't worried about burglars, I was worried about ghosts! lol I thought if the cat freaks out and is off, I'm right behind it! lol
I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I'm so glad for you that he is OK. I bet you had a fright though. It's very good he is well. Smile
Maybe you overdid it a bit yesterday/day before with your cold. You're like my mum, won't give in when you get ill and refuse bed rest as much as possible. I used to be like that too. Now I wallow. Grin lol I hope you rest up today and feel loads better. (((hugs))) (Oh yeah, you inspired me with my shopping. I've ordered soup. Smile )

OP posts:
BorderlineHappy · 28/10/2021 14:23

No Christmas tree here but dp is listening to his Christmas CDs.
So it's a start🤣
@PaperMonster great news about your dad.
Hope your cold and feeling awful ends soon.💐
@73kittycat73 to be that organised.
I've nothing in yet

PaperMonster · 28/10/2021 18:43

Oh my goodness @73kittycat73!! How organised!

Going to see dad tomorrow- he and mum have had a ridiculously stressful year, so it’s not surprising he’s had chest pains.

Think I’m on day 31 of this cold. Today’s joy has been a constantly popping ear. And, seriously, where does all this snot come from??

Have managed a three mile walk today, so deffo on the mend!

73kittycat73 · 28/10/2021 19:15

I looked for Christmas music on the TV yesterday for when I was wrapping (NO radio or CD player.) and couldn't find any. Checked again today and there was one! So will be listening to that later when I wrap. Your DP obviously has good taste. Xmas Grin
I usually start my Christmas shopping early but wanted to do it extra early this year. It helps that my nieces will get cash now, but still have some pressies that I've already bought. Need to get niece number 2 something else though as although they've had roughly the same amount spent on them, DN 1 has more, and larger. You know what kids are like, one sniff a sibling has more than them...! lol
I really hope you dad stays well PaperMonster. I'm sorry they've had such a bad year. Hopefully he'll take it easy for a bit now, or is that not an option?
Lol at all the snot. Sorry, shouldn't really, I bet you feel horrendous. I bet the ear popping is a bit disorientating? I hope you feel better soon!

OP posts:
73kittycat73 · 29/10/2021 11:25

Well I finished the wrapping (For now!) and didn't have any temper tantrums. (Almost! Xmas Wink ) Xmas Grin
Found the music channel and it was rubbish. New songs I haven't heard before. None of them good so turned over to the shopping channels. Grin It's something to listen too and keeps you company.
I hope you all have a really good day. I hope you and your Dad are doing well PaperMonster. I hope Rocco is keeping you busy BorderlineHappy. Grin
And I hope you are well WreckTangled. Smile Have you got any of your decorations up yet?

@73kittycat73 it's worse than having a toddler🤣
