How are we all? What a gloriously sunny day it has been here today. What’s everyone up to this weekend?

Now I can drive more, I’m off to a town centre with daughter tomorrow so she can buy items for her Halloween outfit. Plus she needs some winter boots. Other than that, not many plans!

@73kittycat73 I never clicked on your Percy Pig links but last night an ad popped up on FB for the hamper - it looks amazing! I hope your brother appreciates it! We got the Betty’s Christmas catalogue through today - some yummy looking gifts in there!

WreckTangled · 15/10/2021 19:10

Evening all. I'm permanently exhausted and stressed. I've started a degree through work (just a foundation degree) and so have increased my hours, this coupled with dd starting secondary school has left me frazzled!

Took dd to Costa this afternoon as a treat. I had a hot chocolate and slice of cake Grin

73kittycat73 · 15/10/2021 20:32

Hi PaperMonster, I did have a better night, thank you. Smile Wow, that is a lot of walking! It's good that you enjoy it though. Star It has been OK here today. Thought it might rain earlier but it passed over. Not cold either so that helps. Have fun picking out the Halloween outfit! Sounds fun. Smile It looks like we aren't going to get any sweets for the Trick and Treaters this year. It sounds like most people are doing little parties for the kids/grandkids anyway. Will your daughter be Trick or Treating, or going to a party?
I hope my brother appreciates the hamper too! Grin Bettys do lovely looking cakes don't they? If that's the one I'm thinking of. Afternoon tea type of thing? Are you ordering any? Grin
Hi WreckTangled, ooh you do sound busy! Do you get weekends 'off' (I appreciate with kids you never get time off!) or are you studying/working still? Don't forget you need rest too. Glad you had a nice hot choc and cake. Smile
My only plans so far for the weekend are change my bed and have a shower tomorrow am, and watch Strictly tomorrow PM! Grin My nieces might be coming round on Sunday. Hope you both (And BorderlineHappy and Rocco) have a lovely weekend. Smile

Ooooh, @WreckTangled am I allowed to ask what you’re studying? And it’s not ‘just’ a foundation degree, it is a foundation degree and will be hard work and rewarding at the same time. I so want to do some studying - just not sure what. How is your daughter finding secondary? I’ve sent off the application for secondary today. Can’t believe how much it’s going to cost for her to get the bus there!! Cake and hot choc sound good!!

Yes@73kittycat73, it’s that Betty’s! We usually spend a day in Harrogate doing Christmas shopping and get some nice goodies from Betty’s. Not sure that will happen this year though. Although there is a Betty’s closer to us and we might visit that town instead.

WreckTangled · 16/10/2021 08:51

73kitty I have work I need to do in my own time too. On average 12 hours a week Sad it's going to be hard work.

Paper it's health and social care. Potentially I could top up to a nursing degree after but that's not where I want to go, too clinical. I might consider topping up to a public health degree but I'll have to see how I go with this...

73kittycat73 · 17/10/2021 19:36

Sorry I haven't been around. I was coming on yesterday to have a rant about my mum (Long story involving changing armchair legs 5 times!!!) but then she needed help and I've been nursing her ever since. Was up in the early hours on the phone to 111. It's not life threatening (Thank goodness!) but she's in a lot of pain. Hopefully she sleeps tonight. I think we could all do with a good one! So I didn't get to change my bed or fit in a shower! Saw my nieces for a while today though, which was lovely. They requested money for Christmas this year and I'm kind of relieved and sad! lol I don't have to rack my brains to get something they both like, but then they won't haver as many presents tom open Christmas day. They have got a large stocking full of things though already, so there will be something to open. Just my younger brother to go now!
Ooh, I hope you manage to get your Betty's treats PaperMonster. Some of their cakes look delicious! I imagine you are watching the Strictly results right about now...I have it on in the background. Smile Tilly Ramsey is my favourite. She isn't stick thin and looks a bit like my niece so she's my fav. Grin Yours?
Good luck with your studying WreckTangled. Smile Will it give you more career options? Are you aiming for a certain position? I really wish you well with it, and hope you find it easy to fit in. Smile
Hope you are OK BorderlineHappy?

