Single treat for £1,400 ideas please

I know I might get lots of grief for this but I'm really lucky to be in this position and would like to make the most of it so I'm turning to MN for inspiration. I have been given £1,400 to spend on a treat. It mustn't be something useful but something I would never spend money on myself. And it must one one thing so it can't be three expensive pairs of shoes for example.

I rarely spend so much on a single treat so I'm looking for ideas. Not holidays because I have already saved for a holiday and am not keen to spend this money on another holiday or a spa break or similar.

I am into crafting (but really wouldn't spend this kind of money on it!), interior and garden design, I love entertaining, and would like some facial surgery (keen on those threads that lift your face up). Any ideas? Thank you.

I kitchen aid mixer to match my kitchen

@inappropriateraspberry

If you like crafting what about one of those fancy pull out cupboards that can store everything?
This could be genius if only I knew the type of thing you mean...

I’d get a beautiful garden sofa / patio set. They’re really expensive!

Bloodyfuckit · 17/06/2021 16:06

I'd buy a lovely little 2 year old cob filly. I know a few very nice breeders. £1400 would get you a right cracker that'd be worth double that in a years time (not that I'm advocating treating animals as commodities for a single second btw).

CommanderBurnham · 17/06/2021 16:06

MacBook?
I'd personally have holiday or a wing walk when allowed

Anotheruser02 · 17/06/2021 16:06

I've read that thread lifts are very limited in there results, I would have a liquid facelift if I had that to treat myself, extremely subtle amounts of volume replaced in all of the lost areas to lightly lift and rejuvenate my whole sunken face.

Jellycatspyjamas · 17/06/2021 16:07

I’d echo the really nice patio set, or I’d commission a very nice piece of jewellery.

Or something like this to keep all my sewing bits in

AppleSouffle · 17/06/2021 16:09

An original painting by a favourite artist, or a ring. Any change could be put towards botox!

Derbee · 17/06/2021 16:09

Depending on how much you travel, I LOVE my Rimowa case.

I’d probably choose a Mulberry Bayswater bag, but other things on my list would be
An outdoor dining set
An electric bike
Jewellery

Depends what you already have!

AppleSouffle · 17/06/2021 16:11

Another idea, you could buy a beautiful decorative or antique lockable box or chest.

inappropriateraspberry · 17/06/2021 16:12

storage4crafts.com/

Look here - they do all sorts! I've always fancied one, so I don't have to keep everything in the garage!

CellyBee · 17/06/2021 16:14

I would get a diamond ring :)

SecretThermalsAreTheBest · 17/06/2021 16:14

Season ticket or membership to something that lasts a whole year/lifetime?

Personally I'd buy a very expensive piece of gear for my hobby...

Lessons in something you've always wanted to do but wasn't possible?! Like helicopter lessons?!

TheChosenTwo · 17/06/2021 16:16

Who has dictated that it can’t be spent on several things you want? That’s a silly condition!
Surely you can spend it how you want if it’s a gift Confused
My grandad often gives me money and tells me to spend it on myself - it just goes on the side to be spent on what anyone needs! Same with anyone giving me birthday money (rare now that I’m an adult), it just goes in my purse to be spent…
Anyway, I’d probably buy some nice garden furniture or a camera.

Wannabangbang · 17/06/2021 16:16

An above ground swimming pool especially in this heat would be a lovely treat

purplecorkheart · 17/06/2021 16:23

Before Covid I would probably do a break to either Venice or Lanzarote (spa break). Now I would probably buy an piece of jewellery.

LadyCatStark · 17/06/2021 16:25

I’d buy a Red (the brand not the colour 😂) paddleboard with electric pump (that counts as one thing right?).

AdaThorne · 17/06/2021 16:26

A pair of diamond earrings (and I'd wear them every day to get the most pleasure out of them).
A course vaguely related to work (but also something I'm really interested in!) that would not only be fun but increase my employability later on.
A massive divan bed with lots of drawers, a lovely headboard and the hardest sprung mattress known to man or woman - with some fancy bedlinen for it if there was any money left.

Bluetrews25 · 17/06/2021 16:28

So what happens to the left over funds if you don't spend it all on one item?

FAQs · 17/06/2021 16:28

Whenever I come into money or have some left I treat myself to premium bonds, although I can’t see that catching on as a treat Grin

SinkGirl · 17/06/2021 16:28

I’m a paper artist and take commissions - if someone came to me with such a healthy budget I could make them something epic! Definitely consider a piece of art, it’s the sort of thing it can be difficult to spend your own money on if you don’t have lots, but looking at something beautiful that you love every day makes you so happy!

warmandtoasty2day · 17/06/2021 16:29

@BIoodyStupidJohnson

It's probably more than £1,400 cos it's 'contact for price' but I'd buy something like this David Shrigley work.
How much ?? it's cute but bloody hell, i should have kept some of my dcs old art, far better and could have made a small fortune !
SleepingStandingUp · 17/06/2021 16:29

Whilst it's obv generous, I do think saying here is money for you to spend on you but there's a whole list of conditions attached rather spoils it.

Id probably book a holiday if I didn't have lots of kids. Like the idea of a beautiful piece of art.

inappropriateraspberry · 17/06/2021 16:30

@warmandtoasty2day and he missed out a word 😆 I wouldn't want it on my wall tbh.
