People are fundamentally good I think.

My mum is disabled and goes out in a mobility scooter and tells me this. She says people are always offering to help her. How polite people are in the shops. It's nice to hear. Smile Thank you for telling me about your meter reader. Lovely to have a good old chat, isn't it? Smile

I do think thats true.
In Aldi today and the person in front let me go ahead.

@73kittycat73 how are you today.
@PaperMonster
Glad you are enjoying the new job.

My son got his 2nd jab today.

Also after Halloween my sons school are starting hot lunches.
Some really nice choices. The vegan on is cauli, aubergine curry.
Pity im not in school Grin

PaperMonster · 23/09/2021 13:50

Oh my, @BorderlineHappy, that curry does sound good! Love aubergine! I help out at lunch at school - today was chicken curry. They get it bloomin everywhere!!!

@73kittycat73 my dad’s been recently using his mobility scooter and he says sometimes people are really polite but other times he feels invisible.

Got an hour’s break before I’m back at school. Would have been longer but I had a lovely chat with a bloke I sometimes see walking his dog, then I helped a delivery driver find a house! Loving working so close to home!

Hi, just joined the thread. I'm newly diagnosed diabetic and have long history of PCOS and pre diabetes. been struggling with binge eating and purgeing and I'm 23 stones at 5 ft 8 inches.

BorderlineHappy · 23/09/2021 18:32

@chickenandchipsinabasket welcome.
We dont bite [much]

Hope you find this thread useful.

chickenandchipsinabasket · 23/09/2021 19:19

am glad to be on here. Seriously thinking of going back to Overeaters Anon meetings . It worked before. Well, for a bit, anyway!

WreckTangled · 23/09/2021 19:27

Phew I found you all! How's it going? Hopefully you'll be back to my threads I'm on now!

My levels have been excellent because I've been sticking to low carb very well. However tomorrow I'm going out for lunch with DH so will probably treat myself.

My hba1c is estimated at 5.5% (37) now but I won't have another blood test until December so need to keep going. I've already told myself I'll have Christmas off. Although, annoyingly, my next appointment with my specialist is the 30th December so they'll see all my awful Christmas data Hmm

73kittycat73 · 23/09/2021 20:21

Hi BorderlineHappy. Smile I had to have a nap this afternoon as I couldn't sleep again last night. Was up at 4am watching (The Christmas hour) on QVC!
Glad you are running into nice people too. Smile
How is your son after his jab? Those dinners do sound delicious!
Sorry to hear that about your dad PaperMonster. Sad My mum says the worst are people preoccupied on the phones just mindlessly scrolling as they walk right into you...Hopefully he'll bump into (Not literally! lol) more nice people. Smile
Well done on your ROAK today! Star (Random Acts Of Kindness.) I'm useless with directions, I'm sure I sent someone the wrong way when last asked! Confused
Hello chickenandchipsinabasket, and welcome. Smile I'm waiting for an assessment at an eating disorders clinic. I binge and mindlessly eat. I'm also a headonistic eater. Do you have to attend OA in person, or can you do it by phone/PC? I'm glad they helped before, even if it was just a little bit. Might be worth going back then?
Have you had any help from your GP/nurse about your diabetes? Like what to eat, etc?
Hi WreckTangled. Smile Nice to see you back. Well done on sticking to low carb! I don't blame you treating yourself though. Smile
Excellent on the Hba1c levels! Star You've got to have Christmas off though...Sods law about the blood test!
Does anybody have any plans for Halloween this year? Not last year obviously, but usually we leave some pumpkins out so the kids now to come in the garden and we have a big bowl of sweets on the go that we let them grab from. I saw a thread on here yesterday saying a lot of people won't be trick or treating this year. If there are some T or T's this year we were going to get some paper bags and portion up a few treats to take rather than all rummage in the same bowl. Just wondering if any of you are T or T'ing this year?

@WreckTangled nice to hear from you.Thats really great news.
You could wait till after you see the consultant. They would never know Grin
@73kittycat73 Hes fine but i suspect an Oscar worthy performance in the morning to get off school.

Anyway can i ask does anyone have an experience of a food bank.
I have an app tomorrow with them and i dont know how it works.

I feel so ashamed having to go and see there. Its an emergency so i will get a parcel and then have to be referred.

WreckTangled · 23/09/2021 21:13

I really don’t like Halloween. Can’t really articulate why!

73kittycat73 · 23/09/2021 21:36

Aww, BorderlineHappy, please don't feel ashamed. There's nothing to feel shameful about, honestly. I just hope you get lots of nice food in. Smile I'm glad the food bank is there for you when you need it.
I used to love Halloween as a child WreckTangled, but it wasn't really celebrated then. No trick or treating anyway. Now I just want it out the way so we can get on with Christmas! Xmas Grin

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 24/09/2021 06:29

Yea me too! I just want Christmas. I also hate some of the behaviour of children when grabbing sweets etc and not saying thank you. Plus I don't think anyone needs that many sweets, it's bad for your teeth and health Grin

PaperMonster · 24/09/2021 11:04

Hello and welcome @chickenandchipsinabasket, hope we can give you some support!

Hello @WreckTangled great to see you back - and great HBA1C too! Well done!

@BorderlineHappy sorry, I can’t be any help with food bank. But please don’t feel ashamed- easier said than done, I know. Hopefully they can offer support and you’ll feel better about it. Will they take into account dietary requirements do you think? Anyway, hugs to you xxx

I have a snotty child today who’s having a duvet day! I hope she picks up over the weekend.