PaperMonster · 17/10/2021 19:57

Oh @73kittycat73 what a stressful night. I hope mum is doing ok. You make sure you look after yourself too - you can’t pour from an empty cup. Big hugs to you xx

Yes, I am watching the results. Tilly is lovely! Our favourite is John - cracking dancer and a friend of my brother’s!

@WreckTangled good luck with your course. Enjoy it. I always feel one of the best things about studying is meeting new people! I do just love people! So I’m hoping you get to meet some fab people!

This cold has floored me today. Was feeling so much better yesterday too!

Made cauli and broccoli soup today, it’s de-lish!

73kittycat73 · 17/10/2021 20:18

Thank you. Smile Will be in touch with the DR again tomorrow. Mum was diagnosed with degenerative disk disease last Thursday and told there was nothing that can be done about it, it's an age and osteoarthritis thing and just described co-codamol. The tablets did nothing and she was in so much pain overnight that we called 111. The new Dr described amitriptyline for nerve damage and questioned why my mum had back x-rays (Which is what the old Dr used to diagnose her with) when it's her legs from the knee down that giving her the pain. He also said the co-codamol would do nothing as it's not for nerve pain, so we have to 'phone the surgery tomorrow for different painkillers.
We also found out with the degenerative disc disease that it can be treated anyway. With painkillers, cortisol injections and eventually surgery.
Just finished watching Strictly, what did you think? I think the right couple went, they were awful! Lol, I feel really mean saying that as I couldn't dance in front of a live, and at home, audience! I think John is lovely. For some strange reason he seems to lack confidence, but he seems like a really nice man! Very good dancer too. Do you vote? I don't usually, in these kind of things (Big Brother and I'm A Celeb, I'm look at you...) if I vote for someone they always end up loosing! So I'm not going to curse anyone with my vote this year. Grin Talking of I'm A Celeb, do you watch it? I've watched it from the start, when they didn't even have toothpaste. I saw a little clip after Strictly of rider galloping on a horse and the Celeb music. Can't wait, should be on soon! Grin

WreckTangled · 17/10/2021 20:34

Sorry about your mum 73kitty but good to hear there's treatment. Could you get your nieces something small to open too? Not sure how old they are. My nan always gives us money plus a box of biscuits and packet of cheese twists Grin

Paper this course will get me up a band at work, if I were to top up I'm not sure where that might take me. The way things are going I can't see me doing that though BlushGrin it's all online for now so not really meeting anyone either.

My levels were amazing today until I accidentally ate some stollen. It wasn't even that nice which makes it even worse.

PaperMonster · 17/10/2021 21:36

@WreckTangled ugh to nasty Stollen levels! A shame it’s all online - but am still very envious of you studying!!

Gosh @73kittycat73 she must have been in so much pain if the cocodamol did nothing. Although to be fair, I find they just knock me out - so I don’t feel any pain I might have!! I have osteoarthritis in my hip and after a troublesome few years the pain’s right under control now so I do hope your mum can get some effective treatment for her pains too. Had amitryptyline once - dried my throat and nasal passages out so much that I’d wake myself up snoring!!

Yes, we do vote. It’s either for John or for Oti this year. My daughter’s a huge Oti fan! Was getting worried that John would be in the dance off!! But poor Greg hasn’t done a good dance yet, I don’t think, so it was definitely his turn to go!

I used to watch I’m a Celebrity but haven’t done so for years! And I used to watch Big Brother, but again not done so for years. Both were always useful for when I was teaching team formation- always interesting to see what roles people carve out for themselves and I found students could relate to the theory better then!

BorderlineHappy · 17/10/2021 22:48

Roccostill as mad as ever.Hes feeling much more comfortable day by day which is great.

Went to a podiatrist on friday. My god the difference. My feet feel amazing.
My toenails have never been so short Grin.
He even rubbed cream in to my feet.I was in heaven.

@73kittycat73 ah hope your dm gets sorted and the drs actually listen to her.

