Which loo roll lasts the longest/is best value for money?

I'm having to try and budget better and it is annoying me that maybe the cheaper ones run out faster, so are a false economy really. Or am I wrong?

Which loo roll is the longest-lasting?

I think I have normal 'habits' and am not fussy about which one I have- money is my only concern.

Any suggestions?

We get who gives a crap delivered, their big roll is great.

I like the idea of a subscription cos it’s just such an annoying thing to run out of!

I buy 54 rolls of andrex supreme quilts from Amazon on a subscribe and save. Costs me £20.09 per 54 rolls.

I don't think there's better value out there. I was getting Bumboo delivered at £36 for 48 rolls so this is far better value

I used Tesco softest for years but recently I have seen a decline in quality so am also on the look out for something new

Waitrose essential are nice and fat

@RolyPolyBatFace have you don’t some fairly decent research into this? I’m keen and willing to sign up for that prime subscription if it’s a good deal?

@Yayayaya20 I did go out for lunch and drinks all afternoon to be fair. I got a really bad deliveroo/justeat habit which blew all my money, so am having to work out a plan.

I have autistic traits sometimes, so I don't really mind. One time years ago when I was worried about money, I calculated what foods are cheapest etc out of the entirety of the Tesco online foods. Turns out most of the cheapest stuff is pretty vile tho. But I did get to like bananas, and to some extent carrots, out of that episode.

Shower gel/liquid soap/handwash is another one I'd be interested in people's suggestions for.

Another who gives a crap buyer here. I don't tend to look at financial cost too much as I prefer environmental impact cost as a measure but for 2 of us one box of who gives a crap standard paper lasts over a year! (the subscription says we should be using double that-so I don't know if other people tend to use more sheets per crap or if they use it for other things, but it works for us!)

No it’s brilliant actually and thanks to your post I’m now signed up to that Amazon deal. It’s possibly a false economy for me as we tend to buy the mid range own brand stuff rather than the branded unless it’s on offer but the fact it’s one less thing to think about will make it worth it.

Just pricing up washing tabs now - Fairy non bio for 18p each on the Subscribe & Save. Looks like they are 16p in B&M but for the sake of fuel to collect and the fact that you’d spend an extra £300 while you’re there ....

Hopefully I can just Subscribe & Save every item we will ever need in the house.

We have Nicky which is 3 ply so quite thick and it was on offer in Iceland for £7.50 for 36 rolls the other day altho usually I get 40 rolls from my dp’ work .

I'm not a fan of Who Gives A Crap. I find that it crumbles and leaves bits on the bathroom floor (and my arse) and I suspect that it was responsible for an anal fissure that I suffered last year (that still hasn't healed ).

I'm also slightly sceptical about how environmentally friendly it is because it is shipped from China; I would always choose a product that has a lower carbon footprint over a product that uses less plastic, especially when plastic toilet roll wrappers can be recycled in various supermarket stores.

I think that bidets/bidet attachments/portable bidet sprays are the best way to reduce toilet roll usage.

WGAC used to be British made but is now imported from china..I have heard that ALDI do a good loo roll

I used to get Waitrose (so MN sorry) and also get Sainsbury.

During lockdown with the bog roll crisis we had some brands. They all went in like 30 seconds. Were very pricey too. I was taken aback! Like. They went 3 times quicker.

Costco own brand. 40 rolls for about £11 so under 30 p a roll, really good quality and there are more sheets on each roll than most other brands too.

Some time last year it wasn't available and I had to buy some elsewhere. I was shocked how expensive it was and how quickly it went.

Obviously you need a membership, but it gives you access to a lot of other things at really good prices (not everything is cheaper than supermarkets, especially when buying offers, so you have to shop carefully).

I find expensive bog roll although the Shea butter one smells divine, it simply too thick to flush, so I find the cheaper rolls do better. Surely it lasts as long as your toilet requirements ?

@IAmDaveTheSerialShagger I tend to get the Morrison's Savers one or the equivalent value range I think they maybe put less on a roll or it's thinner, so you need more. But I could be wrong about that.

Another fan of the CostCo Kirkland range, but saw BarbaraofSeville beat me to it. High quality and a roll lasts ages.

I usually buy the Farm Foods ones. There's 18 in a pack and it's (I think) 4 packs for £12.99 (72 rolls). The quality is absolutely fine.

Otherwise, if I can't get to Farmies, it's a Tesco 9 pack for £2.20 ish. The quality is absolutely dire though.

I buy Nicky from Home Bargains. I don't think it's the very cheapest, but it's much better quality than other brands so it's much better value imo. You use fewer sheets than with cheap, thin stuff.

I didn't like Who Gives a Crap - it made me sore, and yes to it making lots of mess because it doesn't hold together very well.

I used to buy wa. ,but it bothered me that it came from China. I now buy sainsbury, own brand recycled.it's made in the uk and now comes in a paper wrapping.

I like Asda shades, or Waitrose essential. Not expensive, decent quality and lasts.
