Which loo roll lasts the longest/is best value for money?

I'm having to try and budget better and it is annoying me that maybe the cheaper ones run out faster, so are a false economy really. Or am I wrong?

Which loo roll is the longest-lasting?

I think I have normal 'habits' and am not fussy about which one I have- money is my only concern.

Any suggestions? Grin

It is made in the uk......stupid autocorrect

Zebrahooves · 20/06/2021 07:40

We get the Farmfoods one - I think it has a duck on the packaging. Perfectly fine and better than Andrex. If not, Shades from Asda.

Londonnight · 20/06/2021 07:43

Costco Kirkland ones. I have used these for years and find they last the longest, have thicker sheets and are soft

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 20/06/2021 07:45

Asda Shades

I decided the best way to compare rolls was to weigh them - though haven't got round to it yet.

I am against using tabs for washing Just pricing up washing tabs now - Fairy non bio for 18p each above. Because a tab must be the amount required for a full load in a hard water area or people would complain they don't work well. If you live in a soft water area and seldom do full loads like I do powder must be more economical. Ditto for dishwashers but DH is in charge of that and not environmentally or economically minded annoying .

I get mine in big boxed from Rural Trading. No plastic at all, made entirely in the UK. Doesn't disintegrate like who gives a crap, and delivered to your door. Can't remember how much it is though. There's a minimum order requirement too. I think I place an order every six months. It comes in three boxes and I give one of those to my daughter who lives elsewhere.

FinallyFluid · 20/06/2021 07:54

I get Cushelle from Costco, no idea if it is cheap but it is soft, last year I had to buy Andrex and the teen was horrified. Grin

For soap Op, Tesco do a value single bar for 15p. It is excellent. Keeps you nice and fresh, lathers well and stays firm even when wet for a while.

dorothygaleandtoto · 20/06/2021 08:06

Another vote here for Kirkland range at Costco

ChippyDucks150 · 20/06/2021 08:14

I usually buy M&S toilet roll, it's £2 for 4, but really big, fat rolls that last ages. However I've just gone on Amazon and ordered the andrex supreme quilts, and got an extra x% off, so it was down to £15 odds for 54. I'll give them a go and see, going forward.

namesnamesnamesnames · 20/06/2021 08:15

Cheap ones, the thicker ones seem to block toilets!

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 20/06/2021 08:21

I go to Costco once a month on payday and buy the own brand toilet roll. We are building a little stockpile as well as we don’t use it all every month.
I’ve brought the branded charmin when it’s been on offer and that’s not as good. We always get through more and I think there may be less on the roll.

I also bulk buy hand soap, shower gel, and depending on what they have in toothpaste and deodorant. They often have a suitable brand for dh and ds but dd and I are a bit fussier about the brands we prefer.

They also do good deals on shampoo ans conditioner which I might buy as shower staples and then that stops the teenagers stealing my shampoo and conditioner I get from the hairdresser for my coloured hair.

Midnight0 · 20/06/2021 08:30

I always use ASDA own brand, blue pack. Have tried Regina, Andrex... all the other store brands and have always gone back to ASDA. Andrex left my bathroom covered in TP dust.

thesunwillout · 20/06/2021 08:32

Morrisons cheaper stuff.

A 9 pack is about £2.80, it's just right, doesn't disintegrate or have that weird kind of coated non absorbent feel that some cheaper ones have.

RealisticSketch · 20/06/2021 08:34

Yes, if you're saving money another vote for solid soap instead of liquid if you can consider that. Lasts much longer and a fraction of the price. Less plastic too.

Nsky · 20/06/2021 08:42

Tried who gives a crap, far too thin normal stuff

Animum2 · 20/06/2021 08:44

Nisa do an 18 pack of rolls costing just 2 quid and they are very good and last about 3 weeks

Nsky · 20/06/2021 08:46

Currently buying Aldi andrex like rolls, surfer soft I think it’s called, I think it’s £2.39 for 9 rolls.
I also agree tesco stuff gone downhill

Meruem · 20/06/2021 08:47

I just signed up for the amazon andrex, got 25% off as a new subscriber so cost me £15. Bargain!

ZigzagStripe · 20/06/2021 08:49

Have always bought the 9 packs of Quilted from Aldi. Although annoyingly they have definitely changed it recently and the cardboard roll is much fatter than it used to be.

DinosaurOfFire · 20/06/2021 08:56

I use the who gives a crap bamboo loo roll, its soft and doesn't fall apart. It always lasts us longer than they suggest too.

RolyPolyBatFace · 20/06/2021 09:00

@Yayayaya20 research?!! Of course I've done my research woman! I'm signed up to a million Amazon subscribe and saves and the great thing is ... you can cancel and amend them as you need to.

I loved my bumboo rolls as all beautifully and individually wrapped so looked nice in the bathroom but I couldn't pass up £20 for 54 rolls!

RolyPolyBatFace · 20/06/2021 09:03

We can you all stop buying my Andrex Amazon deal now? They're a market place and you'll push up my price

Ha, you won't actually. The genius thing about the subscription is that it locks the price in.

Not telling you about my other subscriptions though - just in case Grin

Meruem · 20/06/2021 09:07

RolyPoly, maybe they should be giving you some commission Grin

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 20/06/2021 09:07

We can't have quilted after the embarrassing time when we had DynoRod on speed dial. Apparently it is a quirk of our plumbing.Blush