@WreckTangled hopefully you are less frazzled soon and it settles down.

73kittycat73 · 18/10/2021 19:30

Thanks WreckTangled. Managed to speak to a different Dr today and has been prescribed Tramadol. Also referred to physio and something to do with skeletons? (Mum took call, couldn't remember what the Dr said.) Tramadol coming tomorrow. Apparently the amitriptyline did help her to get to sleep yesterday though.
When are you fitting your studying in? Is it set hours/lessons, or can you complete as you go? Lol about the stollen. Grin I understand!
I do have some small gifts for my nieces to open. We usually get them quite a few presents but I suppose this year will be the new normal. No more toys until they have their little ones! Grin
Hi PaperMonster, sorry to hear about your hip. Glad you have it sorted out now though. I've woken myself snoring many a time, without medication! lol
Will you be watching I'm A Celeb this year? Or have you gone off it?
Hi BorderlineHappy, and Rocco. Grin Glad he's settling in so well. Wait till you get your Christmas tree up though! lol
Ooh, a foot massage, I bet that was lovely. Smile I'm glad your feet felt so nice. I've never been to a podiatrist. Were you referred because of the diabetes?

OP posts:
BorderlineHappy · 18/10/2021 19:34

I went to a webinar and i got it through that.
But i would recommend it.
And i will rebook next year, its well worth it.

Anyone finding it weird how dark its getting so early.
Its bright next minute pitch black.

WreckTangled · 18/10/2021 19:55

73kitty was it MSK? (Muscoskeletal?) I have various assignments due over the year so I need to sit down and do some time management work Grin I'm really feeling the pressure and like I might not be clever enough, I've always considered myself quite intelligent but feeling out of my depth.

We had a lovely sunrise this morning. Have had to give in and put the heating on as the house is feeling damp.

PaperMonster · 18/10/2021 22:03

@WreckTangled what a beautiful sunrise!

And quite envious about the podiatrist @BorderlineHappy. Yes it is getting dark so quickly now, in fact a friend was saying this to me too only this evening!

@73kittycat73 it will be musculoskeletal- I visit them about my osteoarthritis and also about my arm. They’ve been brilliant! Not sure about I’m a Celeb - might see who’s in it and maybe introduce my daughter to it! She’s been to a roller skating place tonight - she really got the hang of it!!

BorderlineHappy · 19/10/2021 06:48

@WreckTangled what beautiful pictures.
You will be fine once you start and get in to the swing of things.

73kittycat73 · 19/10/2021 23:39

Oh that's interesting BorderlineHappy. I have noticed also that it's starting to get darker around 6pmish. I suppose we are near November now though aren't we? The clocks change soon don't they? I can never remember if we gain, or lose an hour. I always rely on the TV guide to tell me! lol
I'll ask her if it was that, thank you WreckTangled. Smile Ooh, you sound very intelligent to me, don't doubt yourself! You've got this! Is there anyone, like a course tutor, you could go to and explain you feel a bit overwhelmed atm? They might be able to help, or point you in the direction of someone who can?
Beautiful pics there. Smile I haven't had the heating on yet. I'm dreading putting it on. If it hasn't been used for a while it comes on making some horrendous noises and I have to switch it off and call the landlords repair man in! I hate the noises, I'm always worried it will blow up! (Hopefully won't, the boiler does get checked once a year.)
Hi PaperMonster, thanks for letting me know, will pass the info on to mum. Glad they've been so good for you. I hope they help my mjum too.
How old is your daughter, if you don't mind me asking? (Or you can just say tween, teenager, etc.) will she be up late enough on a school nigh to watch IACeleb? I haven't heard any rumors this year yet of who's going in.
Well done on you daughter getting the hang of roller skating! I used to go ice skating as a teen. Usually had to cling on to the side! lol Grin I have terrible balance...

WreckTangled · 20/10/2021 06:05

Yes everyone's really supporting at work/uni.

73kitty it's mild today but going to be cold from tomorrow. Would you consider giving the heating a trial run so if it's not working you're not stuck freezing?