I got a text inviting me for a flu jab yesterday- it’s for tomorrow at my GP!

PaperMonster · 24/09/2021 11:06

Also, I love Halloween! We have a lovely community feel about it here with lots of people participating. Daughter’s already planned her outfit and bought extra decorations!!

73kittycat73 · 24/09/2021 12:34

I'm always surprised by how polite the children are around here. We usually have to tell them to help themselves to some more. Obviously there's the odd 'grabber' but usually just one or two. Are you going to go for the flu jab PaperMonster? I usually do, haven't been contacted about one this year yet. I'm sure they will though. I hope your child gets a lot better. There is a nasty cold doing the rounds at the moment.
OP posts:
PaperMonster · 24/09/2021 14:08

Yes, @73kittycat73, I’m going to go. I was surprised to be called so soon. School have suggested doing an LFT although she’s had a negative PCR from earlier in the week. She’s surfaced from bed, nicked my Oodie and is currently watching some annoying woman on YouTube Hmm

WreckTangled · 24/09/2021 14:43

I haven't heard about flu yet but I've got my Covid booster tomorrow.

73kittycat73 · 25/09/2021 00:04

Good luck with your booster WreckTangled. You'll have to let us know how it goes.
Good luck to you too PaperMonster, for tomorrow.
A year or so ago I had a blood test (At home) and the nurse kind off jokingly called me a weirdo as I was watching. I always do. Grin It doesn't bother me in the slightest and I like to watch to see how much they take.
I hope your little one feels better soon too PaperMonster. I read again earlier (Sorry, didn't think to link it at the time.) about the nasty cold going round. They said it was to do with less herd immunity basically. That we haven't got enough defences/immunity as normal due to lack of mingling.
I've been lost on Ebay for hours. Looking at knitting patterns. I don't knit clothes but toys and objects. Have been looking at Christmas, Halloween and Alan Dart ones. Bought three so far and have many more in watching. Smile
How did it go today BorderlineHappy? I hope everything went alright. Take care (((hugs)))

OP posts:
BorderlineHappy · 25/09/2021 09:51

Yes @73kittycat73 everything went great.
They give you a crate of basics like beans, pasta and a big bag of spuds🤣.
So all's good here.

WreckTangled · 25/09/2021 10:06

They did my flu one at the same time. One in each arm Grin

73kittycat73 · 25/09/2021 22:47

Oh good, I'm so glad it all went OK for you BorderlineHappy. Smile Hopefully you'll be back on your feet soon. Did you watch Strictly tonight? It was OK, was on for a long time! (2 hours 20 minutes.) Some good dancers though.
Oh no WreckTangled, your poor arms! Shock Hope they are not too painful? I found my last flu shot OK, and AZ jab only hurt when it went in. Good excuse not to do the washing up though for you, 'I can't do it, I've got sore arms...' Wink Grin

OP posts:
PaperMonster · 26/09/2021 08:35

Oh wow @WreckTangled both at the same time! Hope your arms are ok. I was that busy chatting to the nurse that I didn’t know which arm she put the flu jab in. Must have been my bad arm as it was feeling bruised last night and it hasn’t felt like that for weeks!

Glad the Food Bank was ok @BorderlineHappy!

@73kittycat73 - you sound very talented! What will you be knitting? My neighbour knits items - when my daughter was little she knit all these biscuits and cakes for her. So lovely!

Not much happening here. Going to see OH’s mum today. Hopefully get a walk in.

WreckTangled · 26/09/2021 08:38

Thanks! Arms feel ok, just a bit tender if I try to lift them too high so am avoiding the gym today. Levels have been fine but woke with a headache. Otherwise all good. Going to have a quiet day today.

73kittycat73 · 26/09/2021 20:49

I've found lots of Christmas patterns, and a few Halloween ones PaperMonster. I've got Frankenstein, Melting snowmen, Choir boys, ghosts, igloos and Eskimos, toy soldiers, a caroler and a scarecrow so far. Really looking forward to having a go at them, I'm doing the scarecrow first as my mum wants one.
How was your day, did you get a walk in, in the end?
I hope you had, and enjoyed, your quiet day WreckTangled? I hope your arms feel better soon and that your headache has gone. Smile

Woke up myself all stuffed up and feeling rubbish. Have felt better as the day progressed though. Haven't done much because of that. I did order myself, last night, one of those oversized hoodies from Amazon. I bought one last year for my niece, so got the same one. I figured with the cost the gas is going to be (Gas central heating) I might as well buy something warm so I don't have to have the heating on too much when it's cold. I'm a 'cold' person anyway, would much rather be too cold rather than too hot, and it gets hot sitting a my PC, so hopefully won't need the heating on too much anyway.

OP posts:
PaperMonster · 27/09/2021 07:22

Hope the arms are feeling better today @WreckTangled.

Those patterns sound great @73kittycat73!

Had just a stroll around the village yesterday 1.5 miles. No one wanted a walk, which is unusual! It’s raining from today for forever so not much chance to get out from now on!

I have one of those oversize hoodies - they are amazing. However I need to get one for my daughter as she keeps nicking mine! There’s a lovely pastel rainbow one at Dunelm.

@BorderlineHappy hope you’ve had a good weekend and are ok. X

@chickenandchipsinabasket how are you getting on? X
