Single treat for £1,400 ideas please

I know I might get lots of grief for this but I'm really lucky to be in this position and would like to make the most of it so I'm turning to MN for inspiration. I have been given £1,400 to spend on a treat. It mustn't be something useful but something I would never spend money on myself. And it must one one thing so it can't be three expensive pairs of shoes for example.

I rarely spend so much on a single treat so I'm looking for ideas. Not holidays because I have already saved for a holiday and am not keen to spend this money on another holiday or a spa break or similar.

I am into crafting (but really wouldn't spend this kind of money on it!), interior and garden design, I love entertaining, and would like some facial surgery (keen on those threads that lift your face up). Any ideas? Thank you.

@CompanyCrowdFight

With those constraints, I'd guess the giver wants you to get something you can keep as a memento. My choices would be jewellery, art or a fossil!
I second that, a piece of jewellery or art or furniture
Onceuponatime1818 · 17/06/2021 19:07

My list would include:

Electric bike
Art work
Mulberry bag
A show stopper necklace
The most plush bed and bedding

SwimBaby · 17/06/2021 19:21

A capsule wardrobe (I did this recently and have been really enjoying it).
Or
Filler and a years worth of botox
Or
New table for kitchen/dining room. I did this when I inherited £1000 and every time I had a lovely meal or friends over I thought of my relative who left me the money.

As a fellow crafter, id spend the lot on an industrial sewing machine.

Electric bike

Crafting toy

YellowFish12 · 17/06/2021 21:31

You don’t get much electric bike for £1.4K

AGirlsGotToDo · 17/06/2021 21:38

One night in the most expensive hotels in London with room service!

Viggohytten · 17/06/2021 21:50

@BIoodyStupidJohnson

It's probably more than £1,400 cos it's 'contact for price' but I'd buy something like this David Shrigley work.
More than £1400? I think I’m in the wrong job when I see things of that 'quality'.
Jasmine11 · 17/06/2021 22:02

I'd get this with an extra lens.

DaisyDreaming · 17/06/2021 22:25

Beautiful fire globe?

whatisheupto · 17/06/2021 22:31

A new sofa, the comfiest, biggest one I could find.

Mayhemmumma · 17/06/2021 22:33

If I didn't have to announce or discuss what it went on I'd be tempted by a day of excessive treatments:

Botox
Hooded eyelid non surgical thing
Brazilian blow dry for my frizzy hair
Manicure and fancy pedicure

If it was sentimental and a keep sake I'd 100% buy art from lee herring Smile

Redtartanshoes · 17/06/2021 22:38

I’d think about what you use the most/get the most enjoyment out of right now and “upgrade”

In my case, I’d love a bigger pair of diamond studs; or something for my garden to make it even more enjoyable in the sunshine. Bed+luxury bedding etc is a good idea. Also bbq/pizza oven if that’s your think. Or a puppy:

Bichette · 17/06/2021 22:44

Jewellery or a watch.

GentlemanBurglar · 17/06/2021 22:51

Some kind of antique, maybe a piece of furniture or a painting, or otherwise a piece of one-of-kind, craftperson-made jewellery would be my choice.
But a bed is also a great idea - so maybe I'll buy an antique bedstead and a posh mattress.

SpacePug · 17/06/2021 23:00

Hmm something fun. A games console with loads of games. New TV with sound system. New bed and mattress. I'm not very good at spending on myself.
Why does it have to be one single item? Bicycle? iPad/laptop? Few days in a fancy hotel. Buy a new phone outright. A watch. Air conditioning for your house. Hot tub?

Egghead68 · 17/06/2021 23:03

A summer house in your garden

SunSeaSurfGin · 17/06/2021 23:03

Holiday
High end Jewellery
Art
Hot tub or something for the garden
Dog
Furniture

onemouseplace · 17/06/2021 23:04

I'd spend it on a meal for 2 (because there is no way I'd spend that much on just eating on my tod) and a hotel for the night. In fact, I'd go so far as to say I'd go back to The Fat Duck because we spent probably a similar amount, with wine pairing, plus hotel and it was worth every bloody penny.

But DH and I love food and it was a significant birthday and we'd saved up for a couple of years.

DonLewis · 17/06/2021 23:09

A pottery wheel. I've never potted. (is that the right thing even, should it be: I've never thrown? Whatever. I have never worked with clay.)

A giant set of stones for my garden to recreate church strettin/the long mynd.

A maker and son sofa chaise thing. And the floaty dress the woman that jumps onto the sofa wears.

HelenHywater · 17/06/2021 23:10

I'd get a piece of art probably. Or a bike. I'd like a bag, but the one I want is more than £1400.

(or a stair carpet).

MiddleClassProblem · 17/06/2021 23:17

One single thing rules is bollocks

prettybird · 17/06/2021 23:21

A piece of art: a painting or sculpture.

If you have a garden, a metal sculpture of something relevant to you. My parents commissioned some pieces (over the years) from an artist who makes wonderful sculptures from scrap metal (although she's got expensive now).

MadCattery · 17/06/2021 23:42

A cruise
A MacBook Pro
A quality camera
A party
An outdoor gazebo
A puppy, or kitten
Unique and beautiful piece of furniture
A quality bicycle

RiverSkater · 17/06/2021 23:42

A dog - though that might not be enough!