BorderlineHappy · 20/10/2021 08:10

@WreckTangled my heating has already been on.
We had our boiler served last week and he says once a month turn it on.
Just to make sure everything is working

PaperMonster · 20/10/2021 17:15

@73kittycat73 she’s ten. Usually goes to sleep about ten. So long since I watched Celeb that I can’t even remember what time it’s on!

My never ending cold has now developed into a chest infection. Am on ABs. Feeling rough as toast.

73kittycat73 · 21/10/2021 19:45

Very good idea about the trial run WreckTangled, thanks. Going to try putting it on on Sunday. (Mum can come in with me then incase I flip out about it.) Glad you're surrounded by supportive people. Smile Maybe when you are having a wobble, remind yourself why you wanted the qualification in the first place? I'm sure you'll get through it. You sound determined to me. Star
Has it been cold where you are then BorderlineHappy? I'm quite lucky, I get the sun in all day and it doesn't half make a difference. Go into my mums (Opposite facing and no sun.) and it's freezing! I took a blanket in with me today! Grin lol
Hi PaperMonster. Smile I think IACeleb is on at either 8, or 9pm. Apparently Richard Madeley has heavily hinted he's going in. Very fond of Richard and Judy. I used to skip school so I could stay home and watch them! Grin
So sorry to hear you have a chest infection. Nasty things they are. I hope you manage lots of rest? The AB can wipe you out a bit too. I hope you get better soon. (((hugs)))

OP posts:
PaperMonster · 21/10/2021 21:13

Thanks @73kittycat73. I’ve worked today - and now it’s half term, hurrah! Tomorrow I shall do as little as possible!! That’s quite amusing that you used to skip school to watch Richard & Judy! I didn’t realise that ABs can wear you out. I don’t think I’ve had them since I was in labour!! Or I might have had some when I had a haematoma in my jaw six years ago - can’t remember! Either way it’s been a long time. I know today I really struggled with the noise of the children and the constant calling of my name.

73kittycat73 · 22/10/2021 20:43

I hope you managed a rest today? Yup AB kill off the 'good' bacteria as well as bad, they can be pretty strong too! Hopefully you can get in a rest over the weekend? At least you should only hear, 'Mum,' this weekend rather than, 'Mrs PaperMonster,' every five minutes! Half term came at the right time for you. Forgive me if you've already stated (I think it was WreckTangled who had...), have you had your flu jab yet this year? I haven't, haven't heard anything about it yet either.
I've been spending money I haven't got yet. Grin (Grocery money, due next Wednesday but get paid on Tues.) On the Christmas bargain threads there are two codes for money off WHSmith. (9516004
20% Off Books, HSD-YV02L5F
10% Off Your Order
Gives free delivery too.). I was disappointed to hear there are no plans as yet for another Birds of Prey/Harley Quinn film so I thought I'd check out the graphic novels/comics. Yes, I bought loads. Grin Don't know which order they go in...Do we have a comics section on here?! lol I'm sure I'll figure it out somehow...

OP posts:
BorderlineHappy · 23/10/2021 08:54

@73kittycat73 it's freezing here,really cold
I'm not feeling too great, headache and feeling cold.
I have a really warm dressing gown that Rocco confuses with feeding.
He snuggles in with his paws outstretched and tries to feed, constantly.

PaperMonster · 23/10/2021 10:03

Oh no @BorderlineHappy hope you feel better soon. Rocco sounds so sweet!

@73kittycat73 yes I’ve had my flu jab four weeks ago. Had it on the Saturday then came down with a shocking cold on the Wednesday and couldn’t work the Thurs/Fri. Started to get better after that but then this week it’s just got worse. Spent yesterday in bed. My head feels like it is going to explode. The glands in my neck are swollen now and my jaw and teeth hurt! And coughing is so painful on my ribs. Got a PCR arriving today.

My daughter’s into My Hero Academia - do you know that? She reads the books, watches the show and makes little cartoon videos!

I think I might move downstairs today and continue watching Maid - great programme.
